Everyone--into the Rose Garden

My Comments (71 so far…)

Which 'Sex and the City' character would your friends say you are most like?

Had never seen it and the premise sounded noxious…..five years ago a gay man I know who was addicted insisted on showing me a tape of a show even over my objections. I watched 15 minutes and said this is just as dull as I imagined it would be. But the movie I understand is good so I’ll rent it someday on DVD…or by the time I get around to it Netflix will probably be on computer.

What television show do you miss the most?

Haven’t seen television in twenty years or so. “Sky King” I liked as a child. It was on very early Sat mornings…I think 6AM. We’d get up and race our bikes to an incredible bakery that opened at dawn and smelled heavenly. I never tasted bread like they made, even in Europe. We’d charge a dozen or two jelly and glazed donuts to our parent’s account and then sneak back in and eat all of them while watching “Sky King” “Lassie” and “My Friend Flicka.” Our parents bedroom was so far from the family room we could have been hacked to death by a band of shrieking banshees and they’d never have heard a thing. When they’d finally get up and say, “Breakfast” we’d turn green at the thought of food. Our parents ate in the dining room and we ate in the kitchen and held our plates under the table for the dog…who would then throw up in an hour or so. Our parents never caught on. To this day I dislike donuts, even the look of them, and when people say, “Crispy Creams” I feel queasy.

How much wine do you drink daily?

Maggi D, I have never tasted beer. Can’t abide the smell. So I really understand what you mean.

How much wine do you drink daily?

Think the question would have been more correctly put, how many glasses of wine a week or a month. Often people don’t drink everyday….so neither ‘none’ ‘one’ or ‘two’ is correct. More like one glass a week or a month.

Is it impolite to Google someone?

It depends on the intent. If it’s business that’s fair, or if it’s a high-profile person you’re going to hostess or attend an event with, then it’s learning an interesting aspect to remark on and legitimate. If you are going on a date with a new acquaintance…it seems like an invasion of privacy, not above board, snoopy and not nice. If I did, which I wouldn’t, at least I’d say so. Business or public person yes, otherwise no.

Percentage of Voters Say They Would Never Vote for a Woman, Regardless of Qualifications

I agree Mary Lou. It’s not sexism but that Hillary is irredeemably contemptible. As Camille Paglia wrote in Salon…”Hillary with her thin, spotty record, tangled psychological baggage, and maundering blowhard of a husband, is also a mighty big roll of the dice. She is a brittle, relentless manipulator with few stable core values who shuffles through useful personalities like a card shark (“Cue the tears!”). Forget all her little gold crosses: Hillary’s real god is political expediency. Do Americans truly want this hard-bitten Machiavellian back in the White House? Day one will just be more of the same. I plan to vote for Barack Obama… because he is a rational, centered personality who speaks the language of idealism and national unity. Obama has served longer as an elected official than Hillary. He has had experience as a grass-roots activist, and he is also a highly educated lawyer who will be a quick learner in office. His international parentage and childhood, as well as his knowledge of both Christianity and Islam, would make him the right leader at the right time. And his wife Michelle is a powerhouse. The Obamas represent the future, not the past.” Wed 6/4 Senator Obama will be the nominee and Clinton will be what she made herself today….totally loathed by all the stakeholders.

Do you still think about the 'one that got away'?

Got away? I never had to bait a hook or swing a lasso.

What were you told a 'real lady' had to do?

Have perfect posture, beautiful table manners, live on a few leaves of endive, speak and walk softly, avoid those who walk hard on their heels, have light blue Tiffany stationary and send a thank you the day you receive a gift, or the next morning with delivered flowers after a dinner or occasion. Don’t necessarily marry for money, but don’t cave and marry a pauper because he has a cleft chin like Cary Grant.

Candice Bergen and wowOwow Grace the Cover of 'Hampton Style' Magazine

Lovely old Further Lane, East Hampton, and Main Street with the Village Pond on one end Old Hook Mill at the other. But not like in the 60s-70s. Instead of tanned, blond children in the back of Muffy’s vintage MBZ station wagon with the English Sheepdog driving from the beach to the ice cream shop….it’s bling-bling…Malibu/Hollywood sur mer.

Dina Matos McGreevey is asking for alimony of $51k a month for 13 months from ex-NJ governor Jim McGreevey. Does she deserve it?

An acquaintance’s husband had to buy her a multi-million dollar gated estate, a new 750 BMW, pay her upkeep and expenses including housekeeper, gardener, the man who comes to wash/wax her car every week, weekly grooming for her Bishon, delivery service for groceries etc, all credit cards, maintain life insurance with her as the payee, pay for 12 weeks of vacation a year including for private jet transport to and from her vacation destination, plus $30K a month. They had no children but she moved out of their 4 homes and had given up her job as a model when she married him, and then discovered he’d kept another woman from the start. So $30K wasn’t much…it should have been triple. Why did Heather McCartney ‘deserve’ $50 million. ‘Bragelina’ just bought another residence for $70 million. Everything’s relative….especially if you have rich (ex) relatives.
