My Comments (500 so far…)
Liz Smith: Texas Today – Gone With the Wing-Nuts
The prayer gods listening to Senator Wilson know who is lying. And, it isn’t Obama. If I may quote HR 3200, Section 246. This is quite specific about no payments for undocumented Aliens even though the popular rag, Red Orbit says otherwise…..kinda like the tabloids saying a 200 year old woman had a baby out of wedlock. Makes you wonder what planet some people are from….could be they are aliens….from another planet.
House bill 3200 may not be the most perfect thing and may not be the bill passed, but it doesn’t intend to cover illegal aliens. (unless they are those different planet aliens who apparently believe those different planet aliens who infiltrated our congressional body)
"H.R. 3200: Sec 246 — NO FEDERAL PAYMENT FOR UNDOCUMENTED ALIENS Nothing in this subtitle shall allow Federal payments for affordability credits on behalf of individuals who are not lawfully present in the United States."

Brainstorm Your Own Health-Care Reform Plan
The last time I expressed my opinion on health care reform, I stated my beliefs and afterwards I was sent hate emails, accused of ranting, was kicked off a blog and ostracized from a group of so-called friends. I have many years of executive/officer health insurance experience (30+ years) and from one of these same "friends", I was accused of things because of this experience. Obviously I had no rights to an opinion and their opinions were the only way to go. Be them right or wrong, there was no room for belief that their ideas might not be right for the majority of Americans.
Prior to saying anything else, I would like to say something to some people who are bashing the insurance industry……the insurance companies are being maligned, trashed and blamed for this mess, but what would each of you have done through the years to pay your medical bills if you had not been covered by an insurance company plan? Also, to be fair, write down any medical bills the insurance companies have paid for you or your family and do a quick estimation of the dollars you spent for health insurance premiums through the years and see if the bills the insurance company paid are higher than what you paid for health insurance. If you had one major surgery, I can almost guaranteed the health insurance company paid more. Think about this the next time you might feel the urge to bad-mouth the insurance companies. No, I don’t work in the insurance industry anymore…I’m just trying to be fair about the whole situation. And, one last thing about the health insurance industry…..many people who are not covered for health insurance had the opportunity to become covered for health insurance but THEY CHOSE NOT TO BE COVERED…..probably because of the cost health insurance…..but the general public is blaming the health insurance company because of the cost…..insurance is spreading the cost over a large group of persons. To pay your bills costs money…..it cost the insurance companies and it will cost the government if they take over. Do persons want a public option auto and homeowners insurance too??? Will that be next?
In my wildest dreams I too would want all of this health care reform to be free of charge. Keep in mind that the public health program will most likely cost each of you dearly. And, it may be that many of you will have less health insurance than you currently have under your employer health care plan.
My personal thoughts and desires would be a health care plan which would cover all persons and be free, but we all know that would be impossible. The public option is not necessarily right for all Americans, nor is it the choice of all Americans because it definitely will be expensive and paid through taxes. And I get the feeling that those on Medicare will remain on Medicare and not necessarily be on a super duper public option plan. But, it appears that those who support the public option feel that this type of plan is the only type of plan which America should think about….but are these same people ready to pay the cost of such an expensive plan. It’s expected to cost over a trillion dollars in the next decade….. who do you think will bear a large portion of the bill……Mr. John Q. Public of course through taxation (either through your employer or you)
I have studied other nations’ plans. There are some which are good and have very few problems and others are riddled with problems even though most of these country’s citizens don’t want to admit it or maybe it’s because they aren’t aware of the horrible situations and faults of the national plans.
President Obama has a plate full of stuff he has to bring together. The recession, the war, education, stimulus, unemployment and healthcare yet there are people who think he should have already settled everything in just a few months. How crass is that! Americans are just not in a chance taking mood! President Obama definitely ran a platform to allow all Americans the right to Healthcare…..the result and the end product may not be what you want, but in order to get something in place, maybe baby-steps might be needed first. Get something available to everyone, then go from there. Perhaps it will take a two or three years to get a really super duper national healthcare plan in place….but for now, let’s assure that everyone has access to some kind of healthcare plan. President Obama is committed…..give him a chance and think of your fellow American who might not want what you want. Your desires might not be right for other people.
Rant over…..and I might lose some more friends….but as I say….I guess they weren’t friends after all. I always give my true friends an opportunity to say what they think.

