Most of us do not think she has been a radical pro choice gov.  There were political things in those bills that she vetoed that made them unacceptable to most, it wasn’t all cut and tried and easy like they make it sound. 

 You are right it is a big big job.  I am glad we are an ag state because FDA is part of this and at least she’s had experience with food producers.  An important issue after all the salmonella stuff.   Not to mention health care is a mess and I for one would sure like access to some decent insurancefor my family that doesn’t cost almost as much as our house payment since we are self employed.  The choices are awful.

Michelle Obama is a great role model. 

I am in my 40’s I know who Schlafly is but I doubt she will wind up in the History books of the future as a role model for women, most women I know would not acknowledge her as a great influence on their thought process or politics.

I may not be a fan of Phyllis Schlafly but this article told of how she grew up with very little and worked hard to get an education and to have opportunities, it seems to me regardless of their politics neither Michelle or Phyllis would have been able to do as well as they did without those opportunities and without the women who fought for these rights before them. 

If you can’t admire a strong women like Michelle then perhaps you should take yourself down to the FLDS store and purchase a prairie skirt and learn how to be submissive.  

As far as Tiller is concerned see my post above that was Phil Kline our Atty. Gen at the time that was involved in that and he has gotten into all kinds of legal trouble for the way he handled it he stole womens private health records. That violates HIPAA and then recently when he left the state to take a job at Jerry Falwells Univ, he tried to take them with him he had them shipped but they were returned to the Johnson County Prosecutors office for insufficient postage or wrong address that just happened.  As far as Tiller goes Klines ineptness has as much to do with Tiller staying out of trouble.  

As far as abortion goes Roe v. Wade is the law currently, she supports the law and it did not seem to hurt her she was elected as Gov. twice by a majority repub state obviously the voters must not have been to upset about this one issue.

As far as the Catholic Priests around here especially in the rural areas they have been known to tell women they can’t have DNC’s for fetus that have died in the womb, even with sonograms when the Doctors can find no heart beat.  They will preach from the pulpit that there are not enough babies in our parish and warn against the dangers of birth control pills, They are against Birth Control period that includes pill, condoms, etc, so I would be very careful when you think these Archbishops and priests are the voice of reason, these are also the same guys who moved the pedophile priests from parish to parish to keep themselves covered.

The IOU’s for Income taxes, the State had the money but our Republican Legislature did not want to release it from that fund until she signed off on their budget which slashed education.  They reached a compromise on the budget.  Again just politics as usual around here

You need to remember the old saying all politics is local.

It is very nice that you have an opinion but you do not live here, there is a lot of politics and mud slinging going on in Kansas  right now and the Republicans are mad she  Kathleen said no to 2 coal fired power plants in western Kansas and they are furious and out to get her, what they are not telling is that these power plants are for producing power that will go to Colorado and other states that already told them no, they just thought they could slip it in here in old red Kansas anyway and she sdtood up and said no.

About the State Health Insurance for kids the legislature didn’t want kids to be covered in the first place with or without federal funds and our population in the rural areas is increasdingly poor and elderly.  I travel the state for my job so I have a fairly good handle on what is going on out there. She has been a very good Gov. 

Don’t buy the B.S. being peddled in this article.  First of all I am here to say that Kathleen Sebelious is very popular in Kansas and we are a very red state and she was overwhelmingly reelected despite the hacks that now run things in Kansas.  We used to have a proud tradition of Republicans like Nancy Landon Kassebaum who was our senator for many years and even Bob Dole both of whom would look fairly moderate in comparison to those running things today that is why so many have fled the GOP of late  in Ks and become Dems.  Sebelious own Lt. Gov used to be the Chair of the GOP here but fled for the Dems and became Sebelious running mate because of the whack jobs at the top, there are no more moderates left.  Many do not follow the radical agenda set in place but unfortunately what is left in Kansas at the top are card carrying members for El Rushbo. 

My grandmother is 87 years old.  her Dad was  a Republican in the state house, senate and Supreme Court in Kansas, wrote the brief for "Brown vs. Board,"  she says she doesn’t recognize the party anymore.

You can’t believe a word these guys say anymore, they are in cohoots with a guy name Phil Kline.  Now I am not here to defend Tiller that is for the courts to do but I am from Kansas and Phil Kline our past attorney general who started the witch hunt on Tiller was not reelected because of illegal activities on his part.  Then the state GOP appointed him (Kline) to another job in Kansas City as a prosecutor, wich he was subsquently dumped by the voters because he is a hack.  he is under investigation for illegal activities during the time he was Atty. Gen and Co. Prosecutor. 

These guys are nut jobs they belong in the same category as Fred Phelps and if you don’t know who he is just google, h’s the one that pickets the funerals of the Dead soldiers and gays. 

Sebelious could have accomplished more but the Grand Obstructionists Party here kept her from doing some of that.  Yes we have more people without health insurance right now, what state doesn’t, people are losing their jobs.  She did a good job, people like her and she was reelected by a very good margin despite the hacks that run the GOP here these days and that just gets under their skin.  This is nothing but sour grapes.

I am sure she is enjoying having her own space, just think how awful it must have been to run downstairs to say hello to your husband and run into Darth Cheney or D. Rumsfeld (Dumb and Dumber).  That has to make your stress level go down.  President Bush wasn’t my favorite but those other 2 were nothing but hacks. 

I can’t say I have ever disliked any of the First Ladies some I liked better then others.  Nancy Reagan always seemed a little to involved with her bling bling and Betsey Bloomingdale, she didn’t seem as down to earth as some, must have been the Hollywood thing.  Laura Bush has always seemed to be very nice classy and maybe a little bland, I feel like she seemed to be more comfortable the last couple of years.
