Michelle Obama's mother now lives at 1600 Pennsylvania Avenue. Would you welcome a parent or in-law to live with you?

Yes I would consider having a family member, parent, sibling, grown child etc. move in; my inlaws are both deceased but as far as families that are multi generational living together I have a feeling this economy may make that a necessity for many families coping with job loss. Hopefully as a nation we still have more people who know how to hunker down and take care of their own then we have greedy bankers who would sell their own mother for a buck rather then take care of their own families.

I think that having the First Lady’s mother living with them will be a huge blessing for their family and will be a huge help for the girls. It is not easy to move and leave friends for any child but especially children who are now living in a fishbowl. I loved my grandparents, my grandpa just died this past year at 91, my grandmother is still alive she is 87, I am lucky to be 45 and to have had them in my life this long. They taught me so much and shared their lifes stories and lessons. Since President Obama just lost his grandmother and his mother has passed I bet having her there is a great comfort to him.

Disgraced Business Execs' Wives Get Pricey Homes

I have a feeling some of those lessons may become more in vogue then they have been in recent years and if some of that is brought back it would be a blessing for our country.

Disgraced Business Execs' Wives Get Pricey Homes

Hi Belinda, At Christmas time I was at my local grocery store and a man was arrested for stealing a baked chicken, my teenage children were with me as the police were taking him out we were walking behind them and I was explaining to my children that it is unfortunate this guy may do more time then the people on Wall Street who have robbed people of millions, I found the whole incident very sad. I don’t think the Police officer was very impressed with my version of how our justice system fails us but I was just calling them as I see them. I want my children to understand the same thing you just stated about low life scum, those execs are no different if not lower, its one thing to steal to eat it is another thing entirely to rip people off and have no soul, ethics or integrity, these executives are too busy worshiping at the trough of the golden calf and I would love to have them judged by a jury of homeowners and small business owners who have been on the losing end of their greed. Who really knows what their wives may be like but I am not holding my breath. My grandparents taught me very young that just because someone has money does not mean they have any class and there is a definite difference between the two. I have tried to pass that on to my children but the media today sure makes that difficult with all the worshiping of money and the celebrity lifestyle. I personally am tired of the let them eat cake attitude of these type of people and yes there are times that the off with their heads or to tar and feather sounds appropriate if not totally far fetched and sometimes wistful.

'The Closer' Michelle Obama Brought in to Do Some Convincing on Economic Stimulus

I have been absent and haven’t posted for quite some time and after reading through this thread I have to say I am somewhat appalled at the tone and demeanor of some on this thread and I find it a real shame. The posters who are the most rude are ones I do not recognize as people who were usually on this site. Dialogue and disagreements are one thing but several are just spewing hateful garbage. I grew up in a republican family and live in a very republican state and I am fearful for the partys future if it has now been hijacked by people who behave in a manner that brings out the lowest common denominator as represented by some of you. For some of us the more disrespectful some of you act on the fringe right the more uncomfortable it makes those of us who consider ourselves more in the center and the more it drives us to want to disassociate. When your hate becomes more important then what is best for this country it is a great disservice to all the Americans who are now losing their jobs and worrying about how to feed their families and keep a roof over their families heads. There is a difference between constructive disagreements and differences and just meanness. Some of you need to hit your knees on the floor and do some soul searching about your hate, I believe Jesus has a message for you.

Linda Tripp Rips 'Secretary of State' Hillary Clinton

gotta love it, so true takes one to know one.

The Economic World Does Not Come to an End Very Often, by Liz Peek

i am so glad to read many of the posts on this topic, i was beginning to think that i was the only one disgusted with how the employees in Detroit are being roasted compared to the staffs on Wall Street. If we do not tackle this health insurance problem we will continue to lose industries who are unable to compete on an unequal playing field when competing with other countries whose companies are not on the hook for health care, not to mention other countries citizens are getting better health care at a lower cost.

Obama's Citizenship Questioned - Again

here we go again, is this not the same kind of crap that they dogged the Clintons with petty Bull…t. I got so tired of the conspiracy crap they were always trying to cook up. They always have Rush to push their paranoia; notice he hasn’t been around lately. perhaps his birth certificate is somehow tied to the Chem Trails they are all so freaked out about on shortwave and their truthsayers on talk radio they always have fresh new evidence. Nutjobs, they need to get a life.

Male Infanticide on Rise as Papua New Guinea's Women Attempt to End War

I wish it was as simple as that. From what I have read though the Chinese boys now outnumber the girls 4or 5 to 1 and now that type of imbalance is causing worry about how to find wives for these boys now becoming men and that the competition in some villages is getting very fierce. Then you factor in the fact that in their culture it is the duty of the sons wife to care for the husbands aging parents now they are all worried if the son doesn’t get married who will take care of them, from my understanding that is why sons are so much more desirable in their culture.

Male Infanticide on Rise as Papua New Guinea's Women Attempt to End War

How sad to get to a point as a society that you believe that the only way to stop the warring factions is to deprive them of the warriors. Perhaps they might want to swap the Chinese for the girls. Women are not perfect as we all know but war is a by product of men and their pride, testosterone, etc. I have long said if you want peace in the middle east men must be taught their place which would be to sit down, follow 3 steps behind their women and keep their big traps shut.

Christiane Amanpour to Finally Get Her Own Show on CNN

to echo the thoughts of many it is about time she is very deserving. I always enjoy listening to her.

The Biggest Turkey of Them All! by Liz Smith

Funny how some things permeate our pop culture and take on a life of their own just like that saying.

Candice Bergen: What Murphy Brown Would Have Said About Sarah Palin

Frank, First off I started off my post by talking about Murphy Brown which I enjoyed as I do Boston Legal, I find the writing on these shows to be very thought provoking. If you haven’t watched Boston legal, Denny Crain who is played by William Shatner is a big NRA gun fan thus the Palin reference, it would make a funny episode as they have some things in common. Yes you are right compared to the atrocities that happen in our world some of this is silly. As for strong women needed you are right and frankly if I knew a way to wipe out all the men in those countries other then the young boys I would say go for it because most of the men in those countries are a waste of food and take up resources that would be better served by their portion going to women, unfortunately as far as I know that is not possible, sad but true. I don’t hate other women, as for Sarah Palin I do not agree with her views and that is why I was not for her. I agree she knows a lot about oil and gas but so did George Bush and we can all see where our energy policy is today. I would call not call it successful. Most of us were not for her because her policies and ours conflict. We should not have to be for her because we share anatomy. Lastly the only thing I said about the turkey interview is that I didn’t think the female gov of my state would have done the interview with that in the background. I am from the midwest but I think in Alaska hunting and butchering is just more an everyday part of life so they don’t think as much about it. I said very little about the turkey go back and read my post.

DeBurca, Its kind of interesting how a movie can in some ways become so identifiable with a state like the Wizard when I was younger it was a little annoying but as the years have gone by I increasingly see it has a greater meaning to many because they love the movie. We have several towns that had some filming in their town. One is Liberal in the southwest corner and the other is Wamego, they have a yearly festival and some of the munchkins come back and I guess some of them are prima donnas and don’t get along with some of the others even though they are advanced in age. For some reason I think that is kind of funny.

Yes Ms. Dee, I too thought of the winged monkeys, the image is priceless, I can see it now.
