Dear Margo: When Dad/Gramps Just Ain't Interested

I’m sorry, but I think tattoos are tacky. Probably if I were LW2’s mother I would prefer not to know. I don’t think there is any reason it’s her mother’s business anyway. Presumable this young woman is an adult.

Obama in a Box of His Own Making, by Liz Peek

I don’t see the point of automatically voting against all incumbents. That just sends a message that the elected official can do whatever they want, since they’ll be voted out anyway. Why not look into their voting records and vote accordingly, although that takes more effort.

It's the Abortion Issue, Stupid, by Mr. wOw

I totally agree, CJ. Thanks for your post.

I don’t think teaching young people about safe sex and the downside of having the responsibility of a child to raise equates to "encouraging them to have sex". I don’t think the majority of young women think that they don’t have to bother practicing safe sex if they can just get an abortion. There may be a FEW women like that, but it’s not the norm.

So now you want to have a say in what a woman does with her body!!! Are you going to judge cancer treatments, and decide who gets them?

Liz Peek: Grandiosity, Not Common Sense, Drives Health-Care Bill

"The Federal juggernaut is incapable of doing anything efficiently." You righties seem to think corporations in the private sector are incapable of error, and our government is always wrong. You blindly accept that premise, then evaluate everything through those distorted lenses.

"Glenn Beck in a skirt" - Belinda, you’ve really summed it up! Thank you.

Dear Margo: ... And Maybe Cut Down on the Tequila

I agree with Shana on LW1. As for the adult daughter of divorcing parents, I think she just needs to tell her dad she will always love both her mom & dad, regardless of the divorce, and LEAVE it at that. I see no reason for him to discuss the divrce with her if he chooses not to.

5 Long-Lasting Fashion Trends for Fall, by Paul Podlucky

Is that biker jacket for humans or chimpanzees? The arms are so long!

Dear Margo: And We Have a Winner for the 'Skunk Award'

Many small companies don’t have an HR Department. And, the ladies are grown-ups, there’s no reason why they can’t just tell her to take it down several notches. Then, if that doesn’t work, they can walk away.

E, I think the obnoxious co-worker sounds too dense to "gradually come to her senses".

Obama: We Need Jobs, Not More Speeches, by Liz Peek

No one said it started under Bush. It did however, accelerate on his watch.

Obama: We Need Jobs, Not More Speeches, by Liz Peek

I agree completely, Belinda. Reading Liz Peek’s columns and the comments here is like watching a train wreck! I’m not sure why I bother. That said, it would be nice if we could have a sane discussion. I think Paul Krugman has a lot of good ideas, and I wish President Obama would listen to Paul Volcker instead of Geithner and Summers.

Maybe Frank will "get over it" when deber gets over her worship of GWB.

Dear Margo: Her Mother, the Dinosaur

I can’t think of any loud feminists in recent years, feminists haven’t been newsworthy for years. Yet so many of us feel compelled to qualify anything positive we say in favor of women with the preface, "I’m not a feminist, but…"
