Libra Lady, I came here with only respect….five days later, I’m constantly being threatened.  That is unfortunate.  No one objects to any valid information you present.  Asking for sources is part of discussion.  I’m not going away because of the tone of the discussion, accusations or condescending attitudes.  This is my country, and your rhetoric will not take away my rights, my pride in my country or my belief in ONE America.

Thanks, georgia and MK P.  Have to wonder how people who feel they are losing their freedoms can approve of wiretapping, that satisfy themselves with the false assmuption, "I’m sure they only tap bad people.’  We had a law in place to handle this FISA..Patriot Act overruled it.

Mary Cheney is the one in the family who has the education and experience in that family.  She’s probably barred from running for public office because she is a lesbian, so march out the cute blond with four kids and the experience of the crony job in her dad’s justice department.  Personally, I am not a huge fan of Pelosi.  As Belinda has said, get a credible spokesman…recruit Jeb Bush or his son.  Sarah Palin is not your future.

I know asking for sources is interpreted as accusing people of making up information, but that is false.  Who is Rasmussen?  I do know that Dick Morris is a disgruntled former Democrat who’s made no secret of his vindictiveness.  I’ll accept these statistics as a product of the unknown Rasmussen and the dolt Dick Morris.  Thank you for posting this, from whatever publication.

Actually, Libra Lady, Obama refused to allow the photos from Abu Ghraib to be released because of the negative effect on our military and all the rest of us because of their graphic nature.  In addition, Obama has been the one saying we are not spending time going back.  I appreciate your posting the above article, informative.  Please remember that asking the source of information is not accusing people of making up information.  Knights of Colombus?

Interesting perspective, Marjorie.  Without ever getting into Lewinsky, how many hours and how much money were spent on investigating the Clintons on Whitewater, Rose Law Firm, Foster’s suicide, travel office…just a sample of the unrelenting harassing of a sitting president.  My understanding is that all those legal fees had to be paid by the Clintons; they had to hire a personal lawyer, Bob Bennett’s brother to be exact.  And guilty of nothing.  The Republican congress did that.  I did not include Lewinsky because that I too find troublesome.  If Cheney lied about or manipulated information which should have been released to the congress, particularly relating to war, he should be held accountable.  You’d demand that of a Democratic Administration.  That’s why there are checks and balances in our democratic government.  Wolfowitz, Cheney, Rumsfeld—that’s the triumverate who led us militarily to this point.  Now where are they?

This is a totally new perspective, deber B.  You’ve been totally against every program proposed by Obama.  Now, if this administration follows an investigation which might prohibit any ‘Iraqs’ in the future, you say that Obama should be working on Universal Health Care. The proposed investigation concerns Cheney. From my view seems like this issue could have been fomented by the republicans to derail the Conress’s focus on health care. 

We don’t look stupid to the rest of the world anymore, deber B.  The days of ‘my way or the highway’ are gone and the present adminstration has begun mending the ‘Arrogant American’ model, maybe not looking into foreign leaders’ eyes and seeing their souls, but a beginning.  My understanding is that Obama said, accurately, he inherited the present problems; I don’t recall him specifically naming G W Bush.  In the last 40 years, Republicans were in power 28 of those years…..Not saying that Dems did not make mistakes, but the preponderance of evidence seems weighted to the right, which sometimes turned out wrong.

I enjoyed your account of your experience with you kids in past summers.  Hoping your reunion with all you kids and kids’ kids enriches all your lives.

I am a graduate of Texas Tech; Texas Tech does not emphasize academics.  Proud to be a Texan, but facts are facts.  Actually, I do not know that Gonzalez went out to Lubbock.  I do know he could not find a job with a law firm. He, unfortunately, misplaced his unquestioned loyalty.  I do hope he can resurrect his career.

So Stacy and Deborah, you are not saying that Cheney is not guilty of the alleged charges.  You think we do not have time to fool with it?  Interesting that Cheney was Secretary of Defense in George H. W. Bush’s administration when we rushed to the aid of Kuwait when Iraq threatened to invade.  Now that was putting the first foot into Iraq, and that intervention was completely oil related.  The Queen Noor at that time, the American Princeton graduate who married the king, father of the current king….writes in her autobiography that her husband, perhaps the most respected Middle East leader, was on the verge of negotiating a truce between Iraq and Kuwait, but the Americans insisted on a battle.  No incident occurs in isolation…History is a confluence of incidents, which should not be ignored.

And as relates to the Gulf War, G H W Bush enjoyed huge popularity, but lost the next election because of the economy.  His son experienced the same surge of popularity, but  exitted and left McCain and the Republican party with the same mess Obama faces.  All of that history cost McCain the election because he had no economic policy. 

What would America look like if McCain had been successful?  What would be different?
