Even though today is a truly historic day, it cannot be said that beacause an African American man took the oath of office to become president of the United States that MLK’s dream has been realized. There is much work that has to be done, by all of us; black, white, brown and yellow, before MLK’s dream can truly be realized. If it were not so, we would not still have people judged by the color of their skin rather than the content of their character. So, as it is painfully clear that we have not achieved that landmark to date in America, Dr. King’s dream became a few steps closer today but we have niles to go before we rest.

Pelosi is skirting this issuer. This is the same woman who when she took her oath of office stated that, we the democrats “have no interest in seeking impeachment and /or prosecution for crimes of this administration.” We now know, that crimes were committed. And if we treat those crimes differently because we are arfraid of a political quagmire, perhaps we just as well let Madoff continue to live in his penthouse and forget about the $50 B that he somehow scammed. YYou can pick and choose whose should be prosecuted for crimes. I thought that we had something in place “Justice” to ensure edqual treatment for all if and when our laws are broken. I don’t recall seeing in the constitution that we would not worry about past illegal indiscretions because of possible politcal blowback? Congress had no problem impeaching Bill Clinton for lying about “having sex with that woman.” We clearly have constitutional violations that freely and wantonly occurred in this adminsitration and yet we can honestly find ways to turn our backs on these crimes and move forward? It’s like living with an elephant in your living room that consumes immense amounts of peanuts daily and you somehow manage not to see it or the mess it makes everyday. Unbelieveable!

Come on girls, “smart and conservative” used in the same sentence to describe Ann Coulter? Please. And if the Queen of dish can’t take the kind of crap she dishes to liberals or anyone else she decides aren’t worth respect, then she needs to get out of media and go home a knit.

From a medical viewpoint, have any of you read Dr. Gupta’s articles? Unless you are familiar with current medical trends and/or arre interested in what is occurring in medicine, to simply suppport someone in a very pub lic office because they are “young, good-looking and a player in the media” are poor reasons for someone to be appointed to a major government position. I prefer knowledge and credibility over good-looks and media savvy. Come on ladies, step up to the plate and look at what surface charm has produced in our society. It’s time for women to be swayed by more than just a pretty face or youth, male or female.

First of all, the Bush administration will not send any troops or words of condemnation against Israel’s latest attacks in the Gaza Strip. The Israelis will continue their assault because they can as they have done in the past. Our government relationship with Israel has always been one of total support, regardless of what rules or laws have been violated. So, no, there will be no censure from the United DStates. We have quite a problem to even have the MSM media to write about the issue, honestly, for fear of being labeled anti-Semitic. Oh…one final thought: if our government were to censure Israel, then our own recent war crimes (think about the illegal invasion of Iraq and the tens of thousands of innocent women and children that have been killed over the last five years there) would then in turn have to be truthfull;y examined and prosecuted. And based on the current conditions politically in this country, because no one in DC appears to have clean hands, just ain’t going to happen!

That is to say, no one is allowed to scream “Fire” in a crowded venue that creates panic. It is clear that La Coulter is a breed apart and she like her far-right hate mongering contingent haven’t done anything to keep “hate-speak” in a abeyance for the last eight years. She’s a best seller all right but it’s only because of the concerted effort of the Republican machine to purchase boxes of her hate-filled venom and give those books away to libraries and conservative think tanks. This era of hate mongering will one day in the future, OMG I sound like GWB, will one day be exposed for the harm that it has caused this country. Spreading deliberate misinformation is not one of the precepts of journalism and Coulter is just a hater, pure and simple. Note: The Second Amendment is the “Right to Bear Arms” not freedome of speech and religion, a concept that many have chosen to forget.

There are no words to try and define what people, whether they be journalists, commentators or just plain old folks say about the current state of journalism in America today. The point is, the MSM hasn’t been doing its job for a very long time and “spin” in journalism has existed for a long, long time and the conservatives found a way to use it better than the so-called “liberal press.” It would be so refreshing to have Americans to lay aside their political identities, i.e., conservative versus liberal, and agree to the fact that we have a lot of problems in this great dmeocract of ours and if we don’t pull together, we will all loose this ball game. Anderson Cooper doesn’t have to like or respect Rachel Maddow. At least the last time I checked, this is still the United States of America and we still have the ability to practice “free speech.”

Unfortunately, I like thousands of other Americans will remember 2008 as the year that we lost a child. It doesn’t matter how a child dies or what age that child was at their passing, the loss is unimaginable and almost imposible to bear.

Personally, I’d right all of the wrongs that have been perpetuated against the American public for the last eight years. There’d been no more homeless Americans, not that his phenomennon became vogue with this administration, there would be children going to bed hungry and alone at night, every American would have a job that paid a living wage, all would have health-care coverage, and wars would no longer ravish our young and send them home in either boxes or maimed. That is what I would do if I were superwoman.

Ah, the fabled short memory of the American pubilc is all too true. Hmmm, let me see, wasn’t it Condoleeza Rice who told the Prime Minister of Georgia, that if his government syood up to the Soviets, that the U.S, would back his play? Or maybe the comments that she made to the 9/11 Commission about advance knowledge of a terrorist attack against the United States by using airplanes? Remember, our country has lost respect and credibility because of our pre-emotive war against Iraq and Ms. Rice has supported this administration in every one of its ventures from an unwarranted war to torture! So, I can only hope that Ms. Rice is dead wrong about Obama having to follow George Bush’s foreign policy. which in a few words is - practically none.

You know, I’m old enough to know that people who have prejudices rarely have their minds changed. So, my comment is specifically dorected towards Jim and Tanja…I was married in 1966, he of polish american descent and I…hmm what did main stream America refer to race back in the day? Colored, black, Afro-American or all of the above? Anyway, peope like Jim and Tanja felt that blacks and whites shouldn’t have the right to marry, that is each other, either.
