The Most Powerful Person in the Health-Care Debate, by Judy Bachrach

Yes, Chrome Toe, I fully agree. When was the last time this woman was in a doctor’s office, had to wait 1-2 hours, complained about it and got any results? I have a friend who use to refuse to wait longer than 20 min. to see her doctor, saying her time was just as valuable as his. Well, unfortunately, my friend died of toxic shock because she couldn’t get in to see her doctor and her infection had spread too far by the time they air-lifted her to a hospital. We as patients have very little leverage in this health care game. We are powerless to set the rates, decide what insurance companies will cover and what they won’t, how much perscription drugs cost, etc., etc., etc. We’re in charge of NOTHING, and therefore, cannot possibly be the most important people in this health care debate.

Susan Boyle Gets Glamorous Makeover for Harper's Bazaar Photo Shoot

Belinda, good to hear from you again! I haven’t seen any comments from you in a long time. I thought you’d left the site for good. Sometimes I think about doing that myself! I’ve always loved your kind-hearted messages.

Maybe Not Such a Nobody, by Sybil Adelman Sage

Just a footnote here. Sybil has her facts wrong about Sarah Palin. She said "40% of Americans have a negative opinion of her". Not true, Syb. According to the poll, which was conducted from July 15-18 by the Washington Post and ABC News, 1001 people across America were polled, and S.P. had a 53% disapproval rating, and a 40% approval rating. Maybe this self-proclaimed overachiever needs to check her facts better.

Doesn't Anyone Care What I Have to Say? by Sybil Adelman Sage

This was great! Very funny! I love Sybil’s comparison of the moonwalk to the men she’s dated. Loved it!

From Diane Sawyer to Jennifer Aniston: Paul Podlucky Picks the Best Summer Hairstyles of 2009

To Phyllis and Judy, my sentiments, too! Who is this guy anyway, and why should I care what his opinion is??? He’s such a name dropper and so full of himself! Personally, I think a couple of those people need new hairstyles.

Does the decrease in Obama's approval rating worry you? How does he measure in your book? What are his greatest weaknesses now?

Kelly in Texas, you clearly hate President Obama. Too bad more of us didn’t feel as you do when GW was elected the first time. Maybe we wouldn’t be in this mess now. Your post doesn’t make much sense….."money making scam for GE and Obama supporters"? Oh good, I’m a supporter. How can you say that after 6 short months he is failing miserably?? And where did you get the statistics about NH ~ Rush or Fox news? You are so eaten up with hatred, it’s sad. BTW, I, too, live in Texas, and use to be a full fledged republican, until I realized that the GOP and their policies was what went dreadfully wrong with this country. Please, just give this administration a chance to fix the mess they inherited. If they don’t do a good job within the 4 years they’ve been given, then we can all gripe and complain and vote him out. But until then, give Obama a chance. I doubt he can screw up even close to the way GW did.

Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit

Even though people don’t like making religion an issue, it will become an issue if he runs again. Their are too many disenfranchised ex-Mormons out there, and others who are not Mormon who simply won’t trust him; especially after seeing the way the Mormon Church turned the ERA, and then Prop 8 into such fiascos with their bloc Mormon vote, dictated to them from their Church general authorities on how they were to vote. He will surely receive more support in the western states where there’s a higher concentration of Mormons. Americans need to read up and investigate the history of this church and how it still operates today before you consider Mitt Romney as a serious candidate. As a former Mormon, I recommend reading The God Makers by Ed Decker & Dave Hunt. Then read The Mormon Conspiracy by Charles Wood, then top it off with a very real account Leaving the Saints by Martha Beck, a widely published Psychologist who writes for "O"magazine. There is suppose to be a separation of church and state, but that’s not how Mormon authorities do things. In Utah, the General Authorities from the church meet on a regular basis with the Mormon politicians (i.e. Orrin Hatch) to make sure their politics agree with church doctrine. Separation of church and state? Not by a long shot.

Ann Coulter Explains Palin's Exit

"Obama just can’t fight fair…" Excuse me, WHAT??? I’ve been paying pretty close attention for the last 4 months since President Obama took office, and I just can’t remember a single negative thing I’ve heard him say about Sarah Palin. For that matter, I don’t think he’s mentioned her at all, nor has he probably given her a single thought. You and your fellow Sarah lovers have raised this mystical Sarah up onto this pedestal where you’ve turned her into some imagined super goddess. I don’t care much for Ann Coulter, but this time I believe she’s right, and comments like yours just prove her case. Politicians with no power tend to fade away. I think the real reason she resigned is because she doesn’t make enough money as governor of Alaska to pay her legal fees, and she needs a much better paying job. I guarantee we’ll be seeing her on some cable show gig in the near future. On Fox perhaps?

Should the U.S. be more involved in the election aftermath in Iran?

I agree with the way in which President Obama is handling the Iranian election protests. Tuesday he made it quite clear that he is apalled by the treatment of the protesters at the hands of their government. But some (Republicans) are calling for more outrage (McCain). What more do they want? Threats? Bullying? They’re still living in the GW Bush era. When all is said and done, President Obama is the one who has to deal with the Iranian government, regardless of the outcome of the protests. Let him do his job as he sees fit.

Susan Boyle's Liverpool Performance: Prompts Star to Rant About Cat 'Pebbles'

Oh, Deb, I SO agree with that!! I’ve already grown weary of hearing about Susan Boyle and her crazy outbursts. I heard she was mentally challenged, and obviously all this fame has brought too much pressure on her. She needs to get out of the headlines and go back to singing in the church choir.

Bruno Bettelheim: Satan in Drag, by Cornelia Read

I taught as a Special Education teacher for 25 years, and have worked with many, many autistic children and their parents. I can honestly say that most of the mothers I worked with were loving, devoted mothers who would go to the ends of the earth to help their child. Autism is a cruel, tragic affliction that robs a family of that child’s sweet spirit. It is occurring at an alarming rate. Twenty-five years ago, 1 out of 10,000 children would be diagnosed with autism. That figure is now more like 1 out of 150. We absolutely need to find out why this is happening and find a way to stop it.

What might the loss of our tradition of bipartisanism mean for the country?

We’ve been down this road before, with BOTH parties. Hopefully, when the Republicans come back, they’ll be a kinder, more moderate party that will be more appealing and in step with how most Americans think and feel today. It’s wrong to count them completley out. They’re just down, perhaps for a decade, but they’ll be back.

Romney Blasts Obama on Foreign Policy: 'A Timid Advocate of Freedom'

Sorry, S.J. As an ex-mormon I totally disagree. Religion will be a very big concern when it comes to Romney. And your comment about a "…society hell bent on electing a Black or at least mostly black man…" strikes as rather racist. I’m white and I did not vote for Obama because I was "hell bent on electing a black man". I voted for the most intelligent choice. McCain-Palin just wasn’t that choice.

Romney Blasts Obama on Foreign Policy: 'A Timid Advocate of Freedom'

Rudi, I agree! I subscribe to the Anchorage Daily News online, and I can tell you just by the comments Alaskans post, Palin will be lucky if she wins the Governor’s race in 2010, let alone get the nomination for President in 2012. She sunk her own ship.

Rep. Jan Schakowsky Blasts 'Fox News-Fueled' Tea Parties as 'Despicable'

Bravo, Suzanne!! Very well stated. Thank you for articulating the truth so well. I’m so sick of these Obama bashers. If they’d just open their eyes and pay attention to what is actually happening, they would see that in just less than 3 short months, Pesident Obama is already turning things around. I think he’s going to be one of the finest presidents this country has ever elected.
