Joan Juliet Buck: The Root of Man's Fear

Ding Ding Ding… We have a winner.

Which White House Candidate Fares Better on What Women Want?

Because of the way people’s eyes glazed over when Palin was announced.

Liz Peek: None of Us Will Find Ourselves at Our ATM Machines With No Money Coming Out

Why should the companies be forced to accept responsibility when we can just foist these costs on the taxpayers and the next generation? And don’t tell me that these CEO’s and their billions in bonuses contributed to this. That’s just a cop-out.

Fans, Scientology Protestors Gather for Katie Holmes's Broadway Performance

Hmm, if people showed up to protest her Catholic/Protestant/Jewish/Muslim religion, would we support that? I have a hard time with this group, but if we support freedom of religion (and we do), we don’t get to pick and choose which ones can be free. However, we also support freedom of speech; hence these ninnies get to shout out their prejudice.

Stocks Soar on News of U.S. Government Bank Bailout

The dogmas of the quiet past are inadequate to the stormy present. The occasion is piled high with difficulty, and we must rise with the occasion. As our case is new, so we must think anew and act anew. Abraham Lincoln

Palin Disinvited From Anti-Iran Rally at U.N. After Clinton Pullout

Well, nobody would be able to soothe your fears better than John “Bomb bomb bomb” Iran. Once he starts a war with Iran and Russia, your fears of today will seem like a fantasy. Why are they pushing to add an unstable “nation” like Georgia to NATO. Do they know that if that were to happen, and Russia attacked them we would be compelled to defend Georgia with our sons and daughters? Do you think Putin wouldn’t love to see us shuffle our already stretched troops accross Eastern Europe to confront him? It’s pure madness, and is going the radar because of the financial meltdown. Lovely.

This was a failure to regulate on a massive level. This was a financial Katrina.

I love the old school play of trying to blame the Liberals, especially the ones from Massachusetts. After all, what did that state every bring us, besides liberty and the revolution and all. Damn them. But I thought Johnny McCain was screaming for deregulation all these years, and that Phil Gramm, Johnny’s Economic advisor, wrote the deregulation acts of the 1980’s that got us here. Silly me. Those silly low income people, wanting to own homes. They should have just continued to rent out the slums in Potterville, instead of going to the Bailey’s Savings and Loan. Good thing that they GOP stepped in and made sure that there were no regulators lurking around to confirm/deny the health of these loans. Now, let’s get back to your panic stricken blaming of the Democrats.

Psst: Your article says: “As it turns out, John McCain did — and partnered with three other Senate Republicans to reform the government’s involvement in lending three years ago.” That would have been 2005, and a republican congress and senate, but nobody is paying attention, so don’t worry. Also, those aren’t really sentences, grammatically speaking.

Exactly! Why blame the republican’s when they only: have been in power for the last 8 years; pushed for the deregulations that got us here (Which was authored by McCain advisor Phil Gramm) and then ignored the situation as it started to blow up in their faces. No, I agree. It’s all the fault of the Democrats because they have had marginal control over the House and Senate for the last two years. (PHEW! Good work WE D. I was worried that we in the GOP might have to be accountable for something) Please collect your McCain points!

Kitty, A laissez faire style of government got us here and only a laissez faire approach will get us out, until it doesn’t, and then we can revert to socialism and bail out these “risk takers.” and for MY money, nobody is laissez fairer than John McCain.
