I’m with midwesterngal. I need your email gal. I removed WOW a couple of weeks ago from my rss feed just for this reason. I guess I’m not able to be as generous as some on this line but I find the talk that I was hoping would be relevant to be just fluff for the most part. While I enjoy Edith Ann, Liz, Candace and sometimes Marlo, for the most part it is just another example of why there is so much waste in the world today. And it just haunts me that those who have so much need to talk about it as though everyone lives this way. I’m betting 7/8ths of the world or less has interest in yachts and how big they are becoming.

After reading Mary Wells answer I now understand her columns. No wonder I can’t relate to what she writes

What’s pandora?

Dear God I hope not.

Has anyone else noticed that it seems that it is the media telling us that the sort of news we get is what we are asking for. No one has ever asked me what sort of news I would like to hear. CNN used to be fairly good at news, that is when it first began. Now we get Entertainment Tonight, Glenn Beck and Lou Dobbs. Don’t even get me started with Fox news. I don’t believe that the middle class wants to listen to this garbage. I think that if the media would pull away from reporting the junk of the world to us it might begin to change the way people think about news. Never in history has there been the wealth of information available to the world of people that is available now. Why are we inundated with so much that is unimportant to our well being and hear so little about what is important? Who cares what Obama’s preacher says? Not me. I care about what Obama says about how he would run this country. He has never said anything to my knowledge that echoes what the preacher of his church thinks. Do we not give credit to a man/woman for independent thinking? The media doesn’t….they have beat this horse to death and keep on doing it. If they wouldn’t hound people to death about these gossipy items, we wouldn’t have any interest in them and perhaps then we could get back to what is really important to our world.

hmmm, I used to take much in my life for granted….that the happiness finally achieved after alcoholism, money struggles, my own obesssive, demanding nature getting in my way, raising 3 great kids, having a loving, patient husband, would always be there. Then our youngest was arrested for molesting his daughter, our first grandchild. My world will never be the same. This went on for a five year period, it wasn’t a one time thing. Now he is in prison on three 20 to life terms, her life is forever changed, his wife is having to cope with a job after being a stay at home Mom, the other two children are without a father they love and don’t understand why he disappeared suddenly, my husband and I, his brother and sister are devastated. Everyone is asking, what happened? Don’t take anything for granted, it can all change in an instant and everyone around you will be affected.

Why does sleeping in separate bedrooms have to mean you might not love each other? We have been sleeping in separate bedrooms for 10 years and love each other more than ever. We have been married 47 years, still snuggle before bed and then go our separate ways so we can sleep. Not a big deal at all.

Mydaughter was married 19 years ago and Imade her dress. It had a high lace neck, long sleeves with a point over the back of the hand. The bottom was full but didn’t require a hoop and it was tucked up every so often to reveal an underskirt. I embroidered a sweet smiling cat face in one of the tucked up parts and only she and I knew it was there. A wedding dress never to be forgotten.

An assumption that everyone celebrates Easter. hmmmmm……how about what are you doing on Sunday? reading the paper, going for a walk, packing for a trip to explore the Oregon/Washington coast for a couple of weeks if we can afford the gas.

Gosh….when my husband and I are retired and paying almost $3.50 for a gallon of gas, $4.00 for a loaf of bread and are watching a meager IRA account dwindle by the day it is still have for me to feel sorry for most of the people at either of these companies.

Oh please. I feel for any secretary, mailroom person or some of the lower echelon folks. I don’t feel for anyone who was making big bucks . Perhaps some of these people will learn that ‘money isn’t everything’. Why don’t you guys talk to some people who live in the real world? Try living in retirement on less than $50,000 and watching your IRA account dwindle by $1000 every week. That is scary and perhaps deserves a broken heart feeling. But there are people even less fortunate than I am and those are the ones my heart breaks for, not some high up muckity muck at a financial institution.

Thinking about my grandaughter who was molested by my son. Thinking about my son who is in prison for at least 40 years. It’s a wonder I even sleep.

My concern would be with the Spitzer’s children. What a message to send to teenage girls. No matter how enlightened their mother may be there is no getting around the fact that this could have a profound affect and effect on them and their adult years. The damage to them may not be known for many years. There are many other things in this world to be concerned about right now and whether or not Ms. Spitzer should stand by Mr. Spitzer is way at the bottom of my list.
