What's the best thing you do for YOU?

Take a walk then watch CNN. I can’t get enough of CNN. It’s crazy, but CNN is my guilty pleasure.

Lesley Stahl Questions ... Curtis Sittenfeld, Author of American Wife

I’m a liberal Democrat yet I’ve found Laura Bush an intriguing character. Look forward to reading Curtis Sittenfeld’s book.

Do you want to live to be 100? Why or why not?

Yes. At least to 100, good health and mind and enough money to support myself and a husband/boyfriend and/or pet. I don’t want to be old and alone. My daughter is a hospital social worker. She runs into centenarians all the time. She’s always impressed with how clear their minds and healthy their bodies. There by the grace of God.

HerTube: Art Appreciation With French and Saunders

What a treat. Thank you, Josie. I’m a bit of a French/Saunders nut too.

If you could switch careers today, what would you choose as your new field?

Good for you, Sheila. Good luck. Let us know how you’re doing.

If you could switch careers today, what would you choose as your new field?

You are very courageous, Kelly. Way to go!! Have you considered schooling to become a para-legal?

What was your favorite movie of the summer?

Wowzeewowzeewow. Pay dirt. Thank you so much for the link, TeeZee.

What was your favorite movie of the summer?

How I yearn for those days, Susan, when going to the movies was an escape. Unfortunately, lately it’s all about people sitting behind me making a nuisance of themselves - talking, cellphone chimes, feet kicking the seat. UGH!

I want to grow up to be the female Huell Howser, videographer. If you live outside of California you probably don’t know him. He travels all over the state talking to people about their hometown or travel location. I’ve learned a lot about California from my armchair. He’s amazingly charming, interesting, interested and insightful. Lots of fun to watch and he gives us ideas of places to visit within our own beautiful state. His website: http://www.calgold.com

Vogue India Photos of Poor Dressed as Rich Criticized as 'Distasteful'

Once a year, when we clean out our closets and donate old clothes, shoes and handbags to charity we don’t know where those items may land. Should we refrain from donating a Burberry umbrella, a Birkin purse or a Fendi bib so they won’t find their way into new homes?

The wowOwow Reader Forum on Governor Palin

Whether Sarah Palin withdraws or continues her candidacy she’s a winner - she’s got global name recognition. Good for her. We need more women at the forefront of both political parties.

THE BEAUTY ACADEMY OF KABUL is a documentary by director Liz Mermin. Her cameras followed the opening of the first beauty school in Afghanistan after the Taliban left. Hundreds of students showed up the first day for an opportunity to be one of 20 students selected. Mermin filmed the frustrations of doing business with Afghanistan’s newly formed government; enthusiasm of the teaching staff, students and their families; culture clash between the students and their Western teachers; and how tiny steps can begin healing a nation. Rented from Netflix. And watched on computer.

HerTube: Happy Labor Day!

Three cheers to those who demanded fair labor laws for all working people. And thanks for the history lesson. Somewhere in my education I must have learned the significance of Labor Day. But I forgot. Tomorrow the American flag gets erected on the front porch greeting all who join us for lunch.
