Cynthia McFadden: Hillary Clinton Working Hard to Get Obama Elected

Dee, WELL SAID! I raise my hand high and wave it in the air to that statement. Since when did education, culture, cool and finesse become attributes that we would NOT want associated with our character? “Average” Americans in my world have always strove to be better, learn more, want the best for everyone…not the every man for himself of the past near decade.

McCain, Letterman End Feud; Palin Appearance Soon?

I was floored by the article, BG. The more I read, the angrier I became at the lies this man has put up to attain the brass ring. Well, good news this morning! http://www.truthout.org/article/101908Y Colin Powell endorsed Obama.

How Much Money Would Obama's and McCain's Tax Plans Save (or Cost) You?

How Much Money Would Obama's and McCain's Tax Plans Save (or Cost) You?

Susan, it’s so interesting that you posted this. We’re probably around the same age and I just pointed out to a colleague of mine: Isn’t it interesting that “our media” from our time is now back in the forefront: both Saturday Nite Live and The Rolling Stone. go figure. LOVE It!

Monica Crowley: There's a Fine Line Between 'Maverick' and 'Ass'

And here’s a great reason why, Mitzi: From the recent piece in Rolling Stone magazine: John Sidney McCain III has spent most of his life trying to escape the shadow of greater men. His grandfather Adm. John Sidney “Slew” McCain earned his four stars commanding a U.S. carrier force in World War II. His deeply ambitious father, Adm. “Junior” McCain, reached the same rank, commanding America’s forces in the Pacific during Vietnam. The youngest McCain was not cut from the same cloth. Even as a toddler, McCain recalls in Faith of My Fathers, his volcanic temper was on display. “At the smallest provocation,” he would hold his breath until he passed out: “I would go off in a mad frenzy, and then, suddenly, crash to the floor unconscious.” His parents cured him of this habit in a way only a CIA interrogator could appreciate: by dropping their blue-faced boy in a bathtub of ice-cold water. Trailing his hard-charging, hard-drinking father from post to post, McCain didn’t play well with others. Indeed, he concedes, his runty physique inspired a Napoleon complex: “My small stature motivated me to … fight the first kid who provoked me.” McCain spent his formative years among the Washington elite. His father — himself deep in the throes of a daddy complex — had secured a political post as the Navy’s chief liaison to the Senate, a job his son would later hold, and the McCain home on Southeast 1st Street was a high-powered pit stop in the Washington cocktail circuit. Growing up, McCain attended Episcopal High School, an all-white, all-boys boarding school across the Potomac in Virginia, where tuition today tops $40,000 a year. There, McCain behaved with all the petulance his privilege allowed, earning the nicknames “Punk” and “McNasty.” Even his friends seemed to dislike him, with one recalling him as “a mean little fucker.” McCain was not only a lousy student, he had his father’s taste for drink and a darkly misogynistic streak. The summer after his sophomore year, cruising with a friend near Arlington, McCain tried to pick up a pair of young women. When they laughed at him, he cursed them so vilely that he was hauled into court on a profanity charge. McCain’s admittance to Annapolis was preordained by his bloodline. But martial discipline did not seem to have much of an impact on his character. By his own account, McCain was a lazy, incurious student; he squeaked by only by prevailing upon his buddies to help him cram for exams. He continued to get sauced and treat girls badly. wanna read more? It’s pretty chock full of the guy who puts himself first. http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_re… and pass this along to family and friends… http://www.rollingstone.com/nationalaffairs/index.php/2008/10/03/five-my…

McCain, Letterman End Feud; Palin Appearance Soon?

The Rolling Stone piece on McCain should be his complete undoing. Read this and share it with others. They talk about vetting Sarah Palin? This one vetts McCain and it’s a worthy look: http://www.rollingstone.com/nationalaffairs/index.php/2008/10/03/five-my… And a fine Rolling Stone article on him: http://www.rollingstone.com/news/coverstory/make_believe_maverick_the_re…

Margo Howard: Will Sarah Palin Become the Next Jerry Springer?

Thanks for the link to the censure, Diana. I just went there and forwarded the link to many of my friends. It’s mind-boggling what Republicans will do to hold on to their hats. They have a personal agenda that leaves out 80% of the American people. It’s hard to believe that so many Americans are still Repubs after the past eight years. An excellent mind to follow around a lot of this economic mess is Robert Reich - Here is an excellent description of his book: Reason Why Liberals Will Win the Battle for America A call to arms for liberals and progressives against what Reich terms the “Radcons”, radical conservatives who combine the aggressive “neoconservative” foreign policy of Richard Perle and Robert Kagan with an insistence on interfering with private morality, all the while eliminating social safety nets. Reich’s arguments are most persuasive when he takes the approach of the Radcons but turns them around. Yes, he says, morality is crucial to the survival and prosperity of the United States, but instead of worrying about what people do in their own bedrooms, we should focus on public morality, especially as it pertains to overpaid CEOs, corrupt corporations, and the government’s tacit approval of them. Reich ultimately sees good news for liberals on the horizon, however. While he thinks millions of Americans are fed up with the overly cautious Democratic Party that won’t stand up for it’s progressive principals, they are even wearier of the Radcons and “their intolerance, their mean-spiritedness, their moral righteousness, and their arrogance toward the rest of the world.” check out his blog at: http://www.robertreich.blogspot.com/

Margo Howard: Will Sarah Palin Become the Next Jerry Springer?

I hear you, Diana. This rollercoaster has got to stop. This is the worst Republican ploy to date - ACORN undermining the fabric of our democracy. Is McCain on hallucinogens? I find myself tearing up over the good sentiments like this one. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=ifG6LeOTyJ8 It’s a worthy lyric to listen to and good to see our youth get more involved. This kind of thing is keeping my head held high. We shall prevail.
