How worried are you about swine flu?

As long as everyone is doing what is needed of them, whether the public or private sector, then this pandemic should not be any worse than any of the previous. What is vital, however, is to raise the public’s level of awareness about the matter. I do want to take an example, when the first outbreak of bird flu broke out in 2002/2003, and while I was in Montreal, I remember some people beginning to behave negatively against the Chinese community, and actually began refraining from visiting China town for example, because of some data about the disease being brought into Canada through the Chinese community that travelled to and from China. That was a time when I found easily we as communities forget, at times, what being more sensitive towards others means. Everyone is in a pandemic together, and there was no intention by the Chinese to carry any disease let alone harm themselves.

In this recession, do you think there's more or less emphasis this year on going green?

This issue is a dynamic that has evolved internationally and developed accordingly, therefore studying the worthwhile referencescan be considered as approapriate terms of references, in order to replicate the success stories in this regard.

How do you define success?

Success is always about the issue at hand, moreso than the person. The audience that applaudes an issue is the mark required to define a moment in civilizations progress.

As we fight through difficult times, what might be the blessings of adversity?

There is not one life that is not challenged at one moment or another, the difference between each and every one is whether or not we as human beings are capable of rising to the occasion. Some of us do, and what becomes even more interesting than the adversity is being punished if we do, because by doing so, we only make the counterparts even worse looking. In short, rising to the occasion leaves us with more challenges that we hav in the first place, because very few are capable of doing so. Punished for carrying burdens with grace is a considerable sin.

What is the first thing you do in the morning on a day off from work?

When in a relationship it differs than when single. In any case both scenarios must begin with a smile on my face welcoming the morning, and then the rest follows…

Do you attend organized religious or spiritual services?

I find any form of organized religious meetings as usually serving one purpose or another, and seldom used for the reasons one expects. ORganized meetings mean indoctrination, which is why I was never good at anything of the sort. No offense

What would you do with a year's paid leave?

Take a Cordon Blue cooking course and travel the world as well.

Cynthia McFadden on the Changing Economic Times

I never turn to anything as long as my heart is safe with those that keep it so, Other than that is a passing breeze.

Are you more worried about the economy given the violent protests in London this week?

This question is always valid, and is always relevant. What is even more relevant is that one does not need to look far or farther than the politicians for answers, both good and bad.

Which designer's fashions do you feel best understand the needs of real women?

Fashion designers are successful when they portray how much women are a mystery, the fact that a woman could wear a Dior one minute then suddenly feel completely in her own skin in a Kenzo piece, then turn to find that the dress she had been created for and vice versa was a piece by a designer that has not even had a show yet, is what the industry is all about. A woman is a work in progress and that is what makes the designers artists by constantly evolving with her…

How do you feel about the olive branch Obama extended to Iran via videotaped message?

Hasn’t the U.S. always been holding the Olive branch, theoretically? Just a thought…

What is the best present you have ever received?

The true heart of the most wisest from all over the world. No more no less.

Do you believe in fate?

The only fate I believe in is that which is not pre-determined and not that which is manipulated by others to insinuate that it is fate.

Liz Smith: New York Haute and Irish Blarney for Designer Valentino (Video)

The sign of the times is when art, in all its forms from fashion to music, to painting, etc…, gives us the food for thought, as well as the answers at times, for the political issues on the ground. Democracy is manifested through its freedom of artistic channels, because the political machinery is mostly excluded from its domains, or if accepted must be refined to its (the levels of artistic ivory towers), in order to be accepted. I know I’m right when approved of by artists that have the depth and knowledge required to be called a neutral human being. Artists are our beacon, most of the times. In other words, even if I don’t have the good fortune to be among them, they continue to be a much more refined ambience than a purely political one. The challemge is do we remain among politicains in order to clean up, or…?

Dear Margo: No One Would Call This 'Romantic'

Does this mentality actually still exist. O.k switch it around and what about her list, just to be as silly and indicate that this type of psychology is demeaning , not to mention that no matter where we go, what we reach, not to mention the achievements women accomplish, it somehow rediculously boils down to "his popping the question!" Are we women allowing for this mentality to be present, or is it a way for (SOME)men to ascertain their machoism? As I write this I realized that my psychology is " could I please cease to exist this very moment if tis is the only type of mentality available, pretty please, very obeddient please, in every anguage and every dictionary on the planet?" Just a hint!
