See this is one of the problems ,,,,,,,people using the ER as a Doctors office

costs us LOTS of money and is a huge problem in the USA

Nothing against you personally as I do not know you.

But to be assessed and given treatment in 40 minutes—it was either something very minor like a cold/flu or the ER did not do their job.

I have read them.And I have been in nursing my entire life—I have seen all the fads and changed rules and insurances come and go.

The friend I was referring to who lives in another country  (in my previous note) —If she lived in the USA—

she would be considered an emergency surgery=

take my word for it-

she is diabetic and needs to have a leg amputated asap

-but because of her advanced age

and that she only has one kidney left functioning

they are making her wait-

-over 4 months now.

That would be and should be considered neglect/abuse here. I can’t even imagine!

I have spent most of my career as a Hospital Nurse (retired now)==I remember when ”day stay” surgery started,

In the beginning it was a mess but they tweaked it and it seems to be under control now.

Did you know that 70% of all people who go in the hospital leave with an infection they did not come in with"

”Nosocomial Infections"

It is in your best interest to be out of the hospital as soon as you are able to be—-they follow up with Home Care Nurses

I had Cardiac ByPass Surgery at 50 and was in CCU for 24 hours then Telemetry for 48 hours then home,

3 Days,,,I was home in my Bed at home,,,,,Plus I have Lupus….,I had a Visiting Nurse who came everyday.

I have also had Day Stay Hospitalization-I see nothing wrong with it.

The surgery has to fit the stay —I have had a spinal nerve block done day stay and a tumor removed without any problems.

I personally am disabled so I know about going in/out of hospitals.

I used to have Urology Patients that stayed 3 days for a Cysto-now they go home same day or have it in the office.

Even gallbladders can be done daystay—they make a tiny little inscision and use scopes to remove it.

You can go back to work in2 weeks instead of 8 weeks big difference if you are the bread winner in your house.

The issues that used to come up now most times do not because you no longer have the large inscision to heal.

I don’t know what is going to happen to the system but it does not look good.

We used to do Primary Care—not anymore—now they try and tell the Doctors what they should be doing with Managed Care Plans.

The Doctors hate it.

I am an RN and I have been in Hospitals in a few other countries—they always seemed way behind where we were at for medical.

I was wondering about health care reform would we have to ”wait” for tests and surgeries.

Well it seems a few of my online friends from other places have written me and talked a lot about having to wait…most of them saying they wish they were in America because with what they had wrong with them they would be treated as a medical emergency  and not had to WAIT.

I cannot disclose personal info of my friends but as a nurse I was floored when one told me of the surgery she was waiting for—here it would be same day surgery positively.

Lets not be in a major RUSH to change everything right NOW!

We will all pay for it in the end if we do.

I never hear Obama saying anything about medical teams-meeting with Mds—does he have a Medical CZAR????????

I do not agree, Obama is a good man but I always felt he was too inexperienced yet to be president. And now it shows and it scares me.

Mucho wagging the dog—-going on me thinks as well.

More of our young men died in one month in Afghanisstan than since the war started—is ANYONE worried about that????

So far we have had a program for kids to follow with teachers/president.

A health care program that no one can explain in lay mans terms.

Today we have Obama and pulling out missles in Poland?

He had to have known it was the 75th anniversary of the Russians invading Poland I personally take offence to this as a pole.

Aren’t the Poles fighting side by side and dying with Americans in the war?

For a member of the congress/senate to scream out ”you lie” he had to be very frustrated…. IS IT A LIE?…..

anyone check? last I heard for the record there was a page in our health care plan page 13 I believe that said we would cover immigrants with health care.

I am not saying if I am for or against all the issues Obama raises—too much is happening too fast and it is scaring the average American.

Even Sen.Edward Kennedy who believed in Health Care Reform-says(right in his book) that he would never sign anything until he had read it all-had it all explained to him-and had a good understanding of what it meant.

Racists???? are you serious??lets not take the light off these issues by playing the race card….WE voted him into office so obviously this was NEVER an issue or he would not be where he is today.

He is not the "first african american president” he is half white and half black.

I suspect many of our earlier politicians had black blood in them and it just wasn’t recorded.

I just hate the Race Card game—think of something new please,get over it.

Fox news IS the number one news station in America=the numbers are there you cannot deny it—evenbeating out NBC etc…why?

Because the only news channel that really tells you what is really going on in America has caught the attention of not just Republicans but Democrats as well………..

I have always been a blonde(natural) now I put lighteners in and I have some grey and white hair as well—doesnt look to bad cause it is all curly (natural) I think you have inspired me to go RED —why not?? I am fair I can pull it off….that and my black nightie?

That woman surely made a statement about who she was—and a lasting effect on the many who were there.

I am not aging well-I don’t know why- I never expected  to react this way.

I was so lucky  for most of my life to be in excellent shape—thin -physically-natural blonde curly hair-perfect skin- blue eyes…

Then— I never much thought about my looks — hardly at all— nor did I ever care about fancy clothing etc……when all my friends were going nuts with designers etc…

Then I hit 45 and started to see all the changes in my body-I am heavy now-thanks to medication and thyroid and I hate it….

The only thing I have left is my curly hair and I don’t want to say that out loud or I will wake up with NO hair tomorrow!

My cousin says I gave myself a heart attack just because I was so hysterical about turning 50 (right on my b-day too)

She is right about me being upset about the age—the heart well that was just destiny.

In my head as a nurse-mother-woman-I realize how lucky I am to have survived all I have and still be here scars and all—but my heart just wont go along with it LOL,,,,

OK so after reading your leters yesterday I went and bought a Black Nightie-I have never owned one-a real nice one like a slip with lace—and it looks OK—hides the bad stuff—-maybe???
