I don’t know - I kind of feel like with a pre-nup you are beginning your marriage with the thoughts of failure which doesn’t sound too good to me. This wasn’t an issue for us - I suppose one can always find some benefit to not being wealthy! On the other hand - from a legal standpoint the protection a pre-nup gives can be very beneficial. And speaking of wealth - yikes - I wish I could pull all my money out of SmithBarney and put it in the sock drawer, the only method my husband feels secure with. Very depressing situation. I worked too hard for that money to see it just disappear … Take care all!

Hi all! My husband is 13 years younger than me - we celebrate our 21st anniversary tomorrow actually. As his hair now is getting gray I have become free to let mine go gray. Before that I didn’t want people thinking I was his mother or something!! I’m not sure this would work had it been my first marriage due to the fact that as Frannie mentioned, I would not like having to “grow him up.” I had to do that with my first husband who was actually 5 years older than me. The numbers really don’t mean a whole lot for the most part, do they? I just turned 66 but I intend to be around for another 40 years and I am 20 in my heart. One of the benefits I am now reaping is that I was able to retire a year ago and keep up my same lifestyle as he will still be working for another 12-13 years! Josie - I agree with you. And on that note - look at Ellen and Portia! Ellen is several years older than Portia and they are so much in love and so happy to be married.

Love you Woopi!! You know there are hundreds and hundreds of us who support you and your beliefs and it is too bad there are those one or two who have to spout off with hurtful remarks. Michelle - I so agree with you regarding your being puzzled by the term “African American.” We need to get rid of that like your friend from Africa and remember that we are all Americans! From my “white blond” grandaughters to my half Latino grandsons to my half black grandchildren. They and we are all simply Americans.

I give it a good go when reading the morning paper Mugsy - sometimes even that becomes too much. We have a main paper that is pretty Republican oriented and then an insert that is more to our liking. Like you say reading is easier … you can take a break and a few deep breaths! Yesterday I took a day off from the norm and read a complete book - it was great.

I really admire all of you who have the gumption to watch the Repub Convention. I just can’t bear to sit and listen to their crap - can I say that here? It makes me sick - I’m tired of seeing it in the paper, hearing it on the radio and TV. The scary part to me is the people who actually follow the Republican views and agree with it all. I can’t comprehend where their heads are. I have family members who are of a certain religion that simply follow their leaders’ very strong recommendations to vote Republican. They are like little sheep. I probably have the wrong attitude - maybe I should be watching it all so I can learn all I can learn, be able to carry on a good argument for my side. Its just so darn open and obvious to me - there is no choice to be made if we want to keep our America. Why doesn’t everyone understand and see that? Thanks again Whoopi! Now I have to go clean my front room and then I can sit and watch my recorded VIEW!!

Well said everybody! Thank you Whoopi!! It was great to hear you express these same views on the View this morning! We absolutely must defeat McCain and Palin and I do truly believe we will. I’m not as good with my words when it comes to politics but reading what all of you have had to say I have no doubt that there is great power behind Obama and Biden and we will indeed reign victorious!! I keep wondering how any woman of a 4-month old baby could bear to leave it so much like she obviously is. This is such a tiny new little person that really needs its mother!! Sad …

My son just bought a 5th wheel for his family to go camping (to make the wife happier) and I am so jealous. We are sort of home-bound due to an old dog who is blind and deaf and we really can’t leave him. I am retired and able to take off from time to time to visit children. I have a daughter in Atlanta and I went to LA for a few days with my youngest son. I go to Colorado every 3 months to check up on my dad who is going to be 94 this month. My husband and I look forward to the time when my daughter wins the lotto and he can retire and we will be able to actually use the passports we got this summer. How awesome it would be to be able to have a second “home” to go to, whether the mountains or the beach. Just some place to get away from this Las Vegas heat for a few days. We have to keep all the doors and windows closed and if you go outside it is like sticking your head in an oven. We are very closed in unless we can get away. Now, I’m off to the dentist - arghhhh

This goes way back but do any of you remember the “Alexander’s Very Bad Terrible Day” books? I could walk upstairs and get the exact title, but … Those books were great for any age!

Dona, I was in the hospital in 2004 and had an aid that came in to do my vitals and empty my “things”. He proceeded to do the emptying, was not wearing gloves and then came over to do my vitals. He had not washed his hands upon entering my room or following emptying things. I said I did not want him doing my vitals and told him why and I reported him. It so happens I did contact staph during that stay and was in there an extra week. Scary! We also have disinfecting wipes in our grocery stores here which is good.

Dona - it is me. I think I was around 3 or 4 at the time. Way back when……… And I always had to wear the nice little white gloves and the hats to match my Sunday best outfits. Arghhhh! Thank goodness - times have changed!!

OMG - how sad is that. Well, hopefully people like Star won’t cause another 4 years like the 8 we’ve had and more of our beloved America lost. I feel confident there will be enough intelligent Americans who are able to understand the issues to save us from a repeat of the Bush years.
