'Slumdog Millionaire' Stars Get New Homes

as i understood it, the producers were providing an education for these children until the age of 18..what disturbed me is that with all the money the film made, they were still ‘slumdogs’…. i questioned (on this site) the reason why the producers did not also provide these families with homes….while i am THRILLED that indeed they do have new homes, i am disappointed that it came from the indian govt. and not from the coffers of the movie company……to gramma harley………here is our answer

the killing fields……….another blight on man and his/her ability to be gut wrenchingly cruel to his/her fellow human being………whatever happens, i hope it will be closure for the families who have been the victims of one more horror of the past century………..NEVER AGAIN, i pray…….but where is the outcry as to another killing field ………….DARFUR

thanks for asking…….here’s the latest info……..last night on ‘nightline’ they did a piece on the children involved in the movie and they said that the families were being moved out of the slums into apartments………either they read my mind (and others, i am sure) or they felt compelled to do more…………i will keep on listening and googling and forward the info via wowowow………….

LOVED IT……………………….BRING BACK TALENTED, HANDSOME, SEXY, SUAVE, HUGH NEXT YEAR ! as for being boring, it is what it is…….people being awarded for their efforts…..yes, they are supposed to show gratitude and thank the people who helped them get to where they are….wouldn’t you…..i saw each and every movie this year and was entertained tremendously for $6.50…..the contenders deserved my attention…..and hugh…………oh, hugh !

i too was thinking why they have to go back to the slums. i read that their schooling will be paid for until they are 18. with all the $$ this movie has made (i myself saw it twice!), why in heaven can’t their families be moved out of the slums if they so desire. i read that danny boyle said that they wouldn’t know what to do with so much money. well then, put the mney in the hands of a trustee to oversee the use of it. why should these children still be living in squalor if there is a way out. after all, they and their soulful eyes helped make the movie the sucess that it was. i think we should all give a shout out to the producers to do more ! will you join me?

c. hardy…….obviously it was apparent to the vast majority of people…sadly, if you look back at the history of this country, the black man has always been parodied as a monkey . while i know those of us who believe in evolution in that we are descended from the apes, this caricature has remained wiith the black race and the caucasian race……….while i understand the authorship of the stimulus plan, president obama as the monkey rings loud and clear at first read.

Michelle Obama is a beautiful looking woman. What I appreciate most about her, besides her intelligence and the feeling that she has her priorities straight, is that she looks truly down to earth casually dressed in jean-like pants and a simple sweater when not appearing at a function……just the kind of look a young mother of two should project. Not to bring up a sore subject, but certainly alot more approachable had it been Cindy McCain or for that matter Sarah Palin. Yes we can and Yes we did !

Thank you Susan. I will look into it again and yes I know the stats well but nevertheless the fear takes over. Funny, I drove 105 miles per day (round trip) to work and thought nothing of it (and I know those stats as well) Perhaps one day I will be able to take a trip without panicking and hyperventilating on the way to the airport. Once again, thanks…………..oh how I love this site!
