Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

I just read in another thread that she has a son being deployed to Iraq, I would hope that perhaps that is enough incentive for her to start paying attention. May God bless him and keep him safe, as well as all the other troops serving their country in Iraq, as well as my fellow Canadians serving in Afganistan.

Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

Excellent post Alice, thanks for the insight into McCain’s running mate. Things that make ya go “hmmmmm” eh? Ooops my Canadianism is showing! McCain, is critical of Obama’s experience, and it seems he’s chosen someone with little experience as his VP choice. Again the hypocrisy is too much. I must say, I am a little taken aback, by a select few on here, that seem intent on voting for a woman, strictly because she is a woman. I personally could never vote for a person male or female, that would actually say they haven’t paid much attention to the Iraq war. A war in which thousands of her fellow Americans, have laid down their life for. What a sad and tragic testiment to her character.

Marlo Thomas: They Don't Understand Women

LOL DeB and Linda LL. Just wanted to share with you DeB, that my husband couldn’t understand my interest in American politics, UNTIL, he heard Obama’s speech Thursday night. Now he too, sits glued to CNN with me every night. He too, is extremely impressed by Obama’s vision for the country he loves so much.

Monica Crowley: Somewhere, Hillary Is Smiling

Quote from article by Monica Crowley~”Something tells me Governor Palin is going to be a rock star in the states that really matter — Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan. They like their guns and religion, too.” Why is it the term “rock star ” is used as a negative by Republicans to describe Obama, but they use it as a “positive” when describing folks in their own party? Sorry I find that rather hypocritical. Also the statement “States that really matter”? What the heck? Don’t all States matter, don’t all American’s matter? Or is it only the ones with lifetime memberships in the NRA and pro-lifers? The more I learn and read about Republicans, the more convinced I am that they will keep your country supressed in fear and on the verge of bankruptcy. But as long as they keep exporting American jobs to China, then the longer Republicans can access the bank of China to pay for your oil. Gee what a dismal future for the United States, IMHO.

Whoopi Weighs in on Sarah Palin and Reader Comments on Her Obama Post!

I posted this on another thread and felt the need to post it in this thread too. Ha! I was expecting McCain, to select a woman as his VP running mate. Surely, people seen this coming, after Hillary lost the nomination, and especially after McCain, asked why Hillary wasn’t put on Obama’s ticket. I certainly hope McCain, doesn’t assume that just because his running mate has breasts and a vagina, that it will lure disgruntled Hillary supporters. I would hope, Hillary supporters, will be able to see through this obvious “stunt” and be offended by it. Surely, your election is about voting for the party that will better the lives of the American people, and not about the anatomy of a candidate, regardless of the position being offered. Btw, Whoopi, we Canadian women are missing the view as well!

Britney Spears's Dad Is Furious Over Daughter's New Reality Series

Raquel, I couldn’t agree with you more! Personally, I have no sympathy for Brittany Spears. I feel some sympathy for the addicts out there that are penniless and homeless, who have never had someone love them, or support them or offer to help them. A spoiled little rich girl, with millions in her bank account, who can afford the best care money can buy, is not someone I am willing to waste sympathy on. At some point, Brittany needs to be accountable for herself. She is now 26 years old, she is not a little girl, and people shouldn’t have to hold her hand throughout her life to make sure she is behaving as she should. She has failed herself and her children and she needs to own that.

Don't Miss It! Tonight's wowOwow DNC Reader Forum UPDATE 8:45PM; 9:10PM, 9:15PM, 10:10PM, 10:50PM

Wowowow! That was without a doubt, the most outstanding, heartfelt, sincere, honest political speech I have ever heard. Just when I thought I couldn’t possibly admire someone more, he absolutely blew me away. He had me on the verge of tears, I had goosebumps. I’m not even American, and he filled my heart with hope, not just for America but the world. My God, if America doesn’t vote for him PLEASE send him to Canada, we need someone like him up here! To all you Democrats, congratulations, that was a convention that I will remember for the rest of my days!

wOw Scenes: Our Pets

Beautiful pet pictures! I myself have 2 Rottis and 2 American Pitbull Terriers, 2 flame point Siamese/Tabby cross cats. I volunteer for a Pitbull rescue, and it has been a wonderful feeling helping out so many mistreated, abandoned, misunderstood dogs. My pets have helped me survive the empty nest syndrome, without them I’d be calling my kids every 5 minutes checking on them lol.

