O.J. Simpson Found Guilty of Armed Robbery; Faces Life in Prison

Sorry to see that all of you are bringing up OJ’s first trial in connection to this one. They are two different incidents. First is my feelings about OJ and his non-conviction for his wife’s murder or goldman’s. That is just that, he was accuitted for whatever reason by a jury of his peers. Not guilty. Second is my feeling about the civil trial and verdict. Whether you beleived the man guilty or not, to then convict him of causing the deaths of others that a court of law has just said he is not guilty of is an insane clause in our justice system that reaks of double jeprody and the reason that I have now entered law school to find out how badly our justice system is marred. Third he is not now getting his just deserts, this trial should have been totally unbiased. that it wasn’t is a travisty of justice that all americans should rise up and say no more!

Loud-Mouth-and-Loose-Lipped Palin Owes Obama an Apology for This One, by Margo Howard

Thank you for your post. Unfortunately, it won’t effect the “rabid republicans” in their views. I coined the above title when after weeks of just asking a question on their canidate’s views (not attacking mind you, just asking) people started frothing at the mouth and claiming that the world was against them, that we were being too hard on Palin and attacking McCain because he is a veteran (I myself am a navy vet). I could never figure out the reaction until I realized that they could defend their position on the issues because their party hasn’t given them any other than the current positions that the President holds. So instead of having an honest discussion about the issues they resort to screaming and complaining that the dems are trying to hurt them. (unfortunately some of my own family are republican’s and I still can’t have a discussion with them due to the frothing at the mouth thing; I can’t even say their names without a tirad.) Here is hoping that eventually before the election, someone will discuss the Republican’s stance on the issues. I look forward to their answers.

Mary, I respect your opinion and your right to disagree. All of the reports I have seen gave the debate to Joe Biden. BTW, I didn’t watch the debate in a bar. I watched in my home with a group of fellow businessmen and women with whom I work. The comments by the way came from ages ranging from 26 to 55. We are a fairly diverse group as I said in my post.

I’m sorry to have to finally respond to someone in our forum for being so totally incorrect. You should give credience to your statement that she put “Joe and Gwen” in their place and spoke true. She did not answer the question posed to her (even after being reiterated several times) 8 out of 10. I also watched the debate with several people (not decided, independents, republicans and dems) and the male reaction was that she was hot, and the women cringed when she spoke. I gave her more credence. She is very good at spewing out what she has been taught, but not good at thinking on her own. When she does, she comes off as a very self centered person whoes opinion means more to her than the greater good. Tonights debate, goes to Biden. Get out and VOTE!!! May the LORD help us if those who know don’t.

Okay, I just have to weigh in. I watched this debate and paid very close attention to the questions and the answers. I will not name names in my response to this debate. For any national canidate to be given a direct question and to answer with another topic is unreal and unbelievable. Any canidate who is running for office who is asked a direct succinct question should respond in kind. For any canidate to take direct shots at another canidate without confirming their information to accuse is atrotious—democrat or republican—think about the american people and less about yourself. And finally I will give you my opinion as a minority (hispanic, jewish, woman) with how I feel about politics in general. If you run for office, don’t lie to me, don’t exagerate the facts and don’t smear your fellow running mate with untruths—it makes me doubt that you are seeking my best interests. So given this elections choices, I will support Obama/Biden because they have yet to take the low road as the other party has. Because they consider middle America and as a Navy Veteran I could never support a Naval Officer that continually bucked the military’s decisions that could have cost untold numbers of men and womens lives.

She’s talking about Obama voting party lines!!!! Whatever! Did she look at McCain’s voting record???? What Maverick!

Choosing from our 2008 list, who do you think is the sexiest man over 50?

I’d have to say a toss up between Sean Connery and Patrick Stewart. However, I also find Charles Gibson very appealing just by his demeanour.

