Aside from your own, of course, who is your favorite 'Mother'?

Even though we have treated her with disrespect, Mother Nature still surrounds us with loving arms. She makes every attempt to keep on an even keel and treat each one of us kindly.

Cheney Warns Against 'Moderate' GOP

Dear GOP Party:

Listen to what Mr. Cheney says. He is a great politician and a great statesman who will not steer you wrong. We like when he gives advice.

Love,

A Democrat

Is Elizabeth Edwards making a mistake by staying with husband John? Where do you stand on post-affair reconciliation?

The hurt and pain of knowing he had an affair will never leave her mind and will never leave the sacredness of marriage either. And I am sure she loves him less than she did. She will most likely doubt him another time in the future, even if it’s not a case where his behavior should be in doubt.

Life can be full of indiscretions (sexual or otherwise) which a marriage partner is never aware. It isn’t right or fair, but life can be unfair. Sometimes there may be no justification for the partner to wander, but sometimes there are plenty of reasons. But, no one outside the marriage can or should judge what the other partner does….it’s no one’s business.

If you have ever suffered a serious medical condition, it is easier to understand why it can happen and why the seriously ill person is more foregiving. No one who suffers with any medical condition, wants to go through the rest of their life alone, with no one to offer comfort and comradery and companionship. Illness is hard enough to handle without having to make decisions which would leave you alone.

If the publishing of a book makes her feel better, then so be it. If no one reads it, then so be it. If it embarrasses her or her husband or the other woman, then so be it.

Dear Margo: Looking for Greener Grass

#1….Do you think Roger really loves you? I think it’s called "I like S-E-X with you"! Roger’s green pastures, where you want to roam, probably have several cows chomping that green grass shorter and shorter.

14 Years After Death, President Obama's Mother Gets Published

I have refrained from posting on this thread until now. I am saddened that people can degrade a person’s mother because they hate the son. Trash talk is very out of style and especially when it’s done in a hateful manner about someone’s mother, and, especially one who is dead and can’t come here to defend herself.

A mother should be a precious person to any person on this earth. A mother is the person who gave life. Each of you on this site, had a mother. Perhaps you don’t/didn’t cherish your mother but it stands to reason that you should. You sure wouldn’t be here if she didn’t give birth to you.

Maybe you were given away at birth and another mother stepped into the biological mother’s shoes, but your new mother became a mother to you. But, maybe you didn’t like her either.

What if I put in my post and directed it to each of you who degraded Mr. Obama’s mother……. " your mother was a hippie communist who is/was a dumb cluck for writing about a subject she liked and besides that she married a guy out of her race and her son is ashamed of her and she probably had smelly feet too"….. I bet you wouldn’t like it that I said that about your mother and would jump all over me for saying it. Well never fear I was brought up differently apparently. My mother was life’s gift to me. I wouldn’t degrade your mother or anyone’s mother.

Sure I do like Mr. Obama, but I’m not defending his mother because I like him. I’m defending his mother’s right to have her work published. There are many interesting and intelligent people, like Frannie Em, who will be interested and will learn a great deal of knowledge from this work, even though some of you said it wouldn’t be read by anyone because you thought she was a broad and a crazy radical hippie, her work is esoteric (every masters degree thesis is too), she was a person who did nothing, she liked communist countries better than America, and her mothering skills included teaching socialist knowledge and helped shape poor self-esteem in her child.

If I believed all of this unproven information about her, I guess I would have to assume she was a worthless woman who deserved to die and never have anything published and should never be a part of any race and definitely not good enough to be a woman. But this was all trash talk. She deserved to live. She deserved to make her own choices and live where she wanted. And she deserved to write about anything that interested her because there are smart capable people who will be/are interested and they will become better people for learning. We all need to learn a lot of things and some more than others.

Happy Mother’s Day to each of your mothers. They are wonderful women for giving you life. And even if they are not living, may their spirit continue to brighten other people’s lives in any way possible.

Romney Disses Palin Over Time Magazine's 'Influential' List; Palin Signs on to Abortion Measure (Video)

I would absolutely relish Palin running in 2012….that would be the democrats’ ultimate dream = a runaway democratic landslide. Bring her on!

Country Mouse or City Mouse? Tell us where you live

I live in the rural area of a very small village in the Land of Lincoln, just a few steps away from the village where Abe Lincoln spent his young years of his manhood. The capitol city is just a few miles to the south of my doorstep, with Peoria being just a few miles to my north.

