Obama to Brief Congress Tonight on Domestic Plan

Tennessee could reject a portion of the $787 billion economic stimulus package out of concerns that it would force the state to raise taxes on businesses in the future.

By Chas Sisk • THE TENNESSEAN • February 25, 2009

Yeah, right. I’ve lived in this right wing republican conservative state of Tennessee all my life. Believe me when the stakes are down they will grab the money and run with it and the schools and infrastructure will not see a dime. I love the mountains, the beauty of my birth state but the bible toting, white sheet wearing wingnuts do get on my last nerve.

Power to the people!!! We will overcome!!!!

So right, DeBurca, I still have nightmares of that leer on Cheney’s face. He knew he was screwing the hell out of this country and he was enjoying it so much that he couldn’t hide it. I do have strong negative feeling for that man. Even more than for W. I think W. was just not smart enough to realize that he has totally trashed his family’s chances of ever having a future in the government in the future.

I love our President and feel our country will dig our way out of this disaster. If only the Republicans will get out of the way.

The republicans seem to forget that the first bailout was approved also by them and there was no oversite. Where is the money and what did they do with it before leaving office after the election? Bush’s Sec. of Treasury got down on his knees to Pelosi just salivating to get his hands on the billions of dollars. American’s were scared silly by the almost daily press comments by Bush (more than he had spoken to them the whole time in office) insisting the bailout was needed. Then the Sec. of the Treasury was give complete discretion and did no oversite. Where is the money?????

Belinda, in this difficult time in our history we certainly have the right person leading. It makes me proud the U.S. is leading. He was so confident and inspiring and the country and world needs to hear that right now.

Dee Dee Myers Reveals Why Harvard's Women's Rooms Say It All

Maurine, I’m so in tune with you.

It’s a quantum leap from the present world status, but women as respected and influential decision-makers can be the catalysts to make the changes and progress so key to our survival as civilized beings" Maurine H, 2/24/2009.

We have to evolve, IMO, we have been static too long. There is always a catalyst and I have such high hopes that our POTUS is that catalyst.

Did Ann Coulter Sway Lefties Her Way During Joy Behar Interview? (Video)

Frannie, give my thanks to your son. I don’t know how to express my frustration..As Sally Field once said "If mothers ruled the world there would be no more g*dd*mn wars."

I hope our new POTUS has a plan for a swift end to our involvement in Afghanistan.

Love to you and your family.

Octomom's Father, Ed Doud, Lands on 'Oprah'

Something doesn’t smell right in this situation. It takes lots of money for IVF treatments and the mom appears to have had cosmetic surgery. Where did all this money come from. Not workman’s comp. It just doesn’t pay that much and even if her settlement was $168,000 that doesn’t cover all the medical treatments performed. Already 6 IVF children, cosmetic surgery and then 8 IVF babies?

Pope to Pelosi: Catholic Politicians Should Not Support Abortion

Hi, DeB, you are so right. The wealthy have menstrual extractions, which are really early term abortions. I have personally seen it written on admission sheets many times. People who think that abortions should be a legal issue just don’t understand medicine.

Liz Smith: Remembering Natalie Wood, On Screen and Off

Thanks for the memories, Ms. Liz. Natalie was so beautiful and a wonderful actress. I was so young when I saw "Splendor" I didn’t understand it but still I knew it was great because Natalie was just "commanding" (for want of a better word) on the screen.

Pope to Pelosi: Catholic Politicians Should Not Support Abortion

I think hate is a very harsh word. But ask Ms. Howard. Her mother, Ann Landers, once wrote a question in her national column asking parents if they, knowing what they then knew, would have had children. She said she was shocked at the response. So many of the parents said they would not have children. Many, many more than the ones who said they would have children.

This is not in response to abortion one way or another. Just an observation about how people felt about having children  20 years ago.

Alone on Valentine's Day? Au Contraire! by Kathryn Bild

Beverly, thanks for sharing with us on Wowowow. I have written, on several occasions, of personal pain and frustrations and had some of the most amazing, kind advice offered here on this site. There are some of the most caring, giving people I have had an opportunity to “know” here and I cherish them very much. Please feel free to sometimes express frustrations, feelings. Some on this site have experienced awesome trials and difficulties in life and come out as winners in the end as you will learn as you read the comments. I have learned so much from them and know you will too. Give an extra hug to the grandkids today from all .

John Updike's Funeral: Revelations of a Double Life

Susan and Phyllis, thanks for articulating my thoughts. Loved his novels, brilliant! His personal life was an inspiration for his insights to the human condition. Helped me not be judgemental and do my job when I peoples’ lives were out of the ordinary, different, and still they hurt, became ill and needed care. I tried not to judge. Having read Updike helped me a lot.

Ginsburg Cancer Could Open Justice Seat for Another Woman

Hi Alex, I did the research for you. Check the link below. There are multiple others. Your $500K a year is a little steep. And factoring in 80 hour work weeks with big law firms. A person needs to have a passion for law to be successful. More power to them. However I didn’t have the passion and believe me I studied law and economics because I was wanting out of the life I had been born into, one of poverty. However, having a patient take my hand and thank me for administering a pain medication or explaining what the doctor had said on his 15 minute visit during rounds…that thank you meant I would work even harder. That is the way some people are “made”. We need the “strokes” and good will received by doing a good job.By the way, I was smart enough to retire at 60 with 2 houses, no debt and a relative nice Paid For car along with my husband having a restored Corvette, his love after me and the kids. Others get satisfaction from making a lot of money. That is what makes the world so interesting, don’t you think.Check out the link below, interesting information. http://www.job-employment-guide.com/average-lawyer-salary.html
