Liz Smith: Conspiracies and Racism in the New Age of Obama: We Have Still Not Overcome

If you like depressing movies, the by all means, go see it. Kate Winslet does give a very powerful performance, but with the depressing economic news of the day, I prefer to see films that make me laugh and lift me up. “Marley & Me” did that. My grandkids loved “Mall Cop”. “Revolutionary Road” takes place in the 1950s and does not end well.

Heather Mills as Man Magnet?

That woman is SOOOO full of herself!! She’s kidding herself if she thinks it’s her beauty they’re after. I gaurantee you, the ones chasing her have no money of their own. The smart guys who have their own wealth will steer clear of THAT baracudda!! Saw Paul McCartney on the View last week. He seems to be quite happy…now.

Joan Ganz Cooney Cautions George Bush

I’m glad Bush is gone, unfortunately, he’s back here in Texas. However, I did think he behaved decently yesterday at the inauguration. He had nothing but praise for President Obama. I think he is quite relieved to be finished in Washington, and happy to be going home. I, for one, am very happy that he’s gone, and so excited to have an intelligent, level headed, reasonable man as President who has our best interests at heart.

Why Does Bush Feel the Need to Defend His Record? (Video)

LOL!! Oh, Sandbee, what a great line!! Just ignore what Jim H. says. He just doesn’t understand. People in Texas have been experiencing “W” longer than anyone. We’re the ones who truly know him by his deeds. Enjoy the inauguration!

Why Does Bush Feel the Need to Defend His Record? (Video)

The question is “Why Does Bush Feel the Need to Defend His Record?”. Who else would defend it?

How are you planning to mark the Inauguration?

I’ll be babysitting for my 2 month old granddaughter, but we’ll be glued to the TV all day. After the baby goes home, we’ll break out the wine and celebrate with a toast.

Howie Mandel's Hospitalization: A Warning Sign to Slow Down?

LOL!! When you think about it, you’re absolutely right!

Whoopi Goldberg: Obama's Great, But the Next Two Years Are Going to Be Tough

Now that I’ve read “Audacity..”, I’m looking forward to reading his first book, “Dreams from My Father”. He’s a gifted writer, and such a sincere, intelligent leader. He’ll be a breath of fresh air in the White House.

Whoopi Goldberg: Obama's Great, But the Next Two Years Are Going to Be Tough

I, too, am so thankful that it will be President Obama at the helm. If anyone has not read his book, “The Audacity of Hope”, it’s a must-read. I feel so much hope and anticipation, that I’m actually feeling giddy about the inauguration next week ~ which, I too, will be watching on my flat scren TV. I know that we have some hard days ahead and change won’t happen over night, but we have elected the very best person for the job. God bless and protect President Obama!

Have you ever searched for your first love online?

I had crushes, etc., but met my one and only true love when I was 19. I was going to college in Boston, and he was in the Navy (also 19. His ship was in dry-dock at the time, so he was around a lot. We met on a blind date through mutual friends. It was “love at first sight”. We were married 3 months after meeting, and, of course, no one really gave us a snowball’s chance in hell of making it. But it really was true love, so 37 years, 4 children, and 7 grandchildren later, we are still very much in love and together forever.

Who should take Hillary's NY Senate seat?

Thanks, Phyllis, for Maureen Dowd’s take on the situation. Not being from New York, I have much less of a vested interest in who the Governor of that state appoints. I liked the idea of President Kennedy’s daughter finally throwing her hat in the ring. I’m originally from Massachusetts, and grew up with the name “Kennedy” discussed frequently in our home. My parents came from Brookline, where the Kennedy’s lived, and traveled in the same circles with a few of Joe & Rose Kennedy’s older children. The idea of the only remaining child of John & Jaqueline Kennedy carrying on in the family tradition intrigued me. I say give her a chance. The interview she did obviously did not serve her well, but I also don’t think we saw the real Caroline Kennedy in that interview. She’s just getting started. She is not a seasoned politician, even if she knows how the system works. If the people of NY don’t want to keep her then they can vote her out in 2010. But let’s see what she can do, let’s take a chance, like we did with her father, like we did with Barak Obama. We may be really pleasantly surprised.

Mother Johnston's Drug Bust Pains Palin

OMG, Brooklyn Gal, are you SERIOUS?! With all the skeletons in the Palin family, there’s no way I can believe that the Republicans actually ever vetted her ~ and if they did, then shame on them. The McCain/Palin ticket received only a part of the embarrassment it deserved. The Palin family reads like a trashy novel or TV script. And as for your statement, ” I am sure the Johnston family did not have one inkling or doubt about Sherry, otherwise they would have gotten her the help she needed after the election” ~ yeah, this wonderful, caring family didn’t even show up in court today for her. According to the Anchorage Daily News, she arrived alone, with no friend or family member, and asked for a public defender. PLEASE!!!!!!!!!

New York Times Gets Its Comeuppance? Lobbyist Sues Over Story About Possible McCain Affair (Video)

It seems to me that the New York Times is spiralling into another rag like the National Enquirer. A thought occured to me that perhaps their number of readers have fallen off over the last few years because more people are getting their news from the internet and news stations such as CNN. Maybe the managers and editors at the NYTs think that if they sensationalize their stories enough, more people will buy their paper. It’s a sad situation. I guess all we can look forward to is “Wolf Boy” and “Big Foot” stories and other trashy news from the NYT.

Palin Unplugged. Alaska Gov Talks About Campaign Mistakes, What It's Like to Not Be in Control

She is the only Governor that not only has NOT raised taxes on a state’s citizens, but has also run a state in a way that reduced expenditures…”etc. Yes, easy to do when you have so much money coming into the state because of your oil. Let’s see her do it now, when they’re taking a beating with the oil prices in Alaska. Hmmm, guess she’ll have to raise taxes. Oh, and btw, were you living in Alaska when she was governor? No, thought not. If you truly kept up with Alaskan news, you’d be reading the Anchorage Daily News, and then you’d see how Alaskans who actually live there now, don’t think much of Ms. Palin since she ran for VP. And do, please, check your facts.

Palin Unplugged. Alaska Gov Talks About Campaign Mistakes, What It's Like to Not Be in Control

She thinks she should have had more media coverage??!! Sarah Palin is so stupid and egocentric, she can’t see that once she did start talking to the media, McCain’s campaign started to roll down hill. Granted, he made a few huge gaffs himself, but choosing her as a running mate, and then letting her open her lip-sticked mouth in front of the likes of Charlie Gibson and Katie Couric, nailed the coffin shut for the Republican Party. Oh, and “fp”, yesterday DeBurca posted a link about that Team Sarah group. As I said yesterday, I hope the FBI are monitoring them…they’re one scary group of racist terrorists.
