On the energy issue, I heard T.Boone Pickens on NPR state the fact that the oil pipeline from Prudo Bay to Valdez Alaska can only carry 2 million barrels a day max, we are now putting through about 750,000 barrels a day so even if we drill more up there he said the problem is getting it out and we currently use 12 million barrels aday. So he said sure hes for drilling but there are more issues than drilling we would need a whole new pipeline and that takes alot of time and resources. He said this yesterday on The Diane Reems program. I’m sure Sarah Palin /McCain have there own take on this but I bet Pickens is more right on the money about the whole ANWR issue.

I also heard a statement that her daughter would be marrying the baby’s father soon. I wonder if that would be the choice of these 2 teens if not in the middle of this election. Many americans have had children this young and gotten married but as the parent of 3 children that are teens I do not know if I could marry my 17 year old son or daughter off and feel good about their future. Also how could her daughter choose anything else with her mothers views, and now her being the darling of the evangelical community; She now has Dobson and Hagee and the rest of them on board. I am sure she will be held up as a great example for all of our daughters of what they can accomplish in their lives if they can just get the supreme court to reverse Roe v Wade. We can all learn from this I am sure, maybe they can get rid of birth control too and we can all learn our place walking two steps behind. Sorry to be so cynical but I live in the middle of the bible belt and go to church with many evangelicals who Roe v. Wade is the tip of the iceberg they would like to go after the pill as well. Maybe a small minority but I do not underestimate their power in the repub party and I am afraid Gov. Palin is the trojan horse.

I think the age question is relevant Reagan was McCains age his second term and how many people to this day believe that Nancy was calling the shots. Good Morning to all, I have been following this wonderful place on the web for a few weeks since I saw Liz Smith and another founder on tv. This is the first time I have posted. I live in Kansas which can be very conservative and I feel McCains pick was pandering to the special interests that elected George W. and that Rove is now large and in charge of McCains candidacy . I feel like Gov. Palin is a slap in the face to women and is there because she is involved with big oil and wants to overturn roe v wade so now the christian right which I am a born again christian but do not subscribe to their politics will get out and support this ticket big time. I supported Hillary and it did hurt when she did not prevail but in Obama I get someone who believes in the causes Hillary fought for, Sarah Palin and John McCain do not. I think in Obama’s speech he spoke about judgment and temperament did McCain not just prove him right. My sister in law lives in Texas and the word they got down there was that Kay Bailey-Hutchison was considered but she was “too old” for McCain and she is also pro choice. For the Republicans what does it say about them? My conclusion is that Republican women with more substance and experience were passed over because they were too maverick on womens issues for this ticket and again we can all conclude who the powers that be are who are running this Republican party.
