It wasn’t highly charged 37 years ago when the law and the people were very clear: this ghastly crime deserved the death penalty. The criminals were fortunate to evade that and instead live in a campus-like, lowscape prison where they went to school, belonged to groups, married, even had children in Tex Watson’s case. While tormenting the victim’s families with nearly 100 separate parole hearings, interviews with Larry King, Diane Sawyer, and also in making money, ie Tex Watson’s ministry, and in Susan Atkin’s also being her husband and presumably billing the state for her services….ie driving to the hospital where she’s been since March to advise her on this compassionate release etc. I wonder if we pay for the whole visit after educating her and paying for her housing, health, dental, psychological services, clothes, food, her lawsuit against the Gov for holding her as a ‘political prisoner’ etc. And now a few misguided people want her released so she can go to the beach—her stated wish—and which she gave up the right to 37 years ago. It’s only highly charged because some people not only side with the mass murderer’s request, but characterize those who don’t as ‘unprincipled’ and a danger to the mass murderer. On most sites there is no equivocating on what this mass murderer deserves. The Hitlers and the Mansons can only exist because of their ‘hired-gun’ supporters that do their bidding and protect them as well.

Elaine- The First Commandment ‘Thou Shalt Not Kill’ and we all know that by age 6. Dona is most definitely a great woman and as she’s stated she is for victim’s rights and justice including for the families. The killers in this heinous case got their parole by a fluke when they escaped the death penalty and since then they’ve put the families through 37 years of hell with all of their parole requests. Susan Atkins wants to go die in Laguna Beach. Imagine how that would feel to her family that spent the rest of their lives working for victim’s rights. A very few here (or in the majority population) are for a compassionate release, few are ever granted. It would do massive harm to help one individual who doesn’t deserve it. Once my brother actually encountered 3 twenty-somethings going through my mothers jewelry drawer when there were a string of break-ins around the country-club/golf course area where they lived. My brother was asleep during the day in a lower bedroom because he was in college and worked at night for an airlines. He heard them, got a hunting rifle out of the closet in that room. Snuck upstairs and behind them My brother is 6’4”. He raised the run and cocked-it. The three looked up in the mirror about the dresser and saw his reflection and started running around the room like mice looking for a way out. There wasn’t one. He said throw your driver’s licenses over here. He took down their addresses and said if there was one more house invasion in the neighborhood—he’d give the police their info. Chef Zee, Renata and Taylor were both subjected to many vile including overtly racist attacks (esp by sabiella) because they disagreed with Mugsy. Thus her supercilious ROTFLMAO Troop set on them. Maurine you are right that she is where she belongs. Slight correction though, she is in a hospital near the prison and has been since March. And she was convicted of 1st degree murder of 8, not 2, and back then her 8 1/2 month fetus about to be born, and already named Paul, wasn’t counted as a person. Sharon Tate’s mother helped change victims justice and rights laws, as did her sister Patti, and now with both of them dead, Debra Tate carries on. As a result of their work, fetuses are included in murder counts today.