Diminished Labor Unions Have a Friend in Obama, by Liz Peek
On Monday, my family will celebrate the real meaning of Labor Day. My husband and my son-in-law will walk the Labor Day parade, as proud Americans and as proud Laborers. Not everyone can claim that status. Not everyone wants to lay claim to the fact that they are mere Laborers in a work force of blue collar workers. But as a midwestern family we are not ashamed of that fact. It puts bread and butter on the table and provides us economic growth. We have money in the bank. We have a wonderful home and our family laborers have a job to go to each day because of organized labor.
We do have to rely on words of hate or political discord to buy our dinner. Our family does it through real labor, using their hands, head, street smarts and physical strength.
Yes, we have college educations in this family and could work other jobs. Yes, we have abilities not yet tested or used. And yes, we hope for a better tomorrow. Who wouldn’t want to wish that for America. And, we support the president because it is un-American to not support the president who is currently in office. And when the next president is elected we will support that President too as he attempts to make America a better place to live.
I feel very hurt that Labor Day and the Labor Unions which Labor Day is intended to celebrate, are not reflected in a positive and accurate way in this subject post nor in any other post on wowowow. It appears that the Labor Day topic has been used for political purposes. This Laborers Day of celebration is not to celebrate the ending of summer, the closing of the pool or to perfect day to eat hot dogs. Yet many people must actually think that and joke about it as if that were the true meaning.
Labor Day is the day for Laborers to participate in parades of the labor forces to show strength and espirit de corps of the trade and labor organizations.
The caste system is shining in America today. I thought it had been replaced with Class. There are those who are high up in the social hierarchy who make it seem that blue collar laborers are not the acceptable class nor are labor unions an acceptable thing in today’s life. I stand a proud American affiliated with big Labor and I will not eat hot dogs this weekend, I will eat expensive steaks.
Are you like your mother?
A bad heart like my mom, a jovial disposition like my mom, caring about others like my mom, a short chunky stature like my mom.
But she became a heavenly angel when she was age 49 and I was a young child. I haven’t yet become like her in that respect but I will one of these days. Sometimes I can’t remember exactly what she looked like, but I remember her smell and I like to use fragrance too.
Happy Birthday, Lily!
Where is the best public bathroom you know? What makes it so?
I remember having some surgery and being in a hospital room where a bidet was installed. That was quite an experience….and it felt pretty nice too and it was super clean….at least I hope it was.
Not long ago Tyra Banks had a panel of doctors on her show. Guests could ask the doctors questions of any kind. In responding to one question about kidneys/urine, one of the doctors said: "you don’t have to worry about getting bacteria from urine on the seat of a public toilet, because urine is sterile." I about lost my cookies.
Does money buy happiness? How much does it cost?
I’ve read that some economists now think that money does buy happiness. There’s evidence of this supposedly.
I love to spend money on other people at Christmas. I know that when I have money at Christmas to spend on others, I am happy and when I don’t have any money to spend on others, I am unhappy.

Sen. Edward Kennedy Dies at Age of 77
A man of triumphs and tragedies, but one who was admired by many, and, even by his foes. His health care goal was to reduce health care costs, assure quality care and provide affordable health care choices, no matter what the end product health care product was. This same goal is something all Americans should hope for and reach for.
His Senate service should be appreciated with grace, his accomplishments honored and noted with flair and, now, at the time of his death, be allowed to be remembered with his dignity intact. Rest in Peace Edward "Teddy" Moore Kennedy.

I love Whitney…I could never see what she saw in that husband!
My words of wisdom….You can’t predict what Americans do or whom they like. Just because someone makes a statement or a prediction doesn’t make it the gospel.
Have you changed your opinion of Sonia Sotomayor since the start of her confirmation hearings?
Good to see you James.
I think a republican in the chair would be evasive…..the type of questions they are asking her are ones concerning personal thoughts on a subject in an attempt to catch her and hang her. Don’t beat a horse to death.
She’s a brilliant woman and she’ll be approved….get it over with.