We have two acres of rolling hills in a forest of trees. There are 6 deer which frequently bed down on the farthest back hillside on our property. One time my granddaughter spotted a flock of 14 wild turkeys pecking away in our backyard. Possums, raccoons, coyotes, squirrels, rabbits, fieldmice, skunks roam the countryside. And, we even have a small fox who is known for stealing meat from the grill apparently without getting burned! Nature living at its finest. Comfort of a home built among the creatures and critters.

It’s always good to get picked for comments of the week. It boosts your spirit and shows wow is watching and seeing comments that matter. Congrats.

Do you ever bet on horse races?

I love horses and love to watch them run. A local Off Track Betting Parlor is the place to be on race days. Sometimes I go just to watch them run.

I also love to drive through the beautiful country in Kentucky to see the huge horse farms. It is a delight to see the pristine white fences and well kept horse farms. We have done this several times on a weekend get-away.

Pork Dominates News: Spending and Flu Both Threaten, by Liz Peek

I was just in Peoria, the home of Caterpillar. There are enough Caterpillar machines setting on the lots to sell to any number of countries that want to show the cash. According to the local Peoria papers , they are still laying off at Caterpiller. I have scanned all of the local papers for the last 3 to 4 weeks and I didn’t see a statement by the CEO of Caterpiller addressing the all time high sales of excavators in China. I would be interested in seeing that RECENT article. I also checked the Capitol Blog which contains the best news around the state. I did see that China accounted for 5% of projected sales this year in a November 2008 article about China plans to build their infrastucture. That doesn’t do USA really much good…no jobs there for us. And this announcement came before the HUGE layoffs were announced May I see that article please so I can keep up to date on my local area?

This is what the article said about China sales and what it will do for the US growth (in between the waves):

~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
"The China’s spending isn’t likely to help Caterpillar counter declines in construction sales in North America and Europe, Rayle and Wertheimer said. The world’s largest maker of earthmoving equipment gets more than a third of revenue from construction machinery such as backhoes and excavators.
Even the massive China stimulus would add only about 4 percent to the fast-weakening $7 trillion global construction market,” Wertheimer wrote. “Most other countries don’t have the same capacity.” "
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~

P.S. I liked the first part of your article. It would have been nice if the article would have continued in the light informative manner.

Dear Margo: I Hear Ya Knockin', but You Can't Come In

You answer, you say I am not interested and please don’t ever come back and shut the door. End of discussion. Do not answer the next time. Who cares if they see you coming to the door. They usually have their pamphlets in their hands so you know who they are. If they don’t leave, call the police.

Biden's Office Clarifies Swine Flu Remarks

I bet people who travel on public transportation, who laugh at suggestions and ones who get swine flu or even a worse airbornes illness, won’t laugh a second time. I would worry about what the message is. I think it is very smart of companies to be safe rather than sorry. Precaution is a very safe word. Infection means you didn’t take precautions. You and your family make the choice ~~~~

Joe Biden on 'Today': I've Told My Family to Avoid Planes, Subways, Confined Spaces (Video)

Come on people. It is a well know fact that aircraft use recirculated air and that airborne illness has always been a threat. I would bet that the majority of people in the world know this as it’s not a new announcement. Other closed area public transportation would probably be similar. Perhaps Joe didn’t speak as the administration wanted him to do, or maybe the media asked him a question to get him to say this…I really don’t know nor care. Since it appears to be spreading rather rapidly, you do have a chance at getting swine flu. If you want to laugh and make fun at suggestions, go for it. It’s your health. There are plenty more airborne illnesses much worse than swine flu….it’s just that swine flu is in the air and on the airwaves right now.

If I were you, I would heed Joe’s warning and consider wearing a mask on public transportation until this dies down. I wear masks a lot to make sure I don’t get an illness which could be harmful to a weakened system. I made the mistake of being in a closed public area once without a mask for two days and got deathly sick. You get used to the masks…and you can buy them at the dollar store…cheap is better than nothing.

Here’s aircraft air safety info published a long time ago.

The Forever Marriage?

purposely leaving off the How on ever of course. LOL

The Forever Marriage?

I happen to agree with this. Marriages used to be forever and forever. Now they are for ever long they last.
