My Comments (81 so far…)

Should federal bailout money be given to individual states when they are responsible for their own shortfalls?

Yes…I believe that because of the unprecented downturn in the econmy and th health of the nation, states should receive bailout money. Services to the elderly, blind, infirmed and education are always the first items to be cut in a budget crisis. It’s time that we all wised up, this about all of us and not just liberals versus conservatives. Children, American children go to bed hungry every night and far too many of them live in cars or on the street. It’s a national disgrace!

Liz Smith: Women's Bodies, From Jessica Simpson and Miley Cyrus to the Octuplets

This comment is no reflection on anyone except the woman who now has fourteen children. How could anyone promote a book or a televsion show about an individual who is so clearly disfunctional? Instant wealth and fame for being disfunctional seems to be an American industry. It’s time that someone begins to exercise common sense and stop giving these people fame and riches. There are clearly talented, hardworking people who never even get close to fame and money. During the economically depressed times, it is clear that we need inspiration and not fluff.

Joan Juliet Buck and the Shame of Bush

Couldn’t agree more. I could only hope that he could experience some of the things that he has caused others to experience: fear, loss of a loved one, loss of a job, shame, abandonment….alas the list is endless.

Limbaugh Attacks Pelosi Over Contraceptive Stimulus

Hmmm…all bills sent to Congress over the last one hindred years have had others issues attached to them. It’s ridiculous for the extreme right to apply pressure to any part of the rest of country because their extremism has corrupted and divided Americans for far too long. Bush and Co. co-opted and corrupted the normal channels for American women to receive contraceptions. He gutted programs all in the hope of instituting “abstinence” throughout the country. For generations young people have taken pledges and fr generations abstinence hasn’t worked. I wish the democrats/liberals would stop running scared from the Shock Jocks and the no-thinking Republicans who have no desire to work to help all Americans but only support an agenda to have things done their way, on their terms whether right or wrong.

If Jessica Simpson Looks Fat ... Then We're in Trouble (Photo)

I remember the days BEFORE Twiggy. Marilyn Monroe and Liz Taylor were girls with curves and no one thought to call them the dreaded “f” word. This whole skinny, thin thing has gone too far. It’s still true that if you buy cheap clothes you ear larger sizes. The ideal should be based on the individual and what they and their significant other(s) consider attractive.

Lesley Stahl Asks Rachel Maddow: What Do You Do at 7 on Sundays?

Thanks wowOwow! I have been offended that most of your coverage is limited to almost three hundred words, sometimes less. I hads hoped that this wasn;t a reflection of women not wanting to read more cognet and informative content at a single sitting. I do wonder thought, when will mainstream America stop asking people ” when did you know that you were gay?” I mean, how often has a straight person ever been asked “exactly when did you know that you were heterosexual?” The question itself is almost salacious and hardly deserves comment in any setting. I bet no one has ever asked Whoopi Goldberg “exactly when did you know that you were African American?” I think Rachel has an insightful and curious mind and she thinks, “THINKS,” a rare quality that seems to an anomaly in news commentators and pundits alike. Keep up the good work Rachel! As loud and vituoerative the voices from the right have been over these last many years, it is definitely time for a more balanced view.

'Drunken Negro Head' Cookies Take Bite at Barack Obama (Video)

I’m not racist because my brother-in-law is Cuban? I also made Dead Geese Bread, and no one objected?” Hmmm…the man obviously needs to stay in the kitchen and leave all his social discourse for discussion while he sits atop his throne, his attempt at saving the world!

Palin's Pricey Clothes Sitting Pretty at GOP HQ

Tanja Pineda…I understand that you are a college student and apparently you don’t have time to keep up with the news? Unless of course your news source is Fox News? President George W. Bush signed more Executive Orders during his presidency than all combined former presidents! As I live and breathe educatrion in all areas of this country are truly failing.

Torture Holding up Holder Confirmation

I guess that I shouldn’t be surprised by some of the venom flying off of these responses. The point is, we are supposed to be a nation with its foundation firmly rooted in laws. How can we operate, with conscience, here and baroad, unless everyone who has broken the law is held accountable? Why would anyone want to protect someone who flagrantly broke the laws of our country and treaties that we signed with other nations? Torture has been defined as torture, specifically waterboarding for decades. It was even used during the Inquisition and because it has been used for centuries it doesn’t make it leagl or palatable. We have to examine who we are as a people. If we don’t, if we allow ourselves to look aside when one of our own breaks the law, then we are suspect and without moral fortitude or honesty. It;s too bad that some people see the issue of torture and law-breaking as simply a difference between Republicans and Democrats. Trust, when those who hate our way of life and our policies think about harming us, they won’t take into account if we are a liberal or a conservative. The only thing that matters to them is that we’re American. It’s too bad that we can’t see how our divisivness aids terrorists. We aren’t any safer after eight years of neo-conservatism that not only has almost bankrupted this country but has caused our image to change from being one of the “good guys” to being just a common thug on the block.