Cindy McCain: 'The View' Ladies 'Picked Our Bones Clean'

First: You are mistaken, Governor’s of states also can ask for funding either by themselves or via the congressmen and senator’s that assist them. Palin hired a lobbyist to do this for her. She hired one to get funding for Wasilla when she was mayor as well. Second: McCain may be the only canidate that has been in the service and fought in a war, I also hold the National Defense Medal for Service during Viet Nam—this does not make me qualified to be President. As a veteran of the navy I will tell you that most navy vets have very little respect for McCain and his treatment of his wife and family (the first one that stood by him while he was a POW and he deserted), or his disrespect during his service for the military and its rules and regulations. As a “maverick” he was known to not pay enough attention to his superiors, follow their orders as told and even managed to crash a jet worth millions because he didn’t read the manual. Some potential commander in cheif! Third: People show up to see Palin because she is an oddity. Kind of like watching Jerry Springer on TV—there but for the grace of GOD go I. The Republican’s I know here in central Florida (about 2500) are planning to vote for Obama/Biden. They are working at our campaign offices.

What Will Katie Couric Ask Sarah Palin?

McCain speak from his heart??? First he is for deregulation adimately, now he is for it. He sides with Bush 90% of the time, but now he is a reformer in Washington. He is opposed to offshore drilling and now it is “drill baby drill!”. He believes in stem cell research, but now he doesn’t. He leaves his wife who stood by him while he was a POW to have numerous affairs after she is disfigured to marry a woman that he lied to while dating (and refused to take care of while she was ill and had a stroke) but he is honorable. Those of us who are Navy Vets (myself included) know John’s honor—none exists today. He would be lucky if I spit on him. Forget Palin, the election is about John and his dishonor. He is not the man I would but in the White House or even in my dogs house.

McCain Campaign: Palin Won't Meet With 'Troopergate' Prosecutor

This is truely insane that after saying over and over again that she has nothing to hide that she will not meet with the investigator’s of the committee. The bipartisan committee was chosen BEFORE she was chosen by McCain and has more republican’s than democrats. So how is it now believed to be the other party is supposed to have set it all up to pull her down? It is time that “we the people” stand up and insist that ALL of our politicians be held accountable.

What advice would you give a daughter, niece, goddaughter or granddaughter who was pregnant out of wedlock?

As someone who has done both (had an abortion and had the child and given them up for adoption) I was also confronted with my own child getting pregnant and having to make a choice. I supported whatever decision they chose to make and told them that they didn’t have to worry about finances no matter what their decision.(my daughter eventually decided that she was not ready to become a mother and neither was the child’s father; however 8 yrs later she had a child that the father didn’t want but she did) Her stepfather disagreed with me to the point that he retreated to our room for several days until everything was decided. My father who is had been anti-choice until this point said to my daughter that he had helped me raise after her father deserted her said: I have a grandchild out there that I will probably never meet and even though you mother had her adopted in our faith (jewish); I will go to the Lord always yearning for the child I never will know. Our faith will not punish you or your child, so you must decide by our belief what is best for both. No one on earth can punish you for your decision except our government by their actions and motivations in the future. Your family and faith will support you no matter what. To this day, I cannot imagine a more deeply felt statement than this. Had I known that I had hurt my father so much by my action’s (adoption) I may have reconcidered. This would have financially and emotionally hurt the children that I already had whose father refused to pay support (court ordered via our divorce) by placing them in a position of even more financial straights than we were in. No one who has not been in my decision can say how they feel. I greive every day for my daughter; even though I chose her family—tried to make sure that she would be secure. There are never any promises that she was loved and cherished. Only that she is still loved and cherished in my heart 17 yrs later. Did I miss the child i aborted? Until today, i never even thought of them. In my faith as in the bible, life begins with the breath of life. Does this mean that I think all abortions are justified? No, I don’t. If the child is viable, there is a chance of life, if medical intervention can make the child survive everything should be done to save them. Prior to the 5th month it should be the mother’s choice, if she was raped, if it is a child under 18 molested by a relative or a child produce from any kind of violence it should be the mother’s choice. Sometimes with guidence from parents and councelour’s (in the case of incest or molestation). But ultimately from the body that is carrying them. Why am I such a proponent of choice? Because I had that decision. Not an easy road to make, but my own. I cry everyday for my daughter that I may never know, but not at all for those I never knew.

Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

Thank you for your reply Whoopi. It took me awhile to catch up as I was out trying to organize a hospital here in FL so that the nurses, tech’s and other workers can have dignity in the work place, a decent wage, affordable healthcare, seniority rights, job stability and retirement. Yes you guessed it I’m a Union Organizer. Although I respect the opinions of others, I try never to be contencious. I have found that open discussion without rancor usually works better than all the back-stabbing and insults that are hurled by those who have no wish to see the otherside. I enjoy watching the View when I can and as another 53yr old, also have some rather head banging moments when I do not agree with some of the younger members on the show. I take a deep breath and tell myself that they are entitled to their opinion no matter how wrong I think they are. I get the same in the work places that I visit and represent. No one is the same and thank the Lord we all have different opinions, how boring life would be if we didn’t! Thank you again for just being you, I have enjoyed your career and “growing up” with you! (all though my family will tell you I will never grow up!) Blessings on you and yours! Shalom, Tina

Whoopi Goldberg: Sarah Palin 'Is a Very Dangerous Woman'

To demean the loss of ones familly members by implying that they were not as important as the captivity of another person is to be ungracious. No one should demean another’s loss to justify that someone else suffered more. I do not deny that McCain suffered for 1 1/2 yrs until the VC decided that live prisoners who were somewhat healthy were better than dying ones (see reports by other Hanoi Hilton survivors that were there 2yrs longer than McCain was and by his fellow academy schoolmate who was there 2 yrs before McCain was captured). We can discuss Palin and her obvious mean spiritedness, her lies that are becoming uncovered and whether she should or shouldn’t become VP. But the truth is whether McCain should become President. My answer is no, no and no!!!! He is shallow, flip-flops (proven by his own record), was a mediocre naval officer (and was not well liked), deserted his wife who stood by him after she was disfigured in an accident, lied to his current wife by telling her he was single when they started dating, applied for a marriage license before his divorce was even finalized, voted with Bush 90% of the time during this administration (he even touts this in his own ads), has anger management issues, memory problems, has had 2 heart attacks and 4 bouts with skin cancer. This isn’t someone I want in office

Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

just a side note. corporations don’t need anymore tax breaks, most corporations pay no or little taxes as it is due to the deductions that they are allowed to take. i know i’ve done taxes for corporations for more than a decade. what they public objects to is the fact that corporations don’t pay taxes, not the rate that they are taxed at. after all 0% x whatever= 0 taxes. :)

The wowOwow Reader Forum on Governor Palin

I agree with you, I originally reserved judgement of Ms Palin until I could do some research on her. She does seem to be a jumble of mixed values (what my momma used to call two faced and I call being a politician). Someone on one of the other sites wanted to know why she didn’t just get the hospital records of the birth of her son; according to the anchorage news the hospital has stated in a press release that their records do not show that Trig was born at there hospital on that day. Now tell me how that happens, and know the doctor who is supposed to have delivered him no longer works there. What a mess! No one would really care who the babies mom is, but this mess makes it “appear” to be a cover-up whether it is or not. I certainly do not blame Ms Palin for her daughter being in pregnant. I don’t care how much information you give a teen (boy or girl), they are going to do whatever they want at some point. Barbara on the View just read a statistic that 1/3 of girls get pregnant unintentionally before age 20. Ms Palin’s criticism comes because she want to take the choice of whether to have a child or not away from everyone else—even if the mother’s life is in danger, or if the pregnancy is the result of rape or incest. The fact that she presents herself as so right as to bypass her running mate only makes the decision on who to vote for much easier for anyone who even leans slightly to the left. As to those who believe that Hillary supporters would jump on the McCain bandwagon, nothing could be further from the truth. If they truely supported Hillary they would never be able to reconcile the republican views and beliefs with what Hillary stood for; they are the exact opposite. In my opinion, I think that McCain decided he didn’t really want to get into office so he chose a running mate who wav virtually unknown and would not appeal to many due to her right-wing views. For me: No way-No how- No McCain! Obama/Biden ‘08
