Ann Coulter's Birthday Wish for Bush (and a Michael-Moore-Free Definition of Patriotism)

I’m not going to defend what I said but I happen to NOT be a liberal. I listen with care and draw conclusions based on discussions that have good arguments, debate that leaves you in scrutiny of what is right and wrong. You make it sound like I’m a big fan of Moore and Mahr, which is not true. However these two bring up real issues and present cases for them. I’m much more likely to listen to people who present a point in any debate. Yes this is MY opinion, Eleanor. Maureen Dowd would not call 9/11 widows self serving cry babies. Bill Mahr would actually HAS republican friends. Michael Moore care about the sick and the economically disenfranchised. Ann Coulter has done NOTHING except went to fancy schools, and write biased books, sell herself on TV shows and stir up emotions just for the sake of being provocative. For your information, I am not just saying this before I lean more to the left. If I were I would be disagreeing with every rightist. But I’m not. I’m simply saying that Coulter is simply awful, no matter which side you lean. And from another 71yr old Republican who posted recently on this site, he happens to think so as well. Btw, if you think Michael Moore spews garbage, obviously you have never done anything worthwhile. That’s all.

What is your favorite perfume? What do you associate with it?

Philosophy’s Amazing Grace. It’s a light scent of fresh roses and a just-showered clean that makes you feel sexy and wonderful.

yah, but they still joined an arm of a government that ordered by the Commander in chief - I guess you are the moron now.

You know, I’ve seen your comments all over this site. If you can’t be constructive things to say and feel that you just like to insult the contributors, this is obviously not the place for you.

You have a good point, Deb. We are all entitled to free expression and speech. BUT… Just to be clear, Ann Coulter said this to Matt Lauer once: (on the subject of 9/11 widows) “These broads are millionaires stalked by stalked by grief-parazzies”? “I have never seen people enjoying their husband’s deaths so much”. I guess she HAS said something that is the worst. Ann is the one person whose freedom of expression should be suppressed from the general public. I’m sure there is a lot of crazy people out there like her, but at least we don’t have them gawk on TV. Hooray for the freedom of speech, I guess…

You have a good point. I fear that the first amendment has worked against us in this regard. Ann is the one person whose freedom of expression should be suppressed from the general public. I’m sure there is a lot of crazy people out there like her, but at least we don’t have them gawk on TV. That’s all I have to say. Hooray to the freedom of speech, I guess…

I think this is a little condescending remark, Bella. Although I know it’s well-intentioned, I think wow readers are intelligent and not merely expressing their disdain for Coulter without some concrete understanding of “the opposition” She is provocative alright, but not ANYWHERE in the vein of Moore. When a person expresses baseless and condescending opinions we do not have to respect her at all. This site is about mindful discourse, not mindless babble. This is why even Bill Mahr has not invited her back to the panel. As he realizes he must present arguments from both sides, he finally realized that Coulter has nothing to offer. EVER.

I couldn’t agree more. I know WOW probably wants to post articles from all angles, but Ann Coulter? Not a single sensible word out of this woman’s mouth. She is hateful, snide, condescending, mean, outrageous for outrageous’ sake and has nothing intelligent to say, and the list goes on and on. How could we call her a “friend”? On Ludlow&Company last night, she sneared that Democratics are the wealthiest people in America and therefore give more to Obama, in response to why Obama receives more election funds from the public. If McCain was getting more money instead, she would probably then go and say that people are supporting him because he is the better man. Ann Coulter also blames the Democrats for the oil crisis. She even bashed Al Gore for being purposefully wishing for global warming so that the environmentalists could use this as an excuse to promote alternative solutons. Come on! I’m all for fair and balanced views but the moment she opens her mouth with that smirky grin, I wonder what this world has turned into. Ann, do us all a favor and make yourself useful and do something for the good of mankind.

Sunday is President George W. Bush's birthday. On this 4th of July, do you have any special birthday wishes for him?

Ms. Coulter, you and Mr. Bush should go away and let America heal themselves from all you mindless and distorted political idiocracy. God!

Happy Birthday to wOw! Plus a New Contributor and a New Design

I think the old site was blog-style but the new redesign is no longer a blog. And I think it’s a good thing.

Oh being critical is good - no worres! :-) I agree that it feels cluttered so perhaps it’s cutting down some so it’s not that overwhelming. The improvement is not small - maybe it’s just me - It’s clear how to get to the women’s pages, clear what the big story is, clear what the most recent posts are, what are ads and not. And finally, all within a more structured way. It’s a big improvement from the last site, which was good, but seem more like a linear set up whereas this one feels like it’s got some real news-like substance.

And oh what happened to my comment I just posted? Did it jump to the last page?!! This is a bit strange. WOuld it be better to put the most recent comments at the beginning, so it’s from new to old. Reverse the order would make more sense!

Always interesting to see how people react to changes in different ways. The way I see it is this: Change can freak you out when you were so used to something, but give it time to marinate. I really loved the content of WOWOW and was thrilled to see that the redesign seem to offer so much more stuff to look at. It now mimics more of a news site, like New York Times or similar, and lots of things to read with clear hierarchy of information. It took me a little bit to get used to but this is a real improvement - Bravo WOWOW team! For those who’s having trouble adjusting, give it some time and I think you’ll apprecate it. The only improvement i would suggest is to add more white space between items so some areas don’t look so cluttered. And maybe because I’m 40 I don’t have a problem with the font size. As long as you give readers a way to adjust text size (which you have) I think it’s good. But put it somewhere consistent at the top of the page so it’s easy to find this function? Nice!
