Sarah Palin, Governor of Alaska Reportedly McCain's VP Pick

I’ve followed Palin and she turned the state of Alaska on its head when she ran bucking traditional politics and making changes. So she’s young and “unexperienced” Well experience is basically saying you’ve been in Washington long enough to get comfortable with how things are going and fall in line. I’m not saying I’m 100% behind McCain Palin b/c I’m also intrigued by Obama. But McCain didn’t put Palin up for VP just b/c she’s a woman he put her there for the “change.” Oh and Rush— there is this new thing of woman going back to work after having kids…heard of it?

Teen Pregnancies Are On the Rise. Who's to Blame?

As long as society is pointing fingers nothing is going to change. Kids will still think of themselves as invincible, adults will still think their children are saints, and educators will be left without the resources to do anything. Here, I’ll start. I take the blame and I promise to have a real discussion with my children by the time they are 12. I promise to have that discussion in a doctors office with tons and tons of pictures of stds and how babies are born. And if I’m not getting through I will find a way and nag on until my kids are so sick of hearing about it. And I’ll call them when I’m away from them for more than an hour. I’ll make it my business to know their business. Whatever it takes.

Who is the most famous person you've ever met? What were the circumstances?

Unfortunately, or maybe not, I don’t have some grand story to tell all the famous people I’ve met. However, the most famous man I have met I was not all that impressed with. Our current governer was holding a summit for youths to discuss current problems when I was a freshman in college. I was floored that someone cared about our opinions and I had recieved an invitation. The summit was at the governer’s mansion in a adjacent pavillion. The entire time the governer’s children were outside riding go- carts in circles throughout the property but most memorable around the pavilion we were in. I kept thinking to myself that if only we were discussing a budget for the state office we might get some quiet and be able to hear each other!

Where do you get your health insurance?

I recieve health insurance through my work. My husband and I have put off having kids because of how much more insurance will cost. (Child care is also weighing in).

Sunday is the 11th anniversary of Princess Diana's death. Do you remember where you were when you heard the news that she died?

I was 12 years old. I knew who Princess Diana was but not much else. We were at my parent’s lake cabin and it was late. I came running into a room and was immediately hushed. I remember not understanding why my mother was so moved by a British Royal being killed. As I’ve grown and realized who and what Princess Di meant to the world I now understand. However, I still do not understand why my mother insisted on buying a Princess Di calander and keeping it in the wrapper (she still has it)!
