The Face of Invisible Illness
I too am sick of these same old words….it gets tiring hearing that I don’t look sick. My secret has always been….put on a happy face….smile to the world…..life will be easier.
Peace and goodwill to you and may you always have the strength to smile to the outside and inner peace to cope with life.
Comments of the Weeks 6/1 - 6/12
The enormity of the past or present burdens some of the posters carry/have carried is astounding!
Measurement of the strength of a woman remains a mystery.
There are thousands of places to travel to before you die. What are your top three?
Many people don’t realize that the United States is actually the Land of Opportunity when deciding "where to go". Many persons want to travel to the Orient, or to Sweden, or to some other place on another continent, but have you visited a lot of places in the United States?
It’s fun to take visual tours of places in the United States to see the wonderments of our country. Chances are you will find some really interesting places to visit which you never knew were here.
I’m still waiting to go to Hawaii…. I really want to hula dance on Hawaiian sand, while I’m drinking a Mai Tai.
The wowOwow Summer Reading List
I always like to have book recommendations. Somehow recommendations make it seem the book is really worth buying and burying my nose in for hours.
But sometimes I find that books I read decades ago are just as exciting. I recently picked up a copy of Great Expectations by Charles Dickens….and before I knew it, I had finished it.

Michigan Gov. Jennifer Granholm on GM Bankruptcy: 'We're Hitting Bottom'
I can’t remember ever owning a foreign car but I’m not opposed to it.
I think GM made some crucial errors in judgement when certain cars were axed in the last years. The Pontiac Grand Am, the Pontiac Bonneville, and the Pontiac Grand Prix were popular cars. I used to notice how many of these cars were actually on the road, but understandably they were popular because most got around 30 miles to a gallon of gas, were cheap to repair compared to some models, and could be bought for a reasonable cost. The Pontiac Grand Am was one of the most popular in the Pontiac line from the day they were first built until 2005 when they changed it to a more expensive G6…..then the sales plunged. Why change a good thing if sales numbers of the previous were good.
In the recent years, one by one came the announcement that all of these mid-sized Pontiac models were being totally axed from GM. Besides the Buick line, at that time, the pricey gas guzzler called Hummer was still on GM’s offering as was the $55,000 or higher Cadillac, which consumes your bank account when it breaks down. Who the heck can/could afford to buy a new Hummer or a new Cadillac? The gas the Hummer guzzles in a day would run a Pontiac Grand Am, Bonnevile, or Grand Prix for a week or two.
GM’s last announcement of completely eliminating Pontiac and keeping Buick and Cadillac was a shocker. Don’t they realize that the group of older folks who buy Buicks to travel the highways, are a dying group of people! I seriously doubt that the baby boomers are going to 1) have the money to buy a new Buick Park Avenue; and 2) will want to give up their dream of remaining young and driving young. This baby boomer here wants a spiffy looking car with good gas milage and a price to fit my beer pocketbook.
The Cadillac brand must have been kept to attract the richer persons of the world who have a champagne pocketbook to match their tastes. I personally doubt that Cadillac sales will make up for the loss of the mid sized car sales.
I remember reading that a Chevy Cavalier was the most popular car ever sold by GM. Why not concentrate on a marketing plan to build and sell a hundreds times what has been sold in the past? Basic transportation with a flair.
GM decisions just seem wrong in the last years. They need to make decisions that are right for the future, not decisions perceived to be right for the moment.
They needed a woman at the head spot!
Pro-Life Feminism Births a Great – and Inexhaustible – Debate
I read these posts and also those which were deleted. I have been deeply bothered by some of the responses. This whole subject isn’t political, so why do persons even go there? It’s certainly not up to us to determine if this was a terrorist act. I don’t care who is a right or left person, politics has no business entering into this discussion. It seems some are spoiling for a fight about politics, so every time the right and left people are on the same thread, the dukes are put up and the two sides square off….with intent to let the battle begin.
If an abortion is an alternative for you, then so be it. If you believe in pro-life, then so be that too. You have the right to believe in what you want. No one can or should take that right from you, nor should they make light of your decision nor should they degrade you for your decision. And for God’s sake, no one should kill someone over an abortion.
I believe deeply in the Lord and know that he would stand by me or anyone else and forgive me/anyone for any decision that I/we would make about wanting an abortion. I believe he would forgive me as he forgives humans of sins if one asks and if he doesn’t forgive me, then I will be punished for that. I personally feel he will judge and condemn someone for committing what me or you considers a sin or something punishable by law, but in his own time.
My body is mine. The law says I can have an abortion if I want. Doctors are authorized to perform abortions under the law. Some doctors perform back alley abortions not authorized by law.
If a doctor performs an abortion of any sort, God doesn’t say that he deserves to die at the hand of a pro-life believer. The law might say he is guilty of murder, but it isn’t up to me or any other poster or media person or any person on this earth to judge the doctor as a killer. If the doctor has committed a crime, the law and the judge and the jury ONLY have the right to judge him/her under the law. And if God sees the doctor’s actions as actions which are untolerable according to God’s law, then God will judge that doctor. People who know God know this. I seriously doubt that he would agree with the pro-life persons who think the killer of this doctor did a fine job when he murdered the doctor. I believe that God punishes in ways which will be suitable for the killer. If you choose to not believe as I, then so be it. Your beliefs are important too. Just be sensible when you post those.
wOw Reports: What News Matters to You – And Why?
I agree with another poster about having a Gardening section. I am an avid gardener and have been for years but I have lots of questions….like now I want to know how to make a pathway to another place in my huge yard starting at my rock garden…..I want it so we can mow over it with a huge garden tractor.
I guess I need to know if I can just use week killer to kill the grass and weeds on the pathway (about 3 feet wide) and then put whatever (no rock please)????? Mulch?? Potash?? I am stumped! Or can I used lime to kill the grass and weeds???
This is why I need somewhere to go and ask lots of people for lots of ideas. (I have two acres of yard) ~~~~>)
