I am amazed and happy for this country! How wonderful that they have recognized the input and capacity that women can contribute to their country. How sad that we in the US still can’t believe in equal pay for equal work, or recognize that women make a difference in our own country. I wish them all well and the best that they can be!

Since I personally know John McCain and his family (we are Navy tradition too) let me tell you a few facts. The McCain’s in the Navy were always elitist, they looked down on others and thought themselves above everyone else. Out of more than 600 men held in Hanoi Hilton, John was one of ten that made a taped confession that the US was wrong in order to better his treatment there (not that he did not suffer and was a hero, but there were men there for longer who did not do what he did). John McCain cheated on his first wife numerous times by his own admission and was a poor husband. He told Cindy he was single and applied for a marriage liscense before he was divorced by his own admission. By his own admission he has sided against Veteran’s issues for more than 20 yrs (apparently he doesn’t want to take care of his own). By his own admission he favors the wealthy and thinks that the little guy should suck it up. By his own admission he thinks that the people who are being foreclosed on created the problem themselves without help from the mortgage brokers or realestate people who misled them. By his own admission he believes that women don’t deserve the same pay as men and has frequently come out against the equal pay for equal work act. By his own admission he believes that workers should not be able to unionize. Tell me again why I should vote for him?

Frau, good for you that you want to be politically active. That is what this country needs.

Almost all of that you posted as already been debunked month’s ago and the support of those unsavorable groups you listed were given notice both in writing and during campaign speeches as rejected. In addition, Obama has only 1 half-sister, the other “members” of his family are step children of his father’s and no blood relation to him. Interesting that you chose to insult his wife, guess you don’t appreciate a woman educated in some of the finest schools this country has to offer, who put herself through school on her on and has dedicated herself to making her community better. Sorry, please accept a ticket to the next best country you can find. I’m voting for a highly intelligent, well spoken, well thought man that this country has ever produced. As a Navy Veteran (and from a family of Navy Veteran’s) I am proud to support the best potential POTUS this country has seen in over 60 yrs. Senator Obama I’m proud to have met you and to vote for you.

Well I have to put my 2 cents in since Barbara West is the ABC station in my area. :( Sadly she has never been a good reporter and has always sided with the Rep. Camp as her husband is a Lobbyest for them. Whenever she interviews a Dem. she always attacks with misquotes, leading questions (so you didn’t kill your wife on tuesday, what day did you kill her on?) and ignores answers that are given as if the person hadn’t talked. You should watch her everyday, you would see just what a moron she is. Maybe she can’t help it as here in Orlando; Disney controls all and the exec’s are all staunch Reps. That’s why I watch the other stations and BBC America if I want real news.

Susan, sorry I just have to laugh! My daughter’s original birth certificate looked like the second one you showed. When we lost this and she was getting ready for high school here in FL, I sent to SC for an official copy, they sent me a certificate that was printed the size of a soc. sec. card and said that is what they were using then. Bless her, my daughter lost her birth certificate again in her late 20’s and had to get another copy. This time she received one that looks very similar to what Obama had issued to him. Just an interesting note, both my brother and I were born in England while my father was in the Navy there. When we joined the service ourselves we had to swear to repudiate any claim to British citizenship. After we had done so we were reminded my the military judge that we could run for any office in the U.S. except President as we were considered American’s born abroad. Guess they changed their minds for McCain.

Margo, my thoughts exactly. Fortunately the Media actually decided to put out the truth about the guy, including the fact that he owes back taxes on his home. Personally I’m tired of the people who make the least paying more in taxes than the wealthy or there being a cut off on income that doesn’t tax what they earn after a certain amount. My own personal opinion is that we should all pay a flat tax—individual’s and businesses with no exclusions. There wouldn’t be a need for filing income tax if you work, because it would come straight out of your pay. If you were a business, less paperwork because it would be a flat amount against your earnings—period! No deductions, no tax breaks, just pay as you go. You could cut the IRS personel by thousands, think of the savings. Only a few days left till the election, hopefully America will make the right choice and stand up to the smear tatics, lies and half truth’s. If we don’t the Country deserves what it gets, more of the same and a world wide depression.

I was at the Orlando rally, it was awesome!!! I am currently working on the Obama/Biden campaign with my union. This has been an incredibly stressful month, but we can see the light at the end of the tunnel here in Florida. Only 10days to go! Obama/Biden ‘08!!!

I’ve thought about this alot (as I play the lottery to support schools! LOL). 1. I would pay down my mother’s debt and home so she wouldn’t have to worry at age 75 of being homeless. 2. I would buy a house for my daughter, grandson and myself. With the other $500k here is where I would put it: 100k to Nemour’s hospitals who treat children around the country for little or no cost. 100k to Second Harvest, but not in money in what I could purchase in food to give them. 100k I would go to United Way and ask for those people who needed help paying their utility bills and I would pay them. 100k I would give to my local MDA, an organization I have supported for 4 decades. The Last 100k I would give to the Wildlife Federation who does so much to support animals around the world. You will notice that I did not set up any educational accounts for my grandchildren; I expect them to earn those on their own either through scholarships, grants, loans or military service like all of the rest of their family has done.

I watched last night as I am a SNL fan from the beginning. I am an Obama/Biden supporter, but I will give “props” to Gov. Palin for going on and being able to laugh at herself. She didn’t blow a line and kept cool about the skits, even though they were about her. Amy Poehler was awesome in her “rap!” I’m voting tomorrow, don’t want to wait and have to stand in line for 7hrs like some had to last election.

Hardly a news flash, LOL. Who didn’t figure that she had abused her power? To bad, McCain decided to take the low road he promised not too.

I’ve been saying to family and friends for two years now that the country was going to head into a depression. The once staple of the economy (land) was being subverted by the greedy. The natural order of things would make it fall to correct itself. The precedents of most depression is when land starts to lose value so does everything else except precious metals. I refused to by a house during the last two yrs even though I wanted to because I knew the values would fall. Currently homes that were selling in my area for $520k a year ago are selling for $269k or less. We have a bumpy 4 to 5yrs to go ahead of us.

Since I live here close to the Anthony family here in central florida, I have been inundated with news of this case. As a former child abuse investigator I originally thought that perhaps she had sold the child or given her away. But as the days passed and then the cadaver dogs did their job I have become convinced that the child is deceased. Some here would say that she may have harmed her by accident, but the only true accident could only occur if she was not involved (ie-giving her a bath and coming in to discover she had drowned or a pool incident, etc). If it was a true accident why would she not have called for help? Whether the mother is guilty or not, something happened to this little girl. Her mother has not cooperated with the police and has told lie after lie to all around her. But I have questions: she was living with her parents for the last 3yrs, why didn’t they realise she was no longer working? Why did her parents not insist in seeing the child since they had such a close relationship (was at nursing home on June15th photos)? Why did none of her friends and family question not seeing the child after being told she was with her nanny more than once? This is a totally sad situation that happens to children who fall under the radar of schools.
