Iranian Women Declare War Against the Mullahs, by Manda Zand-Ervin and Banafsheh Zand-Bonazzi

I am wondering if anyone has seen the movie “The Beauty Academy of Kabul.” The courage and triumph of women in these extraordinary repressed situations has always bowled me over.

Who's the Most Persecuted Group in Iran?

Which word did you not understand? Are you one of the founders? Unless you are, frankly I don’t know why you keep interjecting here.

Is anyone minding the store here? Do any of the wOw women actually ever read these threads? Can we please get rid of this stuff? It’s one thing not to interact with your posters (as first promised when you announced your site) but at least hire someone or a couple people and keep track of what goes on. Plugs for dating sites are allowed on a serious thread here now? Have you ever heard of quality control? Frank’s flirting is barely tolerable but now this…

Sorry, but you managed to miss the point. This was about the founders of the site, not the posters.

The Silver Tsunami: Is Gray the New Power Hair Color for Women?

OK, should we synchronize the colors on our screens? I mean, hello? There is blonde and there is gray and only a very few of those shown here are gray. Their colorists must be planning a revolt as I type this. Annie Lennox, Helen Mirren, Chazz Levi and Geraldine Fabrikant are anything BUT gray. You probably thought Marilyn Monroe, Jayne Mansfield and Carole Lombard were gray, too. If you are going to present an idea like this, do your homework. More than half of those shown here are about as gray as the class picture above with the wOw founders, which means not very. (Bottle) blonde (and in many cases, about two identical hair styles) is obviously the new gray here. That’s all fine but tell it like it is. We come to this site for that, nothing less.

As it happens, when the site first appeared, I sent many of my friends, Jewish and not, here. Also many of my late husband’s Jewish relatives. Most were not impressed enough to return. It doesn’t matter how many of the foounders here are Jewish if they don’t introduce the pertinent issues into the threads since we are not able to start our own threads here as with comparable sites. Overall though, I do not find the founders that involved with us posters anyway though, it is kind of like Upstairs, Downstairs, and in view of the fact that this is what was originally offered, I find the site very disappointing.

The editors here must be asleep at the switch again. Tsunami? Hello? Was there no other word choice available that did not smack of recent international tragedy and disaster? Who writes this stuff?

HINT: IT’S NOT THE JEWS”? Isn’t this a bit glib for the subject matter? Who are you, Jackie Mason? All persecution is repugnant but this goes out of its way, I feel, to diminish Jewish suffering. Although I am not Jewish myself, my late husband was. I can understand the anger and dismay of Jewish people everywhere when things like this appear in print. Come to think of it though, there is so little Jewish presence on wOw, and so much talk about Christian-this and Christian-that, who would notice?

Lost Heroines: Angel of the Battlefield

I meant interesting about Nancy Hart. Howzabout an article about her?

Lost Heroines: Angel of the Battlefield

Clara Barton? Forgotten? As a teacher, I taught about Clara Barton all the time. Everyone knows about her. This space should be used to uncover women no one knows. Apart from this, the writing is now lackluster and missing the original oomph. What happened, wOw?

What Katharine Hepburn Taught Me About Life and Death

I guess old professions die hard. I used to be a teacher and then a principal. I’m retired now but I still like to see the rules of grammar observed and it makes my hair stand on edge when on this site of all places, there is such carelessness. I am hoping the editors can get up to speed soon, otherwise the report card for wOw not be a good one and they will have to stay after class!

Lie About Your Age, by Dr. Judith Sills

Is this site going backwards in time or forwards? These topics get more and more depressing because they reinforce the worst female stereotypes. Last week it was whether we could change tires, now it’s about our age and whether we lie about it. Worse than that, we’re being told we should, on a site for women over 40, where we are supposed to accept and love ourselves. Or so I thought.

What Katharine Hepburn Taught Me About Life and Death

Why did this say Cynthia was Hepburn’s “former” best friend? Who was her latter one? Does anyone edit this site? I cant believe how many errors there are here all the time gramatically, not from the people who post, from the wOwers. Very sloppy, careless and not professional. What a surprise from such professional people.
