oh Whoopi I so agree with you.A yound white girl in our school system got pregnant in the 8th grade, her parents adopted the kid, 3 years later she is home coming queen.A black young lady was pregnant in the 9th grade an the staff of the high school said ‘well what do you expect, look at her, she is a slut, like the rest of her family, when in truth her father is a dentist, her mother is a paralegal, and she only has one sibling, a younger brother. i was just helping out that day, as a few mothers sometimes do. I could not contain myself.of course after standing up for the black girl, i was never asked to come back. we live in the south, our school high school has maybe 500 students, maybe 15-20 hispanic, and less than 50 black students. I at the time was appaled, but to this day i am very embarassed by my community, and neighborhood.

i am very unnerved by Palin being on the ticket with mccain. even though i am as liberal of a democratas they come, i am sure Palin being on the ticket was a lure to american women who just want to see one on the ticket. if it had been Ms. Rice, i think she could lead the country easily, but Palin? i am not so sure. and why in the world would they parade and put a 17 year old girl in the spotlight, is not my idea of “conservative family values” that the republicans stand for.I really wanted Obama and Hillary on the ticket, i think they may have won, but now i am afraid of another term or terms of the same “let’s act before we think”and instead of taking the high road ’ lets just go and take our guns and tanks and our young people in the military and blow stuff up. and kill innocent citizens, destroy their road, homes, and schools, lives and kill as many as possible for no logical reason” why is it that we try to tell our children violence is not the answer when we do not practie this as a nation.
