When is a big family too big?

As long as you take all round responsibility for your children it is up to you how many or few you want. As for world resources, small families are quite capable of wasting as much or more than large families.

What's the nicest thing a neighbor ever did for you?

The nicest thing my neighbour did for me was come and sit with my three children when I went into labour with my fourth child in the middle of the night. She was so sweet about it. Having just settled them all down to sleep for the night I didn’t want to wake them up and take them to their Auntie’s house.

I am not a believer in Scientology, but if people want to follow an unusual religious path, then that is up to them. As far as I am aware they don’t cause harm to anyone. Live and let live. If you don’t like it, then don’t do it, but let the poor girl be an actress which is why she is there.

I love the acceptance speeches, some are boring, some manic, but some actually speak a bit of sense and you feel that person has some depth, or at least the person who wrote the speech might have!

On the subject of prenups, you:

I am probably missing the point, but marriage is a contract, if you know you are going to be together in love forever, why are you signing the contract. I don’t see that a pre-nup is a problem at all. To me it says, I totally want you for yourself and not your assets. If it makes people feel better to take a marriage contract, what is wrong with a pre-nup.

Today is Greta Garbo's birthday. At what times do you want to be alone?

I love company, more so as I get older, but 10 minutes alone in the garden on a crisp fresh morning is a great way to start the day. Although I would be happy to share those moments with someone who appreciated them as much as I do.

What can you say after the age of 40 that you couldn't say before?

After 40 I felt I could say ‘I am Kathryn’ not someone’s wife, mummy etc I had always introduced myself as someone’s daughter, wife or mummy.

We know what makes Brad Pitt and Leo DiCaprio sexy. What makes the mature man (over 50) sexy?

For me age is not the most important factor. Individuality, intelligence, inner self-belief, kindness, good manners, sense of humour, being open-minded without being easily influenced, creative, and accepting of others that is sexy to me, age and physical appearance are secondary, but if a guy had all that and was hot, well…….(a girl can but dream). A nice smile is always sexy too.

Would you date a man substantially younger than you?

I would date someone younger than me, could be a lot of fun.

What's the best thing you do for YOU?

I go and relax beside the sea, read a variety of wonderful books, feed myself well, enjoy my children, just watching them with wonder is my greatest joy. Having fun with friends who make me laugh. Watching comedy from the 70s

I want to be around as long as possible as I am very curious and want to know what exciting things will happen in the world and hopefully do something worthwhile myself. Having said that I would want to be healthy and mentally alert when I hit 90 so that life is still fulfilling.
