My Comments (500 so far…)
The Palin Book, as Dear Margo Sees It
Words of hate coming from someone’s mouth and directed to a highly respected and well known lady, in my estimation, truly shows lack of grace and social etiquette in a woman. Sure, your friends tell you what a great job you did and applaud the fact that you "told off" the person who wrote so-called unbecoming things about someone you and your friends like and support. But, this is a free country. Margo Howard has the right to write about anyone she chooses and to state comments about the dark side of the subject is her right. Other contributors on this site write unbecoming things about President Obama all the time but I have never seen anyone do an outright hatchet job on the author of these articles.
Relative to college degrees, I’ve never seen a requirement that a writer on this site needs a college/university degree from any accredited college/university. In fact, in the 1960’s and the 1970’s very few men or women had college degrees and, by far the majority of those same people, without college degrees, made names for themselves in the business world and, there were many of these non-degreed persons in the media and journalism world. I think the proof is in the batter for those who would bash and nash Ms. Howard. If she would put her bank account up against the bashers and the nashers who have just spewed unbecoming words bashing her and her credentials, I wonder whose bank account would be biggest. I would feel quite comfortable betting my last dollar on Ms. Howard as the the person who would win this contest!! Ms. Howard, I apologize on behalf of educated women all over America who know that a piece of paper from a college/university means nothing when it comes to true grit and ability in the journalism field.

I love the fact that she is in the limelight. The more she’s in th limelight and, the more people who read her book, the more people she’ll convince that she’s very far away from being a viable candidate. Of course, maybe she should run for president in 2012 so her supporters will understand what others saw long ago….including her former running mate McCain (who knows he made a mistake in picking her for his running mate.)
I’ve read the reviews and select passages. Wow, she was vindictive! And said some really silly things which are laughable and some could have only come from someone unconnected with reality. From what I’ve read, if she thinks that her book about "Nothing" will convince many women to vote for her, then she better write a second one….faster than this one was written. If she wants to convince people that Wasilla Alaska is better because it has moose stew with biscuits and gravy, then she might do better if she would ask Paul Dean to help her learn how to cook moose, southern style….or maybe even appear on Paula Dean’s "Create" segment. Her second book might sell more copies if she wrote a cookbook or a "How To shoot Wolves" book.
If she wanted to run for president, she shouldn’t have written this book! I doubt that she could pass vetting after this.

Perhaps you should check the fact that CIT got 2.3 million from the government….that was what I was addressing….and they couldn’t even manage on that!!
Our farm manure was "gold" because we used it on the fields. And when a farmer runs a 1000 herd at all times, the manure gets deep in a very short time. The manure which was left from the previous administration wasn’t fit for anything….and it built up in just 8 years to a very deep level.

No, the democrat posters haven’t given up on Obama. Those posters are smart and are sitting in their fine homes, warm and comfortable in this fall season. They are reading their newspapers, and listening to the media of their choice every day instead of reading the many false statements on the internet…. and, they are not watching Fox or listening to Rush. These same democratic posters are making informed decisions of their own.
Some have had health issues while not covered by health insurace so they know that health care benefits are important. They know we need to move on from the point where loss of a job means loss of healthcare benefits. Some are old and some are young, so the mix is not one sided. Most have excellent educations so these same posters can’t be accused of being dumb or stupid. They know how to evaluate all points in a conversation or in a meeting or while making decisions, rather than being a copy-cat…which it seems that some non-democraic persons do (which for some of the non-democratic persons this seems to include listening to only what they want to hear and then making decision which don’t seem to be in the best interests of the majority of persons in America.)
Most of these democratic posters are worried about the economy and rightfully so….they should be worried. Many dollars were given to companies which pay enormous salaries to executives who have made horrible decisions and even after the government gave these types of companies an enormous infusion of cash, the executives, who were making the horrible decisions, still got their salaries. Some of these same companies had to go bankrupt. An example of this was CIT. I’m sure lots of posters here are very familiar with this company and the fact of their bankruptcy. Companies like this will be dealt with, but as is normal, many years of manure can’t be cleaned out of the henhouse in a few months. Heavy manure always takes a while. I know, because I was my dad’s official manure scooper on our farm and it takes a long time…sometimes several month to clean up years of manure. The fact I was a pooper scooper sure didn’t stop me from getting an educaton to allow me to make informed decisions.

Phyllis…..I was just thinking that perhaps I need my glasses changed. I didn’t read the same numbers related to Obama’s disapproval numbers as stated in this thread. The 10-21-09 approval rating numbers I read indicate the overall numbers went up to 57% of those who still continue to support his general positions. Sure there may be segments within the numbers which are lower, but the overall is what counts. I think some might be pulling out the lower numbers without documenting this is one section of what makes up the total approval poll numbers.
Relative to the economy and the lack of improvement… I sure know that when my bank account goes down, it takes me quite a while to build up the numbers. If some people have ideas that will make the economy magically get better in a short period of time I hope they tell the administration their thoughts…and, I wonder if the same people have magic ways of fixing/building up my bank account in a matter of a few short months.
I loved that Obama’s appearance on David Letterman drew the largest audience in 4 years. As President Obama eluded to, you can’t please everyone on all things all the time. Just like a marriage….ups and downs every step of the way.
A couple of days ago while watching the television, the newscaster indicated only 20% of republicans still claim to be republicans which is a 26 year low according to some other web sites commenting on this 20% figure. That is just astounding. From reading the posts, I thought the number would be more like 50 or 60% would claim to be republicans.
Thanks for doing such great posts.
What's your No. 1 tip when asking for a promotion or a raise at work?
Above all, be a professional when asking…you have to work up to it. Prior to asking, get to be known as a person of expertise. Excell at everything.
Always do your tasks with ease and efficiency. Don’t always take the road with the least amount of resistance, but be firm in your convictions. Once this professionalism is accomplished you will be ready to ask for a raise or a promotion like a professional.
The answer may be no, but the boss might be impressed with your ability to overcome the typical fear of asking. And before long you might not have to ask…it will just come for you.
If you had to choose a theme song for your life, which would it be?

A Stupid Human Trick, by Margo Howard
Only one has the right to judge Letterman. That’s God. If Letterman did anything wrong, it won’t go unpunished.
People who call him a deviate, a harrasser, a civil rights violator, scum, one who exercised his "power", or any other name posters used, this is wrong. It’s none of your business. I haven’t seen his current wife post a tirade of accusations anywhere with the media like some posters have done here nor has she called him names in the media. And, he’s still working, so his employer must not think he did anything to violate laws. Taking the liberty of judgement, when you don’t have the right to make the judgement, is certainly telling.
These same posters re-phrased Margo’s words and made them into something they were not. Accusations against Margo were made in some posts. What in the world is wrong with people nowdays??
You can’t depend on your judgement when your imagination is out of focus.

Wannamaker's, Oldsmobile, Polaroid and PanAm … What defunct brands do you now miss?
Oldsmobile….we have a 1970 442 oldsmobile which we bought in 1982. It’s now worth thousands. I loved the oldsmobile cars and I loved my Pontiac Bonneville. I thought Eastern Airlines used to have the best coach class food.
