Just as a side note, when I joined the military in 1973 and took my oath I had to renounce all claim to England. I was born there when my father was stationed there in the navy.  Both my parents are citizens.  After I took my oath I was told I could rise as high as I liked in the service to my country but that I could never run for President because I was a citizen born abroad (just like McCain) and therefore not eligible to run for the highest office in the country.

Isn’t it interesting that the US Navy brought that to my attention and my brothers when he joined.

I don’t get why you keep bringing up JFK and LBJ.  Did JFK have affairs? We don’t know diffinitely, his wife said not.  LBJ may have been a jerk for his behavior towards others (making them talk to him while he was in the bathroom) but I never heard that he had affairs.  On the other hand, I did hear about Nixon (my stepdad did his official portraits and coins), Reagan and Bush Srs lapses and the fact that they were remorseful and went back and clung to their wives.  Clinton was the first pres in recent history to be caught while in office of a dailience; however many pres have had affairs on both sides.  We start with Washington, Jefferson, Adams, Monroe, Harding, Coolidge, Wilson, FDR, Eisenhower to name a few.  No party holds the crown  on moral values.  Quite frankly I’m tired of hearing that this a "Christian country founded on Christian values".  As someone who is not Christian but whoes ancestors helped found this country from the 1600’s I’m appalled that anyone continues to ignore the other people of this Great Country.

deber B, Margo kicked that door open because the GOP touts themselves as the party of moral values.  The democrats do not, and they also admit that when someone in office is caught with misbehavior it is their own failing not the party’s.  Since the republican’s wrapped themselves up as the only party with moral values, when one of them falls from the path it hurts their credibility. These boards are so busy accusing one party or the other that they forget that this is an issue about the Gov and whether he left his state without knowledge of his where abouts and how to contact him.  For that he should resign.  The damage he did to his marriage and family is personal not political; that said I am glad his wife chose not to stand beside him.  Other wives may stand by their husbands (maybe as I did in my marriage) because they said for "better or worse".  Some of us believe that even when things were at their worsed.

deber B, you are incorrect about the surplus.  Social Security had a 300 million dollar surplus when Clinton left office.  One of the first things Pres. Bush did was tap the surplus for the budget for special projects.  He gave them IOU’s not Clinton.

I know it’s tough on these boards to get any truth across, but you have done so in a polite and inciteful  manner.  Thanks for your documenting your arguement, many here just throw stuff out and see if it sticks.  Even though I am not a marijuana user and never used it as a teen (grew up in a military family and would have been sure my dad would have found out!), I do not believe it is as bad as alcohol who’s devestation I have seen first hand.  Thanks again for your information.

Just a quick note. I’m Jewish and my best friend is Muslim.  He faith is one of peace and love.  She will tell you that the muslims of the middle east behave the way they do because of ARABIC beliefs and culture.  They have nothing to do with the Islamic religion. As a student of history I agree, all of the ARABIC culture and medival treatment of their women come from this region.  The Islamic faith is not practiced this way in other countries around the globe, only in the middle east.  (my bf was originally from Trinidad)

My husbands ex-wife several times had the children have medical treatment without his consent for ridiculous things (one of his daughters actually had plastic surgery to have the size of her labia reduced supposedly because it kept causing infections. When they came to see us, I found that they were wearing underwear that was 3 sizes to small, the true reason for infections). Even though the court had said that they both had shared custody and that all medical treatment had to be agreed to, she would get it done and used my insurance for it, even if he disagreed. I can fully understand that the surgery could have been done and then they find out afterwards. After the second medical treatment without our consent we petitioned the court ourselves and were told that as long as they were living with her and she thought it was needed, we had no say at all. (until they committed one of the children and then the court gave me (the stepmom) medical guardianship. Sad but true of the courts that they are unconcerned unless it can be proved detrimental.

After reading all the rantings about abortion (although the topic was supposed to be about the arial hunting of wolves), I am once again profoundly greatful that I am Jewish. Abortion is a non-issue for us as the Torah teaches us that life begins with the first “breath of life”. As for EH we have all known that she is there only for ratings and hasn’t a thought that is useful in her head. Shalom (Peace)

You are incorrect about the Gosselin’s. Kate is a registered nurse who continued to work for a year to 18mos after giving birth to the sextuplets. Jon is in IT and was able to finally freelance and work from home 2yrs after the children were born. The money that they make from their show and of which is earned by the children (all eight of them) 50% must go into a trust account that they receive at the majority (the Jackie Coogan Law) and the other maybe used for living expenses. Kate is merely stating that SHE wouldn’t have done this as a single parent because SHE would not have been able to handle all the day to day needs of all the children by herself and that that would have caused emotional neglect. I agree, and I use to be a child abuse investigator.

I’m sorry that was your experience. I worked the Obama Campaign. I knocked on doors, did phone calls and even spoke to people when I was grocery shopping here in Central Florida. I spoke with hispanics, blacks, caucasions, christians, jews and muslims. I spoke with republicans and independents as well as democrats. I spoke with 18yr olds up to 88yr olds and I found that they were voting for Obama because they wanted change from the catastrophy that the last 8yrs have been. I signed people up to vote and encouraged early voting. Never in any election that I have participated in since 1976 have I seen so many republicans that voted democrat as in this election. Even the staunch republican state of Florida turned blue this election.

Just goes from bad to worse doesn’t it.

I have always been most disturbed by the homeless and hungry in our country. Because of our economy it is becoming an enormous problem, with many schoolage children caught up in it. I will continue to donate to local foodbanks, with both food and time to help stock their shelves. I will continue to donate to Second Harvest via my work and to United Way that helps so many. What I am doing this holiday season is on Christmas Day I will deliver groceries to my daughter’s bestfriend. She and her husband are trying hard to eliminate debt and stay within their means. However nature has played a trick on them and now she is pregnant with twins (she needs to eat more! LOL) and they have a 2yr old daughter. I bought a used small freezer and have stocked it with 2 1/2 months worth of meat. We have purchased can goods to fill her pantry, as well as rice, cake mixes, cookie mixes (there are sure to be cravings!) boxes of noodles, assorted other groceries and we will buy fresh fruit and vegies tomorrow to take with us. In addition we have bought toys for the 2yr old, purchased a used crib and restored it, a second dresser (cause they are having twins) and restored it and we are sewing blankets and curtains for the nursery. In essance my daughter and I are having the best time of our lives, you see this isn’t a gift for her friend, it’s our holiday gift to each other.

How sad that a portion of our society must resort to such extreme measures. Unfortunately, this will not stop the fighting. When the factions decide they do not have enough men they will find a reason to recruit the women. Take the middle east as an example. Yo lo creo!
