No Atheists Allowed in the Foxhole?

In the fox hole, atheists are not ok but felons are. What a great way to empty the prisons. With a military like this, maybe we should do don’t ask don’t tell for everybody.

How do you feel about being left alone for a few days? What do you do with the time?

When I was young, I was an extrovert, and was able to deal with solitude only after having my batteries charged by being with people. Now that I am older, I seem to be a gregarious introvert, who happily deals with the social world only after having my batteries charged by being alone.

wOw's Views on the News: Is It Time for Clinton or Obama to Throw In the Towel?

Nope, Joan Ganz Cooney, we are not in the final round here. Hillary and Obama are not “jeopardizing their chances of winning the general election by going round after round jabbing at each other like two tired boxers.” Hillary is not merely jabbing. She is in top form, doing classic upper body cuts, using a left hook, and steadily throwing punches. Obama looks a bit like a tired boxer and has a bad Wright, but Hillary is not down for the count and she certainly has a good right for a white girl.

wOw's Views on the News: Can Clinton, Obama or McCain Get Us Out of This $9.1 Trillion Hole?

To get out of the $9.1 trillion hole: Cut out waste, severely cut the Pentagon budget, and put somebody’s mother in charge.

This Is Not an Endorsement ... I Just Like My Mattress

Jenny Oops: Anyone with a mother who has the humor to refer to herself as Jenny Oops is blessed on a daily basis. I sat in silence thinking about the traumatic brain injury. I am so sorry that your son, you, your family, your loved ones are going through this. I hope each of you find a way to balance the frustration with some gratification.

'wOw Friend' Diane Dimond: In My Constitutionally Protected Opinion, Anthony Pellicano Is Guilty

In a better world, journalists would not need to be protected from thugs: thugs not in government, thugs in authoritarian governments, thugs trampling on freedom of the press.

This Is Not an Endorsement ... I Just Like My Mattress

Mugsy, Thanks for reminding me of “Once Upon a Mattress” and the Broadway debut of one of my favorites: Carol Burnett. What a huge talent. Just think of her back in 1959 having to belt out octaves while at the same time getting laughs in her opening number. “Shy!” on the lower octave; “I’ve always been shy!” on the upper octave. And that mattress full of weaponry and jousting paraphernalia. May she live happily ever after.

This Is Not an Endorsement ... I Just Like My Mattress

When I moved, I put my Tempur-pedic mattress in storage. I kept my Tempur-pedic pillow with me, thinking it would be luxurious in the barn, which had no plumbing nor electricity. I also took my refrigerator thermometer. When I awoke one morning, the thermometer said “23 degrees”. The Tempur-pedic pillow was frozen. I called Tempur-pedic and told them my pillow was stiff as a board. The woman laughed and said, “One other person called us with that problem. The man had taken his pillow with him on a camping trip.” Once I moved into the house, I thought I would be enjoying my Tempur-pedic mattress, which I do except for a strange thing: it’s a hot sleep. As if hot flashes, I wake up in a sweat in the middle of the night. Later I read in the New York Times Sunday magazine that some mattresses trap human heat. “This bed is too hot!” I exclaimed. “This pillow is too cold,” I said. So, the Three Bears took me out for breakfast. “Ahhh, this porridge is just right,” I said sleepily and I ate it all up.

What are you reading that you really love?

TOCTOC, 50 bullets? They may debate whether these guys are guilty or innocent but one thing for sure, they are incompetent. I know a woman who stabbed her husband once and he is dead.

It's been 19 years since the protests in Tiananmen Square. What do you think about China today?

Lin Si, You have every reason to be proud of your country. The compass I find a bit confusing and gunpowder I can do without but I am grateful to your ancient country for giving us so many inventions. I personally make great use of printing and paper. Not all of my friends are happy that I do.

Who Is She? Part Three

Marriage tales are wonderful but perhaps the Wife of Bart would benefit if translated into Latin. Chaucer already did the vernacular English language.

Princess Grace, did you also have a little ledge outside your window at the Barbizon? I kept bread and cheese and bourbon out there. You would have preferred wine but I always say Jack Daniels never hurt anyone.

Her Serene Highness, aka, The Princess of Monaco, I’m delighted to note your quiet confidence. I always identified with you because I also lived in Manhattan’s Barbizon Hotel for Women, and I also am known for my serenity.

TocToc, I realize that you possibly would prefer that I didn’t think your monologue was special but I do. I am not speaking of the content but the dramatic thrust, which is a show stopper. And Mugsy, I thought that the quote was that leopards don’t usually change their spots. This is a question. The other question is does anyone need to exhale?
