My mother is in it’s early stage of dementia. Some days are good, some are not so good. You can literally see the deterioration of the mind. We accept it, we are not ashamed by it. After all it’s just another illness like the others. The only difference is that you will wake up one morning and your mother would not remember you. Airing that in public is in poor taste, I think. Perhaps Ms. Thatcher has a reason for doing so.

My mother will be 80 years old this October. She was diagnosed with vascular dementia 5 years ago. She is also diabetic and had hip replacement surgery last March. It was very difficult for her to be house bound since she was a very active woman before her illness. Since her eyesight is failing due to diabetes, my brother and I have been her caregivers. With the help of my sister-in-law, we are able to care for our mother without any outside help. Once in a while, our youngest sister woul bring our mother to her home which is 60 miles away and would stay there for a week or two. We value the days that our mother is still with us since she may be taken away from us any time.

Celebrities show their support for their favorite politicos in any stage, be it theGrammys or the Oscars. I sometimes watch the Oscars for its entertainment value, not for political content. IMO, there is a place for politics and its not in entertainment, or do politicians think they are entertainers? BTW, how many votes does a celebrity bring?
