HerTube: Parking Style

That looks impossible—and fun. But if ever saw the driving in “Italian Job” the Director’s cut at the end reveals the stars did most of their own driving and wonderful Charlize Theron was affirmed by her male stars and driving coach as the best of all. That film was just cool and popularized the Mini Cooper. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ni6xtO2Lhbg

An Exclusive Interview With Martha Stewart CEO Just Ahead of Resignation Announcement

Martha Stewart, Susan Lyne, these are household names. And yours, John? When a man tries to throw his weight around by writing such elementary things, i.e.: “commonly referred to as the corporate culture,” 1) What an insight. 2) Shows he doesn’t walk his talk.

An Exclusive Interview With Martha Stewart CEO Just Ahead of Resignation Announcement

Great interview. Susan Lyne—my hero. I look at you and see me when had a national career and still playing tennis on a league, my child #1, fixing great festive dinners….and also was widowed. Very sorry for that, Susan, and your husband so talented to match you. I can’t speak for others but I never forget mine 20 years later, miss him a lot. Have dated more than anyone I know, was engaged once and we built a house on a lake that I’d designed, then I chickened out. And did get married a second time…just not the same as your first true love. But you are just fabulous, sensible and with more tremendous things ahead. And admire you that you didn’t finish college and still achieved so much..just like Steve Jobs and Bill Gates! Will be exciting to see what’s next. Obama needs a running mate! All best to you. And thanks much Liz for the interview—really lit me up!

What advice do you have for Cindy McCain?

Mrs. McCain reminds me of the Stepford wives that I encountered so often when married to my second husband, who was 26 years my senior and a member of the Jonathan Club. http://www.jc.org/ When you went to the club for an event it was as if they’d stamped the ladies out on a cookie-cutter assembly line upstairs. But then I fit the blond/blue/thin/Chanel suit mold too—until I got the tatoos, Amy Winehouse hair and tongue studs in the shape of a peace sign. (ha) I greatly prefer Michelle Obama, Jackie Kennedy and Teresa Kerry who by comparison seem bien dans sa eau (while McCain does not), lively, individualistic, very intelligent and I admire Michelle Obama because she is a Princeton and Harvard Law School grad and didn’t have money handed to her. Plus she looked fantastic in that purple dress, and works out and has terrific arms. Although I realize that she will be much more criticized because she is outspoken, while Cindy McCain will always play it safe. Cindy McCain wouldn’t be my kind of gal, someone like Angela Bassett when she torched her husband’s suits and BMW in “Waiting To Exhale” is infinitely more fascinating. Plus, don’t understand why she’d stay married to Granddad when she has $100 Mil…I’d leave for Lake Como on the next plane. Although, I do like the pearls, and both of the wives have made Best Dressed lists. So chuck the policy watch. For the next 5 months it’s be, “What’s on the parade of fashions, today?” Staring Boring Barbie vs Attitude Barbie.

In light of the salmonella outbreak, will you stop eating tomatoes?

Tomatoes are one of the ‘Super Foods’ the others being blueberries, oats, kale, spinach, bok choy, garlic, walnuts, carrots, sweet potatoes, yogurt, pineapple, apples, red grapes, cottage cheese, green tea. Tomatoes protect against prostate, lung and stomach cancers, are better cooked because more lycopene and carotenoids are released and easier to absorb. They protect against cell damage, and one medium tomato provides 40% of the RDA for vitamin C, and 20% of vitamin A. I buy organic produce at Whole Foods (or Mecca as I call it) which I trust to be safe, and wash things carefully and cook tomatoes, so there is scant danger of food poisoning. Plus couldn’t last 4 days without something containing lots of tomato, a hugh bunch of fresh chopped basil, garlic, kalamata olives, freshly grated cheese—and sometimes anchovies and capers—baked over eggplant or on occasion cornmeal pizza crust, or topping organic whole wheat pasta or spaghetti squash. Healthy cooking with beautiful presentation is a great pleasure.

What advice do you have for Hillary Clinton?

Mary lou, How about not attributing your language ‘hate’ to people who never use or think the word, which includes both Renata and me, and which we’ve both stated in different posts. And how you could not realize what Renata’s objection’s about HRC are after all her comments is not that she was clear. I quit supporting HRC when she voted for the illegal, immoral, unConstitutional invasion of another country, even after admitting that she hadn’t even read the military assessment; and then continued to saber rattle on Iran even with the outrageous losses from this debacle and for political motives to appease her AIPAC supporters. Yesterday, the Senate Intelligence Committee released its 200 page pre-war intell report that states what anyone with a brain back then already knew—-the invasion was based solely on lies. Today, Articles of Impeachment were introduced in the House of Representatives that has 72 hours to make a decision on how, or if, to proceed. Anyone interested in expressing their opinion to their representatives or the press can find addresses and further information here: http://www.afterdowningstreet.org/node/33999 http://www.fair.org/index.php My guess is that among this crowd even that simple civic effort will not be met by the vast majority. My political beliefs are based on our Constitution. The worse crime our Congressional representatives and so called president can commit against everything America stands for is to send troops into battle based on lies, and to enrich their oil company/military contractor friends, which is what was done. Over 4,000 of our brave, duped troops are dead, over 30,000 (so far) have very consequential injuries. Two countries are in ruin. Over 1 million dead. 2.3 million have been turned into refugees. Our treasury is emptied and we are mortaged to China, which in turn uses our interest on debt to finance their public services, rebuilding of infrastructure and education of their population—-while all of those things are cut here, and while Halliburton and the oil companies rake in the highest profits in history, and our Congressional GOPs block the Climate bill and windfall taxes on the rich war profiteers. It blows me away that people here can complain about the price of food and gas and cannot seem to draw the cause and effect line between those that voted for this mess—and against their Constitutional responsibilities— and the results for the average person and this country. And while attributing ‘hate’ to someone who can. A person’s first civc responsibility should be not to support those who support reckless, phony profiteering wars that have been so devastating to the US and the world. Senator Kennedy said his proudest vote in nearly 1/2 a century in Congress was against the illegal war. Kindly do not attribute the word hate and motives to people you do not know, about concepts you clearly do not get, and extrapolations you evidently cannot make. And maybe read about this Duke University graduate who would have been through law school and married to his fiance right now had it not been for this illegal war. There are over a million stories just like his. http://www.arlingtoncemetery.net/jjregan.htm People get the government they deserve, and the smart people in this country, ie who’ve actually investigated, are voting for Senator Obama for good reasons—and lots of them.

