Life in the Little Lane: Edith Ann and Obama

YAAY! This should be the newest US postage stamp either that or it’d make for a lovely Holiday card. “And that’s the truth..pthhhhh”

Mother Earth Care-toon: Vote 'No'!

Jane, We can officially unleash the butterflies and celebrate. Come the New Year we will hopefully be witnessing change for the better – an earthly metamorphosis! Huggles xo the Fefester

Liz Smith Is Shy?

Actually makes me think of a poem I just stumbled across recently. Give Life Your All… To laugh is to risk appearing the fool; To weep is to risk appearing sentimental; To reach out for another is to risk involvement To expose feeling is to risk exposing your true self. To place your ideas and your dreams before the crowd is to risk their loss To love is to risk not being loved in return To live is to risk dying To hope is to risk despair To try is to risk failure. But risk must be taken, because the greatest hazard in life is to risk nothing The person who risks nothing, does nothing, has nothing and is nothing; They may avoid suffering and sorrow, but they simply cannot learn, feel change, grow, love, Live Chained by their certitude, they are a slave, they have forfeited freedom; Only the person who risks is free. ~~ Author Unknown ~~

Well said James! I second the sentiment :)

What is your biggest lie?

Most of the time when we lie it’s used as a mechanism to prevent hurt or disappointment…. …….or to avoid confrontation providing us with some false sense of comfort. Whatever the reason a lie is a lie is a lie and one cannot help but feel guilty about it. I try to be as honest and sincere as possible (no matter the consequences)because nothing is worse than getting caught in a lie. I was once told: “to live deeply with courage and honesty, and challenge fiercely the pain that comes with this”.

Mother Earth Care-toon: The Butterfly Effects

Thank you Jane! When I first read The Search a little over 10 years ago I was filled with a sense of wonderment by the many collages that filled the pages. I’m so happy your sharing your artistic endeavors with us WOWers. I never had a way with words but they say a picture is worth a thousand words. Well, your collages are worth at least a thousand and one! Love from the fefster xo

Joan Juliet Buck: Tearing off the Veil of Childhood

Beautiful story Joan!! I really feel teachers collectively nurture our inner soul… the moment you step into a teacher’s realm (whether it be their classroom or in the community) it truly is life altering. They share with us the gift to freely express ourselves on our journey through life. They prepare us as best as they can to access tools for whatever we encounter in our future xo Little Fefe

Joan Ganz Cooney's Fighting Words

Awwww what a beautiful anecdote Joan! “A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom in the pupils.”

Yesterday was World Teachers' Day. Who was your favorite teacher and why?

My dad. He is the reason why I’m well on my way to becoming a future teacher. I only hope I can be at least half amazing as he is as well as the other teachers who continue to inspire me and keep me humbled. “A teacher is a compass that activates the magnets of curiosity, knowledge, and wisdom in the pupils.”

Well said Carol :) Perhaps it’s not too late. Things have a funny way of working out. Lets just hope it’s sooner rather than later! *hugs Little Fefe

Life in the Little Lane: Henny Penny

Dear Little e. big A. Fefester here to tell you I have a sneaking suspicion you were cloud watching again and this would explain this “The sky is falling” notion. I know after I’ve spent hours lying on my back on a hill looking up at the sky and following the clouds as they float by I feel as if the sky is falling or at least moving (in a way it is because the earth is constantly rotating). However, the way the economy and environment is heading I’m sure that many truly feel like the sky is falling just as everything else is! You know what? Some grown-ups have told me to “get my head out of the clouds” – whatever that means. Someone told me that wasn’t a very endearing idiom so I just figure those grown-ups who tell me that are just being ole’ sticks in the mud. I’ve grown enough and am quite content being who I am. I don’t see the big deal…. as if what I am now isn’t great enough. Now if you’ll excuse me but there’s a glass of choco-milk just waiting for me to blow bubbles in. Do you ever do that EA? *Lots of huggles from the Fefester* Taken from the film, A Little Princess: Miss Minchin: Don’t tell me you still fancy yourself a princess? Child, look around you! Or better yet, look in the mirror. Sara Crewe: I am a princess. All girls are. Even if they live in tiny old attics. Even if they dress in rags, even if they aren’t pretty, or smart, or young. They’re still princesses. All of us.
