look in the mirror Gary and you will see the problem staring right back at you it is not the moderates.  we used to have moderates like Nancy Landon Kassebaum in my home state of Kansas in the senate and Sarah Palin and Michelle Bachmann do not half measure up to the standards she set intellectually or politically oh and she never accepted any pac money.  Those two are not fit to fill her pumps.  They are a CARNIVAL ACT.  The moderates are fleeing.  You can’t blame this on the middle because there lies the majority and whoever can better reach the middle wins.  McCain lost the election because he lost the youth, minorities and womens vote most of these groups will never become social conservatives no matter how old they get which leaves you with caucasian men in the south and parts of the midwest. if ya’ll don’t change course you will continue to be losers.

OH AND BY THE WAY i DON’T FEAR STRONG WOMEN i AM ONE AND WHEN I CONSIDER MYSELF FIFTY TIMES SMARTER THAN PALIN OR BACHMANN POLITICALLY, I DO NOT THINK THAT BODES WELL FOR THIS NATION ESPECIALLYWHEN ONE OF THEM IS RUNNING FOR VP BUT THEN AGAIN THERE HAVE BEEN STUPID MEN IN GOVERNMENT SINCE THE BEGINNING OF TIME SO I GUESS IT SHOULDN’T BOTHER ME.

My family was Republican but they were fiscal cons, not idealogues and had a healthy respect for separation of powers and church and state separation politics was always discussed.  They liked Reagan.  Bush Sr. they were lukewarm about. 

We had some decent repubs here in Kansas like Nancy Kassebaum and Bob Dole but frankly those two would be considered moderate repubs these days and as a breed they have vanished in Kansas thats why so many of us support people like Kathleen Sebelious that is a democrat.  When our repub party in Kansas was taken over by ultra crazyservatives many of us fled or changed parties.

I have been a registered Repub, Democrat, Independent and then back to Democrat so I could caucus this election cycle.  I change depending on who is ticking me off the most. I vote for person not party.

sorry to hear about your friend.  Last week when this hit the news they reported 2 sick in Kansas and earlier in the day I had just stopped in that little town of about 8,000 at the gas station and got gas and some tea and I have to admit I was worrying a little if I had used my purell after I pumped and went in.  feeling fine still about 4 days later but it did make me think.

Thank you for the treat, a good interview with a women who changed so many womens lifes for the better.  We need more interviews like this one.  A great role model who inspired us to live a life that pushed the boundaries of what we could accomplish and be as women.

I did see his bucket pretty awesome.  Missouri made a great one right before half versus Memphis that was impressive like that.

Is it true they are clearing salary cap for Lebron, I have heard some speculation.

I was really glad when they got Garnett and Ray Allen, they needed the help and Pierce deserved the help.

Lizzie I agree it is a great diversion these days.  have always loved it but it is nice, it does take your mind off other things.

I live in Wichita and grew up around the Wichita metro area.  I always heard he was a good coach.  Considering how many the Jayhawks lost to the NBA and graduating we did well making it to the sweet 16.  I thought Missouri did well and so did the rest of the bigt 12 teams.

I thought a sunflower was a good icon.

Yes he is in Minnesota and I heard ESPN comment on that he is happy there and he got several texts and emails from Kentucky congratulating him on making the tourney this year.

I heard Gillespie wasn’t a good fit.  He wasn’t real smooth around the Alumni and the Donors. It is a lot of pressure and there is a lot of money involved.  I don’t know that much but Tubby always seemed like a good coach and a nice man and I remember at the time there was some talk about how he wasn’t appreciated on ESPN and Kentucky might be sorry after he was gone.  Maybe he got tired of the attitude of entitlement that crops up in some of these college towns.  Its not like we don’t have it here in Kansas or in Chapel Hill or Durham.

Rock Chalk,  We needed a little bit more offense, we did better then the last time we played in early Jan.  We’ll be back next year.  Hopefully Collins and Aldrich.  They say Cole Aldrich’s Dad lost his job in Minnesota late last year and that might cause him to go ahead but really he needs another year, Collins they say is ready now but he says hes having a good time and not in a hurry.  I can’t complain we have a great program and Self is a good coach it took us a while after losing Roy Williams and we were bitter around here after Roy left for Carolina and won there.  After we thumped the Tar Heels good last year and got the monkey off our back we feel good and all was forgiven with Roy.  You know Dean Smith and Adolph Rupp were both Kansas boys and many around here always rooted for Tar Heels if KU was out.

Detroit was good to us last year when we won our title coincidentally it was also the same path that Danny Manning and the miracles took 20 years earlier when we won.

My youngest is 12 and was rooting for The Spartans over the Trojans you know a rematch of the Battle of Troy.

I was so glad to see Boston win last year, I don’t follow pro much but Paul Pierce is a KU Jayhawk so I have always followed how he is doing.  I  root for the pro teams that have our beloved Jayhawks like Mario Chalmers who tied us last year with Memphis and sent us into overtime to win, he is now with the Miami Heat.  We also won a national championship 20 years ago so it was an anniversary for KU and then to have Paul Pierce win it was all good last year for Kansas basketball. Enjoy the game and I am sue it is hard to get away from crazy March fans in UConn country.
