Senator McCain did a wonderful job in keeping the spirit of the evening light and funny. He made me laugh so very hard! I encourage everyone to watch both clips. Senator Obama was more on the serious side, but both of the Senators made the evening enjoyable.

Katie Holmes was well aware of what she was getting into when she married Tom Cruise. If her opinion of Scientology has changed and she would like to get out, I believe she will have to make the effort and do it herself, and that is her business, not the non-Scientology’s people. I don’t appreciate having groups of people target one person that is a star—there are many other people in the same position, without a star’s name, that could really use the help. Getting into a religion is generally easier then getting out, and some are more difficult than others. Katie Holmes has plenty of support if she really wants to get out.

DeBurca: Shouldn’t have been an issue?!?! ANY addiction that a president has should be an issue. Perhaps you are not familiar with what happens to a person who has addictions….they will go to any length to get the thing they crave (until they get treatment, or decide they want to overcome their addiction with help). If a president has an addiction it puts him in a vulerable place. That puts our nation, YOU AND ME, in a vulerable place. If you or I lie in court (called purgery), we would end up in prision—so should anyone else, regard- less of status or position, have the same consequences. The law is supposed to be the same for everyone.

I like McCain. I wish him happiness and health in whatever he does. His choice for vice president is interesting…he chose someone no one else might have, and is obviously trying to reach voters that he otherwise might not have. We all have opinions.

Brittney is over 21. Even though her father and mother may disagree with her choices, and even if the choices are bad ones, Brittney must suffer the consequences (and not other caring people). Yes, her life has been destructive, but apparently she hasn’t learned her lesson. I agree with Vivvy—as soon as her father leaves Brittney will self-destruct like any other addict. Unfortunately, we see this frequently happen in the Hollywood scene. Having a high profile, wealthy life-style, with everything available, can cause problems. Add to the situation bi-polar disorder, drug addiction and a divorce (or is it 2 divorces), and problems will follow. I hope she can survive the next few years or enough time to overcome her disadvantages, and learn to see a content life.

If the gymnists are found to be under age all their medals will be taken away. I watched the IOC President speak about the problem. He stated that the age limitations are put in place to protect children so they can not be exploited. The only problem is finding proof. There is legal action of this same suit that has not been completed…..going on for eight years.

I’d recommend “He’s just not that into you” and “The Rules.” Both of these books are about relationships. I’m 48 and read these two book a few years ago, and WOW. I wish I would have read them years ago to help me in understanding relationships. There is always “Women are from Mars and Men are from Venus” and “You just don’t understand.” They also are great books in understanding the opposite sex. Women have to deal with husbands, sons, uncles, and most bosses in the business world. Getting a leg up will help. In all fairness, you’ve read “Jane Eyre” several times, but I read “The Black Stallion” a dozen or more times.

Oh yeah….and let’s advertise this business. Why not give out the phone numbers and the women’s names?

I agree, Kitty. What is wrong with looking older? Nothing. Young girls today are under more pressure then ever before to look perfect. My 14-year-old told me that one of her friends said her boobs weren’t big enough! We talked alot and I hope I can help her to love herself and others for who they are. Today we are too worried about our hips, our thighs, our stomachs, and our boobs. I believe that concentrating on faith, health and self-esteem is more important then our weight or anything else. And remember, if you don’t build on those two aspects, no matter what your weight is, the rest of you will be a hollow shell. Kids pick up on who you really are.

I think one of the reasons there are so many obese people is the attachment to food and money. We eat out because we don’t have time, and the time it saves (so we think). Also, if you don’t have the money you can’t eat out, and when you have money you can eat out. Has eating out or eating fast food become a way of “keeping up with the Jones”? I would be interested to see a study that shows a comparison to obesity and income.

I think you’re all right….we’re looking at the size of a 14 year old (#1 for being strange), forgetting about falsies (#2), and those who think 14 year olds can’t be a little large (#3) aren’t familiar with how girls develop. Eons ago, when I was 14 I sported at 38C, and that was large without falsies, hormone therapy, or surgery. Some girls are just, well, given alot.

Heath Ledger was a great performer as the Joker. In the other Batman movies the Joker was….to pretend with their flawless make-up, and the other Jokers were not as underhanded and brilliant as Ledger’s Batman was. The way Ledger walked, talked, and in all his movements, he was alluring. In some ways I think we all were hoping the “bad guy” might win (which he did in some ways). The other actors and special effects were frosting to the cake. I am looking forward to see if a sequel is made.

Frank, if you are able, you can go back to work and come out of retirement. You can go back to school, upgrade your education, and possibly move to be closer to your family. Stop asking yourself daily why you retired, and start asking yourself what you can do to change your situation!

I think the reason many men are happier later in life is because women have done so much for them in their younger years! Women have double duty as mothers and workers. It takes us (women) longer to get where we want, we get less pay then men, and often times we put aside what we want for their betterment. When we get older we have time to think about those sacrifices and perhaps we didn’t get where we wanted to. So, we have to start over, many of us, and it isn’t easy! I am a non-traditional student at 48, and returned to school 3 years ago. I stayed home for 10 years with my five little ones and then I was divorced, leaving me years behind in education, and years behind in job employment issues. I have no regrets, but it really shows how being older is more difficult, and perhaps that again, is why older women are not as happy (or should I say not as fulfilled) as men may be!

I realize that Marilyn Monroe was known for her beauty, acting, and love affairs, but it has been 50 years! I think it is time to let her go and time to gain knowledge from women of our time because times have changed. I appreciate finding “lost” information and new films, but hey, why not concentrate on the robust personality and put the sadness to rest?
