It seems that everyone on “Main Street” is holding their breath to see how this will effect us. The government bailout doesn’t seem to be working, possibly because the government, in fact, has lost its credibility.

Can you imagine what it is like to be a lesbian and read that who you are is considered the biggest “stigma”? I forget sometimes that my life, that I try to live with integrity and honor, with my long-term partner and love of my life, is considered a “stigma” by the biggest percentage in this poll. I don’t know whether to scream or cry. At the same time I am heartened by the growing voices of support out there. For those thoughtful responses, of which there are many, I am grateful.

SP may be a “quick study” but she isn’t quite quick enough. She seems scared to death, to me, like the person thrown into the deep end of the pool who doesn’t know how to swim. It’s hard to fake it when you’re just trying to survive.

I tape it so I can breeze through the commercials later. When I do watch it, I look for a genuine moment, a genuine emotion, and for someone who actually gets it about how unreal the “show” really is.

After I turned 50, I developed a “what the hell” attitude. I was tired of playing it safe and caring so much about what people think. Besides, everyone is so involved in their own lives, they could care less about what’s going on in mine.

“I can see Russia from my house!” I thought the skit was brilliant.
