No, not really. Mrs. Bush’s tangential involvement with all of the disastrious policies over the last eight years is too fresh on the circuits. Besides, I’m not interested in reading about another wealthy woman married to a powerful man. Fantasy liftstyles are not at the top of my agenda at the moment.

Happy Birthday Ms. Thomas. I met your father years ago when I was a bank officer at Security Pacific National Bank in Beverly Hills CA. If you could speak to him, he would tell you his memory of me was painful because I always ended up stepping on his foot. As you know, your father was a kind and gracious man. In his memory, and because I too attended an all girls Catholic high school as well as USC, I manage to contribute to St. Judes. Our lives have never crossed despite our similar tracks. Ah…I’m stunned…We know that our country has not only engaged in torture but our country has also condoned, or at the very least , allowed the rendition of suspected terrorists to other countries where these uspects have been tortured. There is so little that is known about this case, other than what the prosecutor wants to divulge. More information is desperately needed.

To think that a publisher has offered a $7 mil advance for Sarah Palin to write a book. Trust me, if Baracak Obama had an unmarried, pregnant 17 year old daughter, faced questions about his ethics (despite the trumped up ones by “the base,”) refused to respond to a court subpoena, required rape victims to pay for their own rape kits, then I’m certain he would have never been able to ignite the voters about the need for change. What far too many people don’t want to accept about this nation is that we have learned to accept and expect the lowest common denominator to define us. So many of us are so quick to pass judgement, to spew invective without even understanding what it is we’re so angry about. The bottom line is, we were and all stunned by what happened on 9/11. We feel powerless and to add insult to injury, we are quickly losing economic ground and we get caught up in talking about fringe issues. In order to turn our country around, its going to require all of us to pull together and really work together, as Americans, to ensure change that will be healthy for all of us.

I was a Poll volunteer. I live in CA and our polls closed at 8:00 PM PST. We worked from 6:00 AM to about 8:50 PM. Our Polling location, the local fire department, houses 2 precincts. A young fireman announced around 7:30 PM, PST, that we had a new president, Barack Obama.

I was a banker for 17 years. I left because the industry was de-regulated in 1983 under ronald Reagan. I was one person away from Charles Keating and his shenanigans and I can tell you that what we see today was going on back in the day, albeit on a much smaller scale, in the industry all those years ago. The trouble with our wolrd today is that we don’t have enough independent news sources to report just the news without the spin. The steady rise of the corporatocracy has overshadowed meaningful corporate growth through long tern strategies (5 year plans versus overnight profits) and smart business sense. We have an economic mess because of the greedy and profane. The system was engineered to fail.
