You say things so well that I rarely have anything to add except my thanks. But I also feel a responsibility. The guys are part of this too.
Opera Adds Olfactory to Aural Mix
Up my nose is not “the entirely new direction” I would encourage the “genre” to take. Snort!
Nor would I care to wear a cacophony of aromas. Imagine going to dine afterward smelling like “fire”…or eating next to someone who did.

What fantasy iPhone App would you go crazy for?
They do make quite a visual. Somewhere between models and mannequins.

An app to whitelist positioning information - to control who can know where you are through your cell phone.
My cell phone is a phone. It’s not a camera, or an answering machine, or a billboard, or a web browser, or an email client, or a game console, or a CD player or a TV. I do not want a lot of bells and whistles burning through the battery time. I don’t want extras burning through my minutes.
Your lights are on, but you’re not home
Your mind…is not your own
Your heart sweats, your body shakes
Another app…is what it takes
You can’t sleep, you can’t eat
There’s no doubt, you’re in deep
Your throat is tight, you can’t breathe
Another app…is all you need
Whoa, you like to think that you’re immune to the stuff, oh Yeah
It’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough, you Know you’re
Gonna have to face it, you’re addicted to tech.
You see the signs, but you can’t read
You’re runnin’ at…a different speed
You heart beats…in double time
Another app…and you’ll be mine, a one track mind.
You can’t be saved
Oblivion is all you crave
If there’s some left for you
You don’t mind if you do
Whoa, you like to think that you’re immune to the stuff, oh Yeah
It’s closer to the truth to say you can’t get enough, you Know you’re
Gonna have to face it, you’re addicted to tech.
With all due respect to Robert Palmer.
Obama's Notre Dame Commencement Speech: What Would Father Hesburgh Do?
Nice spot, Mahulda. You got her on the acorn=embryo analogy. Now let’s follow through on that analogy:
If acorn=embryo, then the embryo has the potential to become a human being. Once you strip away the emotionally charged terminology and focus on the process, it is easier to see that an embryo is not yet a human being - only an early stage in the process. Unless you want to claim that an acorn is a tree? “Ontogeny is that branch of life science which deals with the study of origin and development of an organism from fertilized ovum to its mature form.” You can find more complete information there.
An embryo, whether floating in the Fallopian tube or in-vitro, cannot develop into a fetus, and then a human being, until it adheres to the uterus and begins taking nourishment.
Until it does, it is still just a potential human being. A zygote or embryo that cannot make it to the fetus stage without additional help.
You have every right to your own position, your own opinion, your own beliefs. Nobody contests that, nor are you required to debate it. Just keep in mind that your personal opinions and beliefs carry no weight or authority beyond yourself. Without debate, you cannot persuade anyone to share your position. In a democracy, nothing gets resolved without debate.
If Lemon Tea seems defensive to you, it is because she is defending existing individual rights that are under attack, primarily by Christian extremists. Good for her. It is a frustrating but necessary effort.

If a pregnancy threatens the life of the woman, would an abortion be self-defense?
If a woman has a miscarriage, would it be negligent homicide or involuntary manslaughter?

Liz Smith: Men! Esquire Explains Them, Sort Of
I was looking for Liz Smith’s evaluation of how Esquire explains men. Anyone know where that article went?

I found his jokes to be pleasantly bipartisan.
I never paid much attention to the teleprompter head-swivel until someone pointed it out. I have to admit that it does look like he is watching a tennis match. If he can learn to read them without looking straight at them, it would look more natural. Nuts. Now I’m going to be checking everyone who uses a teleprompter.
I also liked the return-from-Mexico joke…

I mean that blind prejudice is such a waste of time and energy and many other things. It thwarts cooperation. It undermines the recovery. It inspires fear, grows hate. It damages society.
They could have chosen to be part of the solution. They could have chosen to be part of the loyal opposition. They choose to be sand in the grease.