Tonight! Joe Biden and President Clinton Take the Stage at the DNC UPDATE 7:00 PM

Oh by the way, I must say I am so happy I came across this site. It is probably the best site I’ve found yet. Oh I did go back to that thread and asked a few questions, hope I didn’t ruffle any feathers.

Julia Reed Asks: Where's Obama in This Convention?

I’m Canadian, but I am enthralled with American politics. I am still learning about your electoral process and the way your country is governed. I have a question and I hope someone here might be able to help me understand. My question is this, “How is borrowing money from China, to pay for oil from the Saudi’s, a positive for the US?” Also if Iraq has over 80 billion dollars in surplus, why is it that Sen. McCain is willing to spend 10 billion US dollars a month on the Iraq war, for ohhh what did he say 100 years if need be? Why not get Iraq to foot the bill for having American soldiers over there trying to stablize their country? If McCain, is elected president of the United States, I need to ask if he is willing to spend 10 billion dollars a month of US taxpayers dollars, for a war in a country with over 80 billion in surplus, how many generations of Americans will be paying for this in the decades or milleniums to come? Wouldn’t this money be better spent providing health care, and education and creating new jobs? Which also leads me to ask, if American oil companies are recording record profits, in the billions, why is it McCain wants to give them a 400 million dollar tax break? That one really stumps me I have to say. Oh and one more question if I may, why is it in Canada I would be considered a Conservative, but in the US, I would be considered a Liberal?! That one really has me confused! lol.

Tonight! Joe Biden and President Clinton Take the Stage at the DNC UPDATE 7:00 PM

By C A Rose~ I just came back from reading the mean people’s thread where they are bashing everything liberal, Democratic, and everything else they can lump into it. I ran into Winery and asked her to return her wisdom to the civility thread and join us in here. Ha, I was just over there too, I didn’t make any comments but I did notice there seems to be quite a bit of animosity in some of the posts on that thread. If nothing else it makes for an interesting read lol.

Tonight! Joe Biden and President Clinton Take the Stage at the DNC UPDATE 7:00 PM

Wow, another exciting night at the Dem convention! Unfortunately, I missed Bill Clinton, but am hoping that Larry King will play his speech so I can see it. I must say, I was most impressed with Joe Biden. Obama, again shows great judgement. Joe Biden, spoke in a manner that could relate with all people, he is an authentic person, and while his speech may not have been flawless, he got his message across perfectly. Again, I wish I was an American, what a thrill it would be to cast a vote in this ground breaking, history making election. I wish our politicians were as passionate about our country as Obama and Biden are about yours!

All Eyes on Hillary Clinton ... UPDATED 10:00 AM: wowOwow what a night!

I hope you don’t mind a Canadian point of view. I find the American election process absolutely fascinating! I watched both the Democrat and Republican primaries. It didn’t take long for me to realize that if I were an American citizen, I would definately be a Dem. I was intrigued by both Obama and Clinton, I was impressed that they shared many of the same ideas and concerns, and both share a passion to make life better for all, including our planet. While watching the primaries, my husband asked me which of the Democrat’s would I vote for, and after some thought, I chose Obama. Not because I don’t think Hillary wouldn’t make a great president, there is no doubt in my mind that she would. I chose Obama, because he’s fresh, he brings something new to the table so to speak. Given the Clinton’s have already been at the helm, and did a wonderful job, I believe the States could benefit more from fresh blood, so to speak. I have been watching the Dem Convention, and was so happy to hear Hillary basically say to her hold out supporters, who are threatening not to vote or vote for McCain, that it wasn’t about her, it is about putting a Dem in the White House, to achieve the common goal. She truly is a class act, and I hope those whose ego’s are wounded by her nomination loss, realize that you aren’t just voting for a person, but an entire party, who wants to make real changes not just in the USA, but worldwide. Wow, I wish I were an American, I would love to be able to cast a vote in this election! I guess I’ll just have to be satisfied being able to watch all the excitement unfold on tv. I wish Canadian politics were this exciting and motivating!
