My absolute favourite show was and still is Murphy Brown. It is so amazing how many friends of mine remember rushing through their homework on a Monday evening to watch Murphy and I can remember writing about Murphy as a role model for a speech at school. Even after all these years, I still enjoy the humour. I think Diane English should also be acknowledged because she had the courage and vision to persist with choosing Candice Bergen for the role. What a great choice! Yes, I also agree with the others about Boston Legal, and of course the Golden Girls. We need more programs with female protagonists.

Even though I am only a 30 something female, I love reading the posts of the fabulous women who give up their time to contribute to the site. It is certainly something that has been lacking and I want you to know how appreciated you are!

With respect, I don’t think it is anybody’s business to expect to find out how much a celebrity donates to a charity. Their money is their own, their salary is not paid for by tax payers. It is distasteful to advertise how much or little someone donates. I agree with Candice - it is so important to maintain our donations where possible.

Katherine, I agree with you though I don’t think many of these people would know the first thing about finding out who they really are, given they have constructed such a superficial life for themselves, based on their body size and their wealth - and have enjoyed the attention they receive.

Thank you for sharing this image! It is breathtaking! It is wonderful that such an important moment in history is documented by all of these wonderful images. I too had tears in my eyes. It was a deeply moving speech. I can only imagine what it was like to see it and be there amongst others in Washington.

Happy Inauguration Day! You must feel so proud today and so you should be! As a nation you have not only inspired hope among your nation, you have also inspired hope in the world. It is almost 4am in Sydney and my home is buzzing with excitement and enthusiasm. Enjoy the celebrations that will come after the Inauguration.

Well said sentiments Gianna. I agree. Given Ms Bergen has generously given and continues to give so much to society, not only through her acting talent it is a stretch to suggest that she is not deep. That she chooses not to publicise everything she does, I think is one of her most endearing qualities. She is an intelligent and civic minded woman who has done a lot more for advancing society without seeking the approval and publicity that many of the celebrities of the day crave.

I think you will find that Ms Bergen, like many of the other amazing women featured on this website contribute a great deal to society on more than the days that commemorate great people who have shaped the world.

Given that it will be 3am in Australia, I will be watching it on tv from my home, however, we are having a party at a more civilised hour with friends later on! Cannot wait!!!
