Hillary has been focussing on health care and social issues for a long time so she could be appointed Secretary of Health and Human Services. She failed once at universal health care so she has all the knowledge of that experience. Secretary of State is beyond her but I would support a seat on the Supreme Court if it arises.

I remember the entire affair, and I also remember that I was not particularly shocked. What had truly horrified me were the earlier murders of his wife and unborn child. (What must this have done to him?) This violence surpasses his attraction to the underaged, sophisticated-beyond-her-years female (he is extremely short, after all) and his flight (he’s a European and had no fealty to the US).

I hope Hillary’s goal on Saturday is to urge her supporters to contribute and vote for Obama, rather than to make sure she has more people at her rally(!) than Obama had at his in St. Paul. She has so much left to give if she doesn’t let her baser nature take over.

Women have a reputation for being self-centered (it’s all about me!), vindictive (hold a grudge), and—as a result—prone to pouts. Instead of proving the stereotype wrong, Hillary’s behavior yesterday supports it, alas. This is not what I want in my President or Vice-President.

The Rilke poem Joan Buck mentions above is one of my favorites. Sadly, I think it should be read at my funeral.
