Liz Peek: Grandiosity, Not Common Sense, Drives Health-Care Bill
Belinda I like Obama but I do not like this healthcare plan for the reasons I have stated above. I have family who live in Canada, my aunt is a dr and my cousin an OR nurse - to hear their horror stories and then to be involved in it when I was there this past summer - it was a nightmare. thankfully i didnt have to take my daughter to one of their clinics like i thought i was going to but on the day i was i drove by the clinic b/c I am nosey & the line was outrageous. the clinic is open from 1pm to 5pm and then from 8 pm to 1 am….people will wait during the break just to stay in line and be there when it clinic reopens again…is that what you want to see here? I dont….
Yes I currently have coverage and yes its could bankrupt us if something major happened but I dont know if having govt run healthcare would be any better….from what i have seen and heard of medicare that is already run by the govt.

Belinda - I have said over and over what I feel the Govt can do NOW to take care of those Americans who are without coverage - extend Medicare to them NOW. Stop waiting and do it! Why not change and make better what we already have in place - why do we need something new? People say Medicare isnt run very well - OK that is TRUE - who runs it - the Govt - so how the heck does the Govt think it can run another healthcare program?
Those are all questions I have posed on this site that I have never gotten any answers to - I am not bias b/c I am one of those young families that struggle to pay healthcare bills and I have full coverage for myself and my daughter. Our deductible killed us this year so yes I know what its like to struggle. I am currently on payment plans for 3 medical bills.
SO please tell me why the Govt who cant run Medicare can run this new program?

To Helen - if you dont like what Liz has to say dont read her threads…
Ok I have a question for all the "left leaning" : the stimulas money that Liz did mention above, your ok with where those funds went? Instead of seeing those funds go to oh lets say Healthcare costs????
Yes we need healthcare to every American but at what cost? At what cost to me and my family who is barely making it as it is now? Who goes to the Dr and uses her healthcare…thankfully havent had any major issues with it and hopefully never will…Love my Drs and dont want to see any of them suffer from this public option…
There is so much fraud with Medicare and yes its said they are trying to cut if down but were talking millions a month - checks go out before the cliams are even looked at??? Why not extend medicare to everyone who needs healthcare - why do we need something else….
I really do hate to say this b/c I hope Im wrong but so far I havent seen anything to prove me wrong but I think Obama is trying to pass this healthcare so he can go down in the history books again as the 1st President to do this or that…The only hope I have is the upcoming elections will show Obama how the American people really feel and maybe just maybe Obama and his team will listen, doubt it but it would be nice.
My last thought - where are the jobs? I mean we were promised jobs would be here NOW YET were still loosing them faster then getting them…so where are they?
David Letterman vs. John Edwards: When someone comes clean about their wrongdoing, are you more willing to forgive them?
Yes its nice when someone can be honest from the beginning but these men and woman was not honest until after they had to be…That does not put it all A OK.
Driving skills? Handwriting? What do you find is the strongest indicator of someone's personality?
I know some really great people but their handwriting sucks - I tend to be an aggressive driver and I do think that fits part of my personality. :)
I do my best to treat others as I would want to be treated.
'Pilots Have Been Sleeping in Airplanes Since There Were Airplanes'
I agree some pilots may need more sleep between shifts…But like Belinda said this was a profession they chose. Just like being a Dr - you go thru your internship where you may not sleep but 10 mins within 48 hours YET we still hold them up to a standard like no other.
Thankfully these pilots falling asleep did not cause them to crash into another plane or a building…
I recently stayed at a hotel and the curtains were drawn and during the day there was no sunlight coming in. If your tired enough - which it seemed these pilots were so tired they were able to sleep ever after being called by air traffic control for hours and the beeps and sounds in the cockpit - they could have slept during their downtime.
As most of you know my husband profession doesnt allow them much sleep from shift to shift YET again we hold them in a higher standard as they get to carry guns.
'Pilots Have Been Sleeping in Airplanes Since There Were Airplanes'
I can add this to my already long list as WHY I dont fly! I mean really - Im sorry but I dont think they were on their laptops - I will have to say that I agree, they were asleep. I mean if you were on your laptop - how easy would it have been to answer the several calls made to you by air traffic control - easy! If you were asleep and didnt hear it - that sounds a little more like the truth. Either way - these two pilots may loose their jobs so fess up to what really happened.
I also agree with Linda - those who have jobs - why are you complaining about them? Be happy & thankful you still have a job, I may not like mine some days but I’ll take it over the alternative.
