Cougar Catch of the Week: Cher, 62, and 38-Year-Old Hikin’ Bikin’ Adventurin’ Tim Medvetz

I too dislike the term cougar, to have someone to love and be loved by someone is wonderful, live and let live !

What adage do you live your life by?

JB, I had to learn BOTH of these ! My other favorite is the Senerity Prayer. Grant me the serenity to accept the things I cannot change; courage to change the things I can; and the wisdom to know the difference. Knowing the difference is the trick ! Years ago I was in a miserable marriage and I heard Oprah say,” life isn’t a dress rehearsal ” that gave me the courage to move on.

HerTube: A Wild Reunion

This video is pure JOY !

Who is your favorite or most memorable relative (not including your spouse) and why?

So many sweet stories here today ! I have written about my father in the past. The summer I was 11 we lived in Montgomery Al. where my father was stationed by the A.F. My father went to Washington D.C. for three months at the pentagon. My mother, younger brother and I went to Washington D.C. for the last month he was there. We stayed with my father’s Aunt Mae and Uncle Bryan. It was a wonderful experience, we saw all the tourist spots and I had the best time! Aunt Mae and I loved each other on sight, she lived in an old victorian house. She had a beautiful garden where she taught me to cut flowers and make flower arrangements. We sometimes ate dinner in the garden and I watched lightning bugs for the first time in my life. We took a picnic lunch to Mount Vernon. She told me to dress in my favorite dress and took me to my first tea party where we were served tea from a silver tea service and ate wonderful desserts. It was one of the most wonderful experience of my life, I looked forward to each day and the time flew by. I visited her one more time a couple of years later after my father died. We lived so far away that I lost contact with her but I will always remember that summer because Aunt Mae made it so special.

HerTube: Happy Birthday, Paul Anka!

Happy Birthday Paul ! I still love the songs from ” back in the day ” I could actually understand and sing the words !

What contradiction have you embraced?

Frank, you seem so intelligent, I’m concerned that you are not living the life you deserve. Are you living the life Annie would want you to live ? Have you listened to Randy Pausch’s Last Lecture ? Life isn’t fair, this I know for sure, I try to be grateful for the good things in my life and not spoil today with the bad things from the past.

Fashion police: Are there things you think should never be worn to the office? If so, what exactly?

It would be fun to see a video! The women on TV that are the most inappropriately dressed for their job are the women of CSI.

HerTube: Randy Pausch (1960 - 2008)

Randy was such an inspiration !I bought his book after the story about him on TV. I thought that if anyone could beat the odds against him, he could. I am very sad for his family, I’m sure he made the most of the time he had left, they will treasure the memories of him !

Fashion police: Are there things you think should never be worn to the office? If so, what exactly?

I agree with most of what has been mentioned here. I work in a casual office and can wear comfortable clothes and shoes which I enjoy, for years I worked in a bank and wore suits and heels. I see a lot of the capris pants worn with a dress shoe (in winter with boots) I like these better than the short skirts some women wear. My biggest problem is with cleavage, I don’t want my bank teller or food server to show me her boobs !

Do you worry about presidential hopeful John McCain's age?

McCain’s age isn’t my biggest concern, I think he will surround himself with people he can delegate tasks too. Some people are better at speaking spontaneously than others, ( Bush is terrible at it), McCain is certainly smarter than Bush. It is amazing to me that McCain was the candidate chosen from all the men that ran, I’m guessing that he was chosen for his experience with the military.

Katie Couric Says Sexism Is More Tolerated Than Racism

I feel that women help perpetuate sexism because they don’t take themselves seriously, they are not direct or honest, they do not say what think even when they have an opinion. They allow sexist comments without even knowing it. We have gone back to being called “chicks”, we call each other “girl” and we act silly when a man calls us girls. They say it makes them feel younger. We won’t unite behind a female candidate because we don’t ” like” her, she is too this or too that. We teach people how to treat us, we need to set out expectations higher and expect others to treat us accordingly.

What is your favorite book of this summer thus far? Why?

The Last Lecture by Randy Pausch, sadly he just passed away.

Should Spanish be taught as part of the mandatory curriculum in our elementary schools?

The Latino population is the largest segment of our population. I live in New Mexico which is predominately Hispanic. I have always thought one should make an attempt to speak the language of the country they are in. I have come to the conclusion that Hispanics expect everyone to speak Spanish and employers are requiring employees to be bilingual. While I think it is a good idea to learn a second language, what happened to learning English ?
