How many nights each week do you currently cook at home?

Ha, ha! Actually, EKA, I don’t drink much beer or alcohol. When I do, I prefer Michelob Light. I make quick meals, like sandwiches with tomato, smoked turkey, what have you…or I dine out. As for the pretty little maids all in a row, that would be super…but who’s got ze loot?!

Marlo Thomas Recalls Her Favorite Scenes From 'I Love Lucy' and Carol Burnett's 'Gone With the Wind'

Beth, I remember that one. She first noticed Holden’s character in a restaurant, if I recall.

Thanks, Firebug. I was thinking about the food being good in a pinch or something.

Surviving Sudden Cardiac Arrest, by Dr. Holly Andersen

Dr. Andersen, I had cardiac arrest on June 4, 2008 - but I was on an operating table. It happened about 30 minutes into ear surgery (stapedectomy). The blood pressure (always outstanding in me) soared, and the heartbeat slowed to zero. There was a concoction of at least six medicines in the anesthesia.

I underwent a battery of allergy tests at the U of M this past April, and the only thing I tested postivie for on the skin test was a minor allergic reaction to Labetelol. Fortunately, followup stress and heart-catherizations revealed no damage.

I went back for the ear surgery on July 15, 2009, and asked them to use local anesthesia (only 3 medications this time), and sedation. The surgery went well; hearing has improved slightly (hopefully more in a couple months).

From Lucille Ball to Ellen DeGeneres to Chelsea Handler, what comedienne cracks you up?

Oops, almost forgot one of the best ones ever: Granny on The Beverly Hillbillies: Irene Ryan.

From Lucille Ball to Ellen DeGeneres to Chelsea Handler, what comedienne cracks you up?

Here are some of my favorites: Lucille Ball, Marlo Thomas, Ruth Buzzi, Jean Stapleton, Carol Burnett, Cher, and the lady who played Mrs. Roper on Three’s Company: Audra Lindley.

Marlo, that candy-factory scene is legendary. I haven’t seen it since I saw a rerun in the 1970’s, but I’ve never forgotten it. It was beyond hilarious. What an amazing talent Lucille was. Oh, heck, I’ve decided to Google a link to that scene: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wp3m1vg06Q.

You’ve got that very rare, natural comedic talent, too, Mar. One of the greatest scenes on your That Girl series was the episode in which Donald’s mother discovered his pants in your closet. Your show tended more towards the romantic-comedy side, with great use of word-play and double-entendres. But I was so glad you mixed in some slapstick, too. Remember the episode in which you got your finger stuck in the kitchen sink faucet, and had to use your big toe to rotary-dial the phone? Or the one where you destroyed the Thanksgiving dinner, and your father (Lew Parker) had to be rescued from the fire escape?! Great stuff.

What is the meaning of 'authenticity' to you? At what age did you truly feel authentic?

Hi, EKA. A big brawl in Beantown tonight. Kevin Youkalis of Boston took exception to Detroit rookie pitcher Rick Porcello beaning him in the back, so he charged the mound, threw his helmet at Porcello, who took him to the ground. Then, there was a big pileup of players, several ejections, etcetera. Boys will be boys.

Yeah, DeB’, Palin was calling for "civil discussion" in one breath, and then uttering incendiary comments about "death panels" in the next.
