 You are so right Sherrie when you point out when the policies start tilting towards the rest of us in the bottom 95% it is handouts.

You know Rush is from the Show Me State which to a Jayhawk means those hillbillies down in the southern hills of Missoura are kinda slow it takes them awhile to catch on.

My Grandpa said that class and money are not the same things and just because one has money doesn’t mean they have any class.  I think Rush is proof of that.  Several years ago in Kansas the churches of all denominations got together in Wichita and opened The Lords Diner to help feed the homeless and the poor and he made fun of it on his show several days in a row, it is funded through donations and volunteers and is a much needed service, they feed many families it is a very nice facility.  I was very offended by that, it was covered by our television stations and they broadcast his remarks.  I think he is mean and rude and a waste of food that could go to more deserving people then him.

I am sure some of these new policies bother him he might have to pay his own fair share, which considering his new contract was around 400 million he can afford and maybe he should start tithing there are plenty of worthy causes around maybe he could start with food pantrys.

Great movie, I have seen it twice the second time with my mom and teenage daughter who both were amazed by it as well.  I really want my 2 sons to see it as well but will wait til it comes out on dvd.

 i agree about education being very important for these kids,are all of the kids getting education funds?  I would also like to know why just 2 of them are getting homes?  Were they the 2 whose living situations were the most dire.  All of the children involved should be taken care of.  Such a powerful movie and American teenagers should see it they need to open there eyes to the realities of many parts of the world.

Hillary is not the type to make those types of comments without fully analyzing the situation. 

I  wonder how she reached the conclusion about orgasm?  Was it personal scientific research on her part if so how many women has Coulter been with to form the opinion about orgasm whether libs or cons have more.

I think Hillary will do a great job as Sec of State just as I thought she would be a good POTUS.  Boy what big jobs they are with all the challenges facing us today both domestically and world wide.  I am glad she is getting such nice greetings and also taking the time to get out of all the government meetings and do some other activities like the tv show.  I think she is a really good role model for women around the world. 
She has a great track record of really caring about womens and childrens issues and I think in this administration she perhaps has more latitude in addressing those types of issues then Condie had.  She seemed really confined to just meeting with gov. officials from other countries and I think the tactic of Hillarys of wanting to get out amongst the people should be very beneficial for the US and should help our image worldwide.  But I also think she will be a tough and skillful Sec of State.

I think there are always lessons to be learned by looking at the past.  Hoover was a mean spirited man and his actions did have unwarrented consequences in some peoples lifes that he pursued with his own hidden agendas.  In the last several years laws have been changed for instance the patriot act which weakened or got rid of protections citizens have from the government, many of these were put in place in response to the actions of Hoover.  We still have many like Hoover around today they just don’t have the power he had.  can you imagine him in action today he would most likely be in league with the papparazzi.

Some might argue that if that type of technology surgery in utero saves a fetus that otherwise would not make it that man is then playing God choosing to save a fetus that otherwise wouldn’t have survived.  What about all these premies we save that take massive amounts of surgeries that wouldn’t have made it.  Do you advocate keeping them alive at all costs no matter what.  Some of these early birth premies will never live without ventilators and being kept alive artificailly.  Just playing Devils advocate the fact is our tecnology keeps many more infants alive then would have been even 10 years ago.  One could ask is that Gods will.

Love Morning Joe,  It is a hoot, sometimes Joe is a little over the top and needs to be quiet, sometimes Mika needs to speak up more but I like the fact that they have a very diverse group of people on their show and many of them do not always agree with each other.  Pat Buchanan  adds some different viewpoints when he is on as does Barnacle.  They have had some very informative people on to discuss the economy.  I have enjoyed when Mika’s Dad is on, what a smart man and it really changes the dynamics which is fun.  I like Joe but it is fun to see him squirm sometimes and Mika’s Dad makes that happen.  Erin Burnett also does a nice job.  Dylan Rhatigan is kinda like Joe in that sometimes he needs to be quiet. 

I’m sure Mika is a great mom and a good role model and I think it says alot about her family in that they have worked with different sides of the aisle.

She already has visited Kansas where I live she was in the Manhattan area which is K-State where they do research on food supplies and agriculture and how to keep them safe against bio terrorism threats.  They the state and the feds just awarded our state with a new lab which will also do research with animals to prevent diseases that can spread and effect the public in case our food supplies are poisened.  She also visited Greensburg and saw some of the reconstruction that has occured after that town was completely wiped out down to the ground. Asking the locals questions about what worked when FEMA was there and what they might need to do different.

 So in my opinion she has hit the ground running and seems concerned with a broad array of challenges, those posed by natural disasters like what happened in Greensberg and how best to protect our food supply and crops from bio hazards.  perhaps they need her to deal with the peanut guys she looks like she could crack a few nut, LOL

 

caj p, As the parent of 3 teens right now it is a rough go with our culture, media, hip hop etc. It is true many of us are much busier then we would like to be but there are many very good parents out there and there are many who are ill equipped. We have been proactive in talking to our kids about sex. there are many children growing up with single moms who love their children but are worried about feeding their kids and do the work of 2 parents and that is sad. Many parents may be spending more time with their kids as so many are losing their jobs. This is not an easy time to raise kids, I’m not defending irresponsibility just reminding those without teens right now there is a war out there and many of us are in the middle of the battle.

Amelie, even if the spread isn’t that large for most companies it sure sounds about right for some. It is just sickening. I guess if your going to commit a crime in America you better think big real big and go to work in the financial sector. I remember the weekend Lehman fell and Suzanne who some have mixed feelings about wrote about things I had never heard of like credit default swaps and derivatives and leverage and how upside down this was and how Warren Buffet had warned about these things early in 2002 I think. I am 45 but my mom is 64 and I called her right up and told her to get her stuff out and into something stable, she did early the next week. I didn’t have much to worry about but i did not have a clue then how far this thing would reach nor did very few of us realize what a house of cards this was. I owed Suzanne a thank you as well as other posters on here who knew far more then I did about our financial sector.

Amelie, i have been using the golden calf for awhile maybe because I live in the midwest in the middle of the bible belt. I truly believe that money became their idol and they put it in front of anything else including ethics, integrity etc. There are warnings about worshiping idols throughout the bible and greed plus golden parachute sounds like something james bond would have in a movie. i find there is such good material in the book that makes so much sense if just read instead of filtered through some of the religious crazies that try to twist and interpret to prove a point which is usually to fulfill some type of hidden agenda
