Change the World

My dear Kay Sara - I too have often wonder why these injustices continue to take place today! It’s incredible the amount of prejudice we are faced with on a daily basis…. I really feel mostly it is because people choose to remain “uneducated” or learn to fear what they cannot or will not understand.. that’s part of it. But no matter what, there is no excuse for it - it has got to stop! :(

Change the World

Thank you very much Christine! That looks like a perfect place to start. And if WOW doesn’t pick up on this healthy eating thing or exploration of food consumption I’m tempted to start a blog to get the conversation going. Thanks again and feel free to share away :)

Life in the Little Lane: Edith Ann on the Obama Family Interview

I think the interview was quite refreshing. It was “real” in a sense because it just captured them as a family, right there, living in the moment together reflecting on simple things in life quite intelligently. No back talk about someone or double talk - just a heart to heart chat. As for the critics or skeptics - heaven forbid if they show their tender side once and a while. As a society we don’t seem to value traits, such as intellect, tenderness, strength of spirit, passion or traits that inspire others to greatness. As for Hillary, I really enjoyed watching this candid interview with young starlets - Amber Tamblyn and America Ferrera: http://youtube.com/watch?v=v8frN4Rou_s It placed them all in a lovely perspective because the issues discussed were just as real and they emitted so much elegance and sincerity.

WOW that’s fantastic Linda! Thank you for sharing this. It’s true we are learning so much from our friends here. I hope they take the suggestion up because this section could have so much potential. I think it’d be fun and very beneficial to swap little tips, recipes, etc. back and fourth. Remember when you are watering your garden the BEST time to water it is any time before 11AM otherwise wait until evening because the bright sun will soak up most of the water before it gets to the plants.

'How Lily and I Tried to Celebrate July the 4th'

WOW over 700+ and still going strong! Do ya think the thread will make 1,000? It’s incredible to see all these thoughts and ideas being swapped back and fourth. Little tidbits of conversations here and there. New cyber friendships forming right before our eyes. It’s fantastic to see! Lets keep up the positivity and those thoughts going. I came across this little poem today. It really tugged at my heart: “A Humanist Code of Ethics: Do no harm to the earth, she is your mother. Being is more important than having. Never promote yourself at another’s expense. Hold life sacred; treat it with reverence. Allow each person the digity of his or her labor. Open your home to the wayfarer. Be ready to receive your deepest dreams; sometimes they are the speech of unblighted conscience. Always make restitutions to the ones you have harmed. Never think less of yourself than you are. Never think that you are more than another.” - Arthur Dobrin

Terrific! Well, I took your suggestion and left a little message in the Change the World section. I’ve already emailed them about it a while ago but no response. At least I’ve tried. Maybe something will come of it :) Thanks again. Huggles xo Fefe

Speaking of health.. I’d love to see a section on WoW devoted to food and our consumption habits! I think it is vitally important since we spend more than half of our lifetime consuming food and beverages of all sorts. We need a place to swap cherished recipes/cuisines, discuss healthy lifestyle choices/alternatives, learn more about toxin-free products and exploring current issues about the food we eat. The more aware we become of the world around us - the closer we are to finding solutions to countless ailments and issues that affect our daily standard of living :)

Hehe Thanks Frannie! Do you second a section devoted to “Food/Environment”? I think it’d have SO much potential! Afterall, we spend half our lifetime consuming food.

Thanks Georgia! Yes it’s true - they have terrific climate for a year long growing season. That’s why we need to take care of planet Earth. I cannot wait for Solar panels to become more affordable so we can harness the Sun’s energy and bring down our over all ecological footprint. It’s going to take a GREAT amount of effort and investment but it’ll be so worth it - our quality of life depends on it! Just think the impact it would make if we all maintained a garden, recycled and conserved energy. And I hear ya about the Mediterranean - it’s so tempting to be able to grow such stuff! HEY - wouldn’t it be great if WOW started a section on Food? A place to share recipes and delve into cultural delights. This site has so much potential to be diverse! I’d love to see something like that. Anyway, you take care and have a good week xo huggles Little Fefe

Here’s a thought (perhaps someone has already mentioned it)… Start a little garden of your own with tomatoes, cucumbers, carrots, parsley, etc. It’s fun and that way you at least know some of the veggies you are eating are super fresh!!! Last year nearly our whole neighbourhood got involved and we were trading our veggies back & fourth. Anyway, I’m sure there’s a few green patches left in LA.. Edith, I hope you enjoy peanut butter sandwiches ‘coz they’re good for ya! On whole wheat bread - they make a complete protein. Splurge sometime and have a little green tea ice cream :) *huggles xo Little Fefe

Oh the irony…the North American diet/way of life. Best off moving to somewhere in the Mediterranean that’s where all the REAL food is…

Have you ever met a stranger on a plane with whom you've formed a relationship?

Unfortunately, I am not wealthy enough to take plane trips frequently (they are the next thing to being once in a lifetime kind of thing) but… I have formed a few friendships whilst traveling on the bus. I’ve also crossed paths with some “interesting” characters on the bus — to say the least; definitely livens up the daily 3 1/2 hour commute.

At work, was there a time when you realized, not only were you not the youngest person in the room, but you were the oldest?

I still maintain age is just a number.. it’s how old you want to feel! I know several individuals at my workplace whose “number” is further along than most - but a great deal of them have captured a youthful spirit compared to the ones who are earlier in their “years”. Anyone can embody youthfulness no matter what stage in life. My 90 “year-old” grandmother can run circles around those who are half her age! I never like to think in years or age - I think in experience and I think the further along we get in life the more fascinating it becomes.

What's one thing you can't live without?

Air, love, peace, health and sunshine! “Oh how life humbles us.. we do not grow old - we grow wise”

Message to All Whining Female Democrats: Hillary's Out. Get Over It, by Barbara Goldsmith

Women are hardest on themselves! I’ve never seen such a group inflict such negativity and criticism upon themselves.. it’s so very disappointment and gets sickening. I hope one day soon we can get past this point and center on the important issues.
