T.R. Reid has a wonderful book called "The Healing of America".  In this book, he explains the 4 different models of health care in the world.  We have all four of them in the US.  He went to many countries to experience their health care systems for himself.  This book should be required reading for everyone.  Then we would all have a better idea about what would work for us.  I’m not in agreement with everything the President proposes, but at least he is trying.  I, personally, think we need someone from either Japan or Switzerland to come over and redesign our health care system.  They seem to know how to do that.  If not them, then Germany or France.  None of these countries have ‘socialized medicine’, yet everyone in their countries have access to health care.  Also in all of these countries, health insurance is non-profit.  That, I think, is key to affordable health care.

I guess I’m a loser, then.  Stwart talks about issues that most news people gloss over.  I watch him on a regular basis.  I guess that makes me a loser!

Dona, I can’t believe I’m saying this, but I understand where Belinda is coming from.  It’s about consequences.  She never said the man should beat a woman who hits him.  I have 3 kids - 2 boys 1 girl.  Although my daughter is alot smaller than her brothers, she could take them.  While I don’t approve of them fighting, it has happened.  She knows if she hits her brothers, she will likely get as much as she gives - not more though.

Ms Dee, what I heard about the witnesses is: 1) He cannot call any witnesses that would be called for the federal trial. I don’t know why that is. 2) He could have called other witnesses, but he missed the deadline. It is not that he can’t have any witnesses.

Also… I consider myself to be a fairly ‘normal’ human being, but I don’t see her as a ‘Queen’ among women. No disrespect intended.

Christy, the above article is not disrespectful of Gov Palin. At the time of the clothing purchase, I blamed Gov Palin for being greedy. In the months since, I’ve changed my mind about the blame for this. Gov Palin did what she was supposed to with the clothes. She gave them back. The real disgrace is the RNC. I don’t think Gov Palin could have bought the clothes without the permission of her ‘handlers’. They knew better. Then the RNC made such a huge deal of going to her house to get the clothes and to look through her closets to make sure she didn’t keep anything. Since then, the RNC has done nothing to follow up. The clothes should not be a public issue any more. I don’t blame the RNC Donors for demanding answers.

I am furious that it is 2009 and women all over the world are still fighting just to be considered human. I had higher hopes for evolution.

Jim, It seems odd to me and funny (in a snarky kind of way) that you seem to think that every time we disagree with another women, it is because we are jealous. We’re not jealous, we just disagree. We are allowed.

I don’t think you are abnormal. I’ve been seeing more and more articles on the web about asexuals. I think you are just another wonderful part of our society. I’m sorry you lost your husband, but I’m glad for you that you are now able to live the life you need. The subject of asexuals would be a great column.