What should the world do with its trash?

Lorraine- I just read through these posts on the environment. You know, consider coming over to Huffingtonpost.com

What should the world do with its trash?

Empty heads….you have that right. The “ROTFLMAO” crowd is in control of this board chasing off anyone with brains.

What should the world do with its trash?

You’re right, Lorraine is extremely intelligent and insightful, witty and clear.

What should the world do with its trash?

Lorraine—her clique always defends her, that’s why she persists and the great women of the site like you, AB, JackieOh, Renta, Taylor, etc have left. She even persisted in her ‘apology’ on the HRC thread by critiquing Joni Evans statement that she’d have two additional threads of advice for Cindy McCain and Michelle Obama. She corrected that too “that’s apples and oranges” and to Mary Wells “It’s Senator not Mrs. Clinton” —at the same time constantly attempting to conflate herself with Ms. Manners.

What should the world do with its trash?

Hi Lorraine- I share your opinion. At the end of MP’s post of good intentions is an admonishment to Joni Evans that Joni’s stated intention of three threads of advice to HRC, Michelle Obama and Cindy McCain (a great and fair minded idea) is comparing ‘apples and oranges.’ That mindset is never going to change and she’s created a cultural gulf here with her group-think clique. But with women like you, JackieOh, AB, Renata, and Taylor leaving then there goes the intelligence that would attract more of the same, and this will become the sole domain of “ROLFLMAO” crowd. Hope you will stay and post in your areas of interest that will help attract another demographic. You’re such a terrific woman, was sad that AB’s gone, JackieOh left because of her….not you too. I used to love the site….and hoping that as more women come aboard things will balance out so hope you don’t leave. So now the thread on the environment that I care so much about is wasted for me. I don’t even want to bother seeing this from you. Hope you will reconsider. So my contribution here today, for anyone out there reading who don’t want to post but would like lots of great green links, will be my blog address, which also includes a link to a terrific “Plant a Billion” trees in the Amazon project of the Nature Conservancy. Just hit their image on my site, $1 plants a tree. http://web.mac.com/myfrenchheart And incredibly, there are few things more impactful that you can do for the environment than to become a vegetarian. Factoid: Just foregoing one pound of beef saves the equivalent water of one year’s worth of showers. Plus it is so much healthier. So, here’s a link with more facts: http://ezinearticles.com/?The-1-Way-To-Save-The-Planet-And-Become-Health… Don’t go Lorraine, please! Just ignore instead…I always read your posts and enjoy them, so clear minded, and love the avatar. Thanks.

What advice do you have for Hillary Clinton?

Senator Clinton’s Act II depends on dropping her parsed words and straddled positions, examining where she was most effective and what legacy achievements she wants to achieve. She embodied the Old DLC—it’s gone and she’s left with the largest campaign debt in the history of US elections. Senator Obama personifies the enterprise culture of New Politics, New Media, and New People. He became the hero of the #1 US area for raising political donations by fusing Silicon Valley venture capital smarts with the Web 2.0 leadership of San Francisco. Obama has raised a quarter of a billion with 94% of his supporters giving under $200.00 at a rate of $2M a day, with $100M in donations projected for June. His 750,000+ volunteers operate self-sustained offices across the US are joined with 8,000 affinity groups and 700 employees in replacing the stagnant Old Ways. Money and energy flows to the Next Big Thing. California is America’s richest state. Its wealthiest community is San Francisco-Silicon Valley based in social entrepreneurism. It is Anti-War, #1 in the US in health and fitness, #1 in raising political capital, and #2 in Green. A generation of Luke Skywalker tech warriors—young and young in spirit—fired up their laptops to harness FaceBook, MySpace, LinkedIn, MyYahoo and seize power from the Old Politics and Old Media and place it back in the hands of the New People: the youthful, savvy, and Wi-Fi-ed that share the mission to put Senator Obama in the White House and make this America again. Congrats to Joni Evans, Mary Wells, Liz Smith, Leslie Stahl and the other women of wOw, for the revamped look and for heaping to lead the Culture of Enterprise.

Liz Smith on Hillary: 'A Lot of Obama's Supporters Would Just Die if He Chose Her'

Mrs. Clinton once had a big lead among the party elders, but has been steadily losing it, in large part because of her negative campaign. If she is ever to have a hope of persuading these most loyal of Democrats to come back to her side, let alone win over the larger body of voters, she has to call off the dogs.” Ny Time Editorial “Low Road to Victory” http://www.nytimes.com/2008/04/23/opinion/23wed1.html?ref=opinion

Liz Smith on Hillary: 'A Lot of Obama's Supporters Would Just Die if He Chose Her'

Godessa…..and who ever heard of a primary candidate that lost ‘suspending’ her campaign, instead of conceding, or dropping out? She’s an atty and parses everything. And to think I wasted my time working to get those people elected, and going to anti-impeachment rallies. What a total waste of money, effort and time.
